As a WRX owner for twenty years I was stoked about the rumors for the new STI. Could not have been more disappointed. Not a fan the plastic cladded WRX then Subaru dropped the STI. Bought a Core GR Feb '23. I like the uniqueness of the 3 cylinder that is suffering from a serious case of pissed off. A small downside, get ready for more brake dust than you've ever seen before.

@stevethomas760 Yeah, I noticed that too, I washed my rims and the next day, they were covered by dust again. Are the pads good or bad?

@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 Good pads/brakes, just produce a lot of dust. As you know GR has 14" front rotors, huge for a car this size.

Welcome to the GRC club! Gotta say I wanted the CE, but as a car guy and knowing I'd be purchasing one for year round driving, which meant Canadian winters; I could NOT bring myself to put a CE ltd production car through our harsh winters... but I sure did want that carbon roof! Ultimately, the core is so very impressive and I feel can't be called a Corolla (coming from a 2019 6spd XSE); it's just so different. looking forward to your updates!

Interesting as that is exactly what happened to me. Overdid mods on first WRX and then could no longer get it inspected. Then got a Launch Edition with sports exhaust and loved it. A top 5 car for me. But had a chance to get a preowned AMG and traded it for that. Wish I didn’t have to trade it but I did. Had 2 other WRXes but was always disappointed with them vs STI. GR purchased for the same reasons you sited. Hope to keep for awhile but only time will tell. Will not be doing technical performance mods as I believe that hurts resale value. Love the car so far but only have 1500 miles on my 2024 Circuit Edition.

just spend 5k for a catfish camaro and turbo it for $600 lmao. since power to money matters to you.

@@BandoLando You can buy an entire turbo kit for a Camaro for 600?! No need to upgrade injectors? Intercooler, and tune too? Stock exhaust and intake? The single turbo I’m assuming must be cheap as hell or free, any labor in the 600?

I spent my money on a better car, yes. The difference was nowhere near $30k

I thought the same thing and the reasons he had were not justified. When you get a car, it should not be similar and its literally a lateral.

I mean it’s pretty impressive how much faster these GR corollas are on track than even the STI S209 Subarus flagship $65k+ 340hp STI.

His reasons are dumb but still a better car cause it won't break as often and just as fun and good for daily
