Caroline, did you find a video that shows you how to remove the old flush valve & install the new flush tower? With the pandemic, I have no choice but to do it myself. I've had a little experience fixing my Toto toilet, but I have no info on how to remove/install a flush valve (drain valve) on a Toto 1-piece toilet. Any help would be appreciated.
@@tuppencepetey I couldn't find a video for the "one piece" but there is one on youtube for a two piece. The one-piece is even easier because you just remove the old flush valve by removing 2 screws while being careful not to drop the pieces into the toilet (you don't want some sort of blockage). Remove the stopper from the new tower flush tube (I used THU-460-6D-A) by turning it until it "clicks", then you should see 3 screws with plastic "mounting blocks" on the end of each. Loosen the screws so that you can swivel the mounting blocks into place once you place the whole thing in the toilet. Place it in the toilet and tighten the screws so that it holds it in place. Re-insert the stopper part doing the opposite of what you did to remove it and attach the chain. That's it. It took me 5 minutes -- and was so simple and all I needed was a screw driver.
I tried this method to no avail. I've tried grinding out the arm seat like some have said, no luck. Finally I called Toto service techs and he informed me that the fix is the THU 500S. After months of messing with this, the new flapper fixed all three of my one piece Toto toilets. I 'm kind of upset with Toto, especially with a Toilet in this price range, but at least they had a fix. Toto now uses no Flappers and only the new column flush valve, but this fixes the problem, and I won't change over until they stop making flappers.
I bought their new column flush kit also, but before it arrived, I gave this a try. It's still working for me, but at least I have the kit if I need it. How much did you pay for your toilet? Mine came with the house.
The new Toto flush tower works great and is easy to install. I got tired of messing with the ones in your video but thank you for the tip.

Which flapper did you use?
Is this model a good toilet?
Yes, I think so. Toto makes a nice one piece toilet IMO
