You know you defined the entire genre of film music when, they're still referencing your score 46 years and God knows how many remakes later. John Williams is the MAN!!
He's the goat. Many years ago one of my ex gf had never heard of him. I made her a CD for her car with maybe 25 of my fav scores. She recognized some, but she liked them all for what they were. Most people can't listen to an hour straight of orchestral music. They need vocals and that familiar verse, chorus, verse structure. We were living in Los Angeles at the time. Coincidentally, later that year, JW was performing at the Hollywood Bowl for a Christmas concert and she bought us two tickets to the show. It was so awesome. Man, I was loving every single note he conducted. 🤘
This version is an incredibly dumbed down, obnoxiously pseudo-epic trivialisation of Williams' rich theme, but that doesn't change the fact that he IS the man!
I was 27 when the first one came out. I am in my 70s now and I can still remember the excitement of watching Christopher Reeve soar across the screen for the first time.
I was born in 1979, my mum taped the extended cut with the deleted scenes when it aired on TV and that is all I watched! Whenever the movie finished my mum would ask me: "What do you want to watch next?" "Superman!" I would watch it again. Greatest movie of all time!
I was 8 years old, the year was 1992, and my uncle played Superman II on VHS for me and my sister to watch. I was spellbound when I saw superman flying over Niagara Falls and he became my hero. The next day, my teacher in school asked every kid what they wanted to become when they grew up. I responded with "Superman". Everybody laughed but I didn't care. I am 40 and I still want to be superman when I grow up. So everyday, when I wake up I say a prayer and I try to calm my mind and make everyone in my life, everyone I meet, feel happy. That's me being superman, and you can be superman too. We just need to try, everyday.
It's so perfect this is a new dawn where Americans stop loving evil people for being evil and start loving Heroes for being good people! More of this! "Looking at you Marvel where's Xmen!? The ultimate defenders of equality we need them now on the big screen!"
I see such optimism and happiness in this comment section, along with so many middle aged or older Superman fans saying they feel like a kid again and wish their parents were here to experience this with them. Truly goes to show you that even with all the negativity and hate you typically see online, Superman continues to be a great influence and source of hope and happiness. I hope this film makes me cry happy tears.
Also, if you take into account that the music in the trailer is the classic Superman theme composed by John Williams, this hits the nail on the head, bringing back nostalgia for all of us who grew up with that movie and giving us the chance to run out and see it. Well done James Gunn.
I watched the last Superman movie in 2013 with my brother. Over ten years later and a new Superman movie is finally coming. I'll be watching it in theaters in memory of you David. Love you brother.
I was 65 at the start of the teaser. I am now 7 and my wife is demanding I put on some clothes, take off my pillow case cape and stop jumping on the couch.
The faint chanting of “Superman” towards the end gives me goosebumps. The OG music was the perfect choice. I feel like I’m 6 again when Christopher Reeve played him. Can’t wait.
Fans chanting his name maybe because Superman might be losing to the villain and then the chant gave him inner strength to defeat the villain. This Superman reminds of Tim Daly and George newbern superman.
DC fanboys will like anything and then cry after they have seen it. This looks dogshit!!. man of steel was a masterpiece but since then we aint got nothing good
As a representative of the Snyder Cut fan base, I'd like to apologize in advance for any haters from my community. I, unlike the rest of these people, enjoy both dark and light hearted DC stories. James Gunn is doing an amazing job.
the shot of someone throwing something at Superman's head and he notices, but chooses to ignore it. THIS is the Superman i wanna see, FINALLY. Superman is one of the most POWERFUL heroes, his best stories are about whether or not hes making the right decision. His struggle to keep doing so makes for the BEST stories, this seems to be off to a GREAT start.
The humility on display with him flinching to the can. Yeah Superman can get hit with high explosives and not flinch but he chooses to, to remain humble and human.
I became a huge Superman fan when I was 12…. 56 years ago. I have to admit, it was emotional watching this trailer. Thank you to whomever made this movie, I’ll be watching it next summer.
Exactly, we sadly don't need a dark version of the character like Henry's. Don't get me wrong, I liked his superman, it was a new iteration of the character, but this is something we need right now, a true symbol of hope, a character that inspires hope into people
@@berlyyy wait people are waiting around for a fictional comic book character to give them hope? I like comics but only empty people need characters from comic books to give them hope. What they need is JESUS BABY!
Huge respect to Gunn for making Krypto debut in the trailer by coming at Superman in his time of need, instead of having some character make a joke and say something like "wait is that a dog Superman now? how quirky!" This kind of sincerity is appreciated.
The kid lifting that flag and hoping for Superman is exactly what gave me chills. That's what Superman does. He brings hope and faith in a world that fills void of it. Those are the moments I miss seeing in superhero movies. I want to believe in the characters, I want to see them make the impossible possible because they're super.

I watched the original Superman movie with my grandfather who passed away a year ago. One of my earliest memories of watching movies is the first scene where Clark Kent becomes Superman and saves Lois lane… and hearing that score for the first time…. It gave me hope, something to aspire towards…. Something the world needs now, a star man. I love you grandad, hope one day we can watch this together again.
I lost my father in 1997, when I was 17 and he was only 45. One of our strongest bonds was Superman and comic books. Before we closed his coffin, I left a Superman gum sticker over his heart (I remembered this while writing this post). Next month, I will be 45 myself, and I was in tears this morning with these memories and feelings surrounding this homecoming. Tears of happiness, tears of coming home.
Respect, man. James Gunn can be wild but this trailer definitely shows the restraint and care for Superman as a character and a human. It's nostalgic for sure.
When my dad passed away in 2016 (at 46 years old), his wake and funeral were themed to Superman. He LOVED DC a LOT. Don’t worry, he loved Marvel too (especially Spider-Man), but he was a diehard DC fan for YEARS (at least until The New 52 came out). He was such a comic book nerd. So am I and my brothers (and my mom too, to a lower but still high degree). If my dad was still alive, he’d be incredibly hyped to see this trailer. IIRC, he wasn’t really bothered by Henry Cavill’s Superman (even though looking back, I’m certainly bothered over how much Zack Snyder DOES NOT understand Superman), but he’d be absolutely THRILLED to see Superman done right on the modern big screen (though I’m 100% certain he’d love Superman & Lois with Tyler Hoechlin as well).
@@gurshamnjotsingh7082 A Superman comic quote. He stopped an abusive father from beating his small son. When being congratulated with the "only you could do this, Superman" stuff by the cops he disagreed with them. "All it needed... all it REALLY needed was someone, Anyone, with a pair of eyes, a voice, a phone and ten cents worth of compassion"
I like that quote because it perfectly illustrates the very core message behind the character of Superman. Superman isn't his powers. Superman isn't even a man. He represents an ideal, a hopeful belief that anyone, anywhere, at anytime, has what it takes to step up and do the right thing.
Its cool to see the comments of people remembering their loved ones in this. My mom, rest her soul, and I used to watch Smallville together. It's one of my most cherrished childhood memories. Im happy to see that im not the only one that Superman brings these feelings to
As a native Clevelander, my heart is so full watching parts of my city. I worked at a coffee shop while they were filming this, and we had so many crew members and even the director come into our shop regularly. They were such kind individuals, and I'm so excited to support this movie!
I brought my little brother to see the first Christopher Reeve Superman. We started out in the middle row of quite a big cinema. He had soon made his way to the front row and watched it all from there. I wish that little brother was still here.
@madkabal It's not. It's showing people that Superman isn't as invincible as people think. Oh, and that's not a french poodle. Do your research first before you comment. You want to see a movie that mocks Superman? Watch Batman v Superman.
I was a boy when Christopher Reeve became Superman. I'm 51 now, and this will be out the day before my 52nd birthday. To be a boy again. I'm not crying, you're crying!
Watching this again after seeing the F4 trailer, and all I have to say is, July looks to be a true return to greatness for Superhero films. I've been burnt out for years now on the genre, but both of these movies look really fun, bright, and just what we need in these dark times. I can't wait.
A Superman actually portrayed to be not just good, but the best version of a male's heart. Masculinity being shown as a good thing and used to lift people up. A symbol of hope with the strength necessary to protect those around him. Almost like a man that is...super...
That kid holding a flag of Superman’s Symbol, whispering his name made me tear alone. The faint chanting of “Superman” in the background also adds on. Because *that* is who Superman is, he *is* hope. Hope for a better tomorrow, a safer world, and to inspire kindness and compassion. I say all of this as a huge Batman fan. I have never been more excited for a DC Movie in a long time and I am already sold on the movie!! I can’t wait to see it in theaters
Yes, the chanting "Superman" in the background was subtle and inspirational! I'm glad a couple other people have picked up on that as well. I loved hearing that chanting!
@ It took me a while to notice but I knew I was hearing something from the background and I can only assume we are hearing the chanting because it’s from Superman’s POV.
1:36 I love the detail after the boy was praying for Superman. You can hear echoes of a mass of people chanting his name. It's like we're in Superman's perspective, through his super hearing. We hear what he hears, people begging for his help
I love that it doesn't look like some noble or regal breed. That's an adorablel mixed breed, clearly very intelligent but just happy to be able to help Clark. Looks like a dog you'd find on the road one day and adopt on a whim.
@@ApexGalethat's a bad take. Krypto has always been represented as a regal powerful breed not some wimpy shrimp dog. Krypto has gone toe to toe with insanely powerful enemies, this dog doesn't look like he could hurt a fly. James Gunn has lost all my support by pushing his own dog into this role.

At last, a movie about Superman. We've been waiting for one of those for over 15 years.
Pelicula sin sentido
Wait now. ⚠️⚠️ We’ve thought this.. the last 2 Superman adaptations… let’s see the product first this time and not the trailer.
That’s great!!

Love your comment ❤
I think this is also what lacks in today's superhero genre.
Also, if you take into account that the music in the trailer is the classic Superman theme composed by John Williams, this hits the nail on the head, bringing back nostalgia for all of us who grew up with that movie and giving us the chance to run out and see it.
Well done James Gunn.

Yes, it's many people ... chanting over and over and over in chorus -- like it's the World ... screaming out for Superman.
The moment I noticed the chanting was the moment I got a little emotional
Fans chanting his name maybe because Superman might be losing to the villain and then the chant gave him inner strength to defeat the villain. This Superman reminds of Tim Daly and George newbern superman.

Bright and hopeful. If only Cavill had been given a film like this instead of Snyder's Hot Topic version of the DC universe...
DC got it's old logo back and Superman got his proper red and blue pants back. All is right with the world, now.

I like that quote because it perfectly illustrates the very core message behind the character of Superman. Superman isn't his powers. Superman isn't even a man. He represents an ideal, a hopeful belief that anyone, anywhere, at anytime, has what it takes to step up and do the right thing.
