For its price the range is a joke that and its 40k yet you have to pay extra for sat nav function. It is almost insultingly shit this car. Anyone who knows anything about EV's would not go near this thing. A Skoda Enyaq has even in winter a 230 mile range and in summer a 270 mile range a good boot sat nav and apple/android auto and its the same price. Yeah this car has Lexus build quality but in every other way this is really mediocre for a lexus.

Just test drove a current Model Year UX300e - totally agree with Rory’s comments on the whole.
Quiet, swift and well screwed together - and looks good, in my opinion.
It may be expensive to buy, but as a Company car lease, it’s cheaper than the competitor cars he mentions and these days, most people don’t need the huge range - at least you can fully recharge it during a shopping trip at most supermarket free chargers (or McDonalds!)
Getting rid of a Tesla Model 3 Long-range for one of these - don’t need a bigger car, only carry 2 people usually and it can leave the house with a full charge every morning!
Had an extended test drive in the UX300e and it did a full normal days driving for me without any range anxiety.
Sure I can’t drive to Lands End from Leicester in a single drive - but, being real, that’s not a journey I commonly do! It can quite happily get me to Milton Keynes and back in a day - and that’s not too shabby and is all the range I need.
Oh, and Sat Nav? I use Waze and Apple CarPlay- I would argue the days of in-built sat navs are gone - Phone apps never need map updates and always have accurate traffic news

Lexus going the way of GM and dumping an exceedingly unnecessary number of model options onto the market. Can't keep track of what they have now.

I never cease to be amazed how so many people comment negatively about how expensive the reviewed new car is (whatever the car or make is, which is being reviewed). Its like somehow these people think they have scored a point if they manage to pay ‘only’ this or that for a new car. The price of a car new is only relevant if you’re stupid enough to buy one! Better to buy it somewhere down the line after the first fool soaked up all the depreciation, plus finance, plus finance interest etc etc. These reviews and lots of the negative comments which follow, miss a huge trick here; RELIABILITY!!! A few years down the road this super unpopular electric Lexus (like many Lexus) will be pocket change, and I mean sub £10k, sub £8k or even sub £5k pocket change! Thats when you should buy it, when the other fools have absorbed £35k of depreciation for you. What you’ll then get for your money will wipe the smug smile off any doubters face and heres why. You’ll get award winning reliability, customer service like you’ve never experienced before, and to top it off, industry leading (transferable) warranty which prevails until the car is 10 years old or 100k whichever comes first, as long as you have a Lexus service annually. Thats coz Lexus has faith in their product, and stands by what they make, unlike pretty much every other manufacturer. Go and research or Google or YT the quality control of the Takumi Technicians in Japan who oversee the production of Lexus cars; it will be an education. Meanwhile keep laughing at Lexus, keep buying your good looking but unreliable alternative marques. I’ll wave to you while yre stuck at the side of the road and I pass you in my 10 year warranted reliable Lexus! See ya later!

Been back to Lexus a few times for rectification but coarse chip roads still get the dash buzzing. With a quieter electric power train I'm guessing the noise will be worse. I really dont understand why Toyota would sign off this car. Lexus is supposed to represent the best of what the group can do at a premium price - well they nailed the premium price part of the brief I suppose. Toyota arguably have one of the best EV pedigrees out there and yet seem to think its acceptable to take dress mediocrity up in a fancy suit and take peoples money. There are a lot of justifiably loyal Lexus customers out there and this just seems a cynical attempt to exploit them. Lexus should be careful, reputations are hard won and easily lost.

@Serg Car Reviews actually picking mine up at the end of March. Gone for the top of the range Takumi package. Test driven the car a lot as well as the Merc EQA, Audi Q4 and the Hyundai IONIQ 5. Firstly the Hyundai is very good but feels very cheap and plastic. Bit of a bus. Both the Merc and the Audi are very nice. Now the UXe is down on range and charge time on all of these and that's what the car gets knocked on. For me though I liked the Lexus way more in comfort and quality. The Mercedes was the next best and the screens were very impressive. The Lexus Takumi pack has the bigger screen and all the bells and whistles. When I spec'd up both the Audi and the Merc to the same level of what I wanted and all three on the same level there was not much between all three price wise. Hyundai was off due to cheap and nasty which might be unfair but that's my opinion. The fundamental for me when it came to making a choice was reliability. I've never driven a merc or Audi and have been a long term Toyota owner. They just do not break and the electronics have never even had so much as a glitch. My colleagues at work that own or have owned either Audi or Merc cannot say the same especially the Audi. Besides the Lexus was just great to drive. The range suits me and the ranges I need. Lastly the waiting time is better than the other two. 6 to 8 month and even longer on the Audi. 3 months for the Lexus. This is my first Lexus and I've seen what's coming down the pipeline especially the new concept NZ. The main motivation for electric is not because of the Greta Dunderhead save the planet bollocks. I'm just chuft as hell not to be paying bloody £1.50 and rising a litre any more from March. As I said before your review was the best one yet. All other reviews never mention the reliability record Toyota/Lexus have.

I would buy the car just for one feature: its 1 million km 10 year battery warranty it has over here. Which would provide an easy answer to the usual sentiment: But the batteries will be done for after two years, how can that be good?
But especially the wrong charging standard, not to mention the high price and the poor range really make it a hard sell.

    • @SergCarReviews

It's interesting mate cos I actually drove this UXe for the whole day from 100% to 0% and was disappointed that the expected range is no where near what is outlined! Also here in Asus it costs an extra $20-30k that a petrol or hybrid UX so doing the maths (Electricity cost over fuel cost per 100klms) it would take almost 700,000klms to get your money back and let's face it no one will do that...
