And folk complain about Land Rover's. I repaired a 2010 Hilux earlier this year, it looked like it had been living in the sea it was so corroded. Currently on with an Iveco DAily in the workshop. Its 23yrs old and has a few rot issues. I like those chassis stiffener plates, if a Nivara comes my way with a similar problem I would like to buy them if you can supply them? Top job lads!
In my experience the Toyota boys don't like to talk about their issues. I had a 07 Hilux and it was corroded badly. I gave up trying to fix it and split it for parts I was pretty gutted to be honest. I currently have a Isuzu but I am seriously considering OM605 swapping a D2
I bought a 2008 pathfinder with a very rotten chassis on the offside back wheel area a few months ago for £600 and my brothers mate came and welded it for me. The crazy thing is who i got it of paid £7.5k two years ago and put new discs and pads and back tyre's on before I got it. I think I got a canny bargain don't you?💚💛❤️👍
@@JWFabrication1 it's an idea but I haven't got much coin. I do need to sell my other 2007 one though but it needs a battery and a puncher fixed. It's only got one month mot also. I didn't plan on getting the New one just got asked if I wanted it and offered £500 and got it for £600 because they were told it was a write off.👍
Nice job of that and the weld is great clean and strong being a welder my self of 25 years you could do with a ramp in one of the units would make it easier for you selfs customer will be very happy with that as that job will out last the rest of the truck now 👍 to your question stand up
There’s a guy in Scotland that makes replacement chassis’s from 4mm steel plate and they’re a life saver , dropped the car off with him ,he called 5 days later “ it’s ready “ came its a brand new MOT , totally under sealed and a guarantee. Cost less than getting it welded bit by bit over a few years and having the thought that in may break with the next pothole. What a difference it has made ,the truck ( that’s what it feels like now ) is rock solid and holds the road the way it did when new . Towing is now a breeze .
not true in this instance. the reason for the d40 chassis snapping is due to the fact that in Japan they chassis was dipped vertically before final assembly, but in Spain ( where the European D40's are made) they were dipped horizontally. The chassis has a bend in it, and when horizontally dipped, air stops the paint from reaching the higher parts in the dipping process. So they don't get paint on them, start to rust form the inside and then snap, the Nissan solution was to spray the inside of the chassis rails with etcher or something, For completeness these boys need to do the same.
@carcontrolcommitment I disagree with that,,,I believe they used super super cheap steel from China,,which was far far inadequate compared to Japan steel,,yet they went ahead anyway because it's cheap...I owned both types of these vehicles one from 2002 Brand new,Navara..And a second at 2010,,the first one was far far superior,,did everything with it including towing cattle trailer,,,my only issue with the first Navara was it was absolutely lethal in wet or icy conditions unless in 4 wheel drive,,,Liked this video...🇬🇧💯🇬🇧
when the factory in Thailand received a design from Nissan which they thought was bad they ignored it and designed there own parts including the chassis resulting in better trucks
@@JWFabrication1 no by the time it’d get to Ireland it’d be a very expensive part. If I could buy a drawing or cad file of that plate, I could cut it myself.
If we saw 40,000 on one of them in mid wales without a snapped chassis you were doing good ..my mate repaired half a dozen or more in one year .if it wasn’t that it was buggered engines .cams .injector pumps bottom ends knocking ..and the thing is most of em were metallic blue 😂😂
Good old colin giving you some upol ( cast offs 😂😂) ……didn’t give you the good stuff silverhook!!! He just posted that he doesn’t use the upol anymore lol
Most of them snapped because of a mistake at rhe spanish factory with wrong mix of rust prevention , the later ones where ok ,i had a 2011 d40 and it was solid , kept it 6 years and still solid, and only thing i got done was a stronger duplex timing chain upgrade from billcar engineering , wish i kept it now was a great truck much better than the latest one i have now.
Pisses me off how poorly finished the chassis are on these double cabs. Should be thick powder coat not some quick waft of paint like they are. Look like shit after a couple winters.

Let me guess the Hilux was between 07/10 😂😂

Great work guys and thorough too, it makes me wonder how many have been scrapped for want of a little TLC.

Both 😂
Nice truck maybe try and sleeve some box section on the chassis

Looks like a crack den in there!
That is tidy….. you should of seen it before 😂
Great workmanship lads
Very impressive job lads, hats off to all of you, 👌
Top job lads. Love the D40s just about to take my old girl around Australia
Get on…. That will be some fun, I loved oz when I traveled 😊
top job lads
car sales call them knackered navaras
Not now 🫣
Things aren’t built to last these days, they’re built to fail - planned obsolescence
That’s why we like to keep them going 🫠

the Thailand built Nissan's are far better built than the Spanish made rubbish

God where are you guys .that welding is nice.
Random banana in the Time-lapse love it
Someone spotted it 🍌 🍌 🍌
Nissan issued a recall for this. Solution is to inject anti rust solution into the chassis.
Folder not a scruncher always stand up
Do you not coat inside the chassis as my last one of these rotted bad from the inside.
I think you are right this is all rotten on the inside and the heat from the welding will burn off any protective coating
"cracking" repair guys 👌👍
Oh yes! Like the pun lol 😂
Nice work boys 😎❤️👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks 👍
Farmer (mooky) next to our farm. Had one. Broke in half, they seriously cannot be strong enough for the job. Thought his must have been a one off. 😮
That's a professional repair not like the crappy job on a friend's truck.
We try
Any chance of getting a step file for the chassis plate?
You want to buy some chassis plates
@@JWFabrication1 no by the time it’d get to Ireland it’d be a very expensive part. If I could buy a drawing or cad file of that plate, I could cut it myself.
Email johnwfabrication@gmail.com
If its one owner from new and well looked after, how do you snap a chassis on something like that and can you get your money back.
Not now I don’t think
How much is something like this to do?

Ask him why he has gone onto silverhook 🫣
It’s not an advert for this pickup. Who makes the best chassis?
They are all as shit in different ways 😊
How many did Nissan buy back
Not a clue
Nice job done.
Time to invest in a car lift?
Nice job guys! 👌🏻
Thank you 😊
Stand up an wipe lads!!
Cracking job, thats going to outlast thee and me !
Fantastic video thank you wouild it pay to drill a few holes on the underside of the chassis rails to allow water to drain.
They have hole but are normal full of mud, dirty and rust
Unusual for a d40 to have issues thought it was the older navara
No these D40 are really bad for snapping be we love doing them 😁
Hope I don't have the issues with the np300
Yet another great vid, for a moment I thought you was gonna weld up that creak in Ben's rear end, !!
Crack
Don’t have a welder that big 😮
Most of them snapped because of a mistake at rhe spanish factory with wrong mix of rust prevention , the later ones where ok ,i had a 2011 d40 and it was solid , kept it 6 years and still solid, and only thing i got done was a stronger duplex timing chain upgrade from billcar engineering , wish i kept it now was a great truck much better than the latest one i have now.
very lucky most of the ones we do are 2010/2012 😬
havent you got a concrete floor ?
Nice job, what's the damage mandingo?
Ever had any experience of doing similar to a ranger 07 - shes getting a little swiss cheesy in the obvious places!
We’ve done Nissan, Toyota’s, l200 but not a ranger yet …. They are all the same tho 😉
What sort of price and lead time we looking at for a welding up - already tub off, tank out and needle scaled?
It all depends on how bad it is but this job was £1500
Hi do you do this for customers mine needs doing how much would it cost also where in the country are you many thanks Tony
Yes this was a customer car and it’s roughly about £1200
We are based on Thirsk North Yorkshire
👌🏻
@@JWFabrication1 many thanks your a long way up from me but keep up the good work on the d40s
Top job this lads how many amps u using
Not sure which part your watching put probably 100amps 🫣
@@JWFabrication1 welding looks perfect
How much do you charge for this. And where about you based mate
We are in Thirsk North Yorkshire and it depends how bad but around a grand
These trucks had an appalling’NCAP’ rating .
3 sheets folded and wipe sitting down. My question to you is, how does a blind person know when to stop wiping??????????????
How much mate for the Job
Depend on how rotten but just over a grand
Hi mow much was all of this work cheers
Not as much as a new truck 🫣
Pisses me off how poorly finished the chassis are on these double cabs. Should be thick powder coat not some quick waft of paint like they are. Look like shit after a couple winters.
This model always has chassis rot.
That chassis is rotten.
My get a couple of years out it but it's heavily rusted and on borrowed time.
Funny as fuck……lol rust bucket, yeah will buy you 3-4 yrs Great crack lads
Sit down 😂😂
🫣😂💩
Why stand up when you can sit down and wipe. 👌
Ben will have answer this question 🫣😂
😂 sometimes you have to stand up to make sure your fully clean when your eating things like Carolina Reaper chilli’s! Running out like lava! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The metal is Chinese, seen this many times, the metal is not forged properly.
🫣🫣
Fkn unreal old school welder oxy acetylene old cars lasted longer than these 12 yrs old shit
Oh and stand up and wipe and inspect the results!!! 🤣💩
BOTCH JOB
Go watch something else then 😂😂😂
Trying to be funny & failing miserably 😒
Not trying to be anything but myself …..
Why?
They were recall for this problem OMG
Yes but if the picks didn’t need it they got nothing and sent on there way
You spoil a good video by titting about ! It makes you look amateurish! Also…..working in the dark is so poor. You need to be more professional!
Nice job, what's the damage mandingo?
