I love Grave Domain the most, it's sort of a weird type of Cleric, since is not exactly a healer nor a damage dealer, but I've found in my campaign that it is a crazy good support. Keeps the party alive while helping them kill the bad guy faster. And the flavor/roleplaying options are AMAZING. You can be a Van Hellsing, a Plague Doctor, or a Tribal Shaman. Is just an amazing Domain. (I apologize for my poor english)
I play a hallow one ( undead ) who worships the raven queen , it’s so much fun to play because the raven queen expressly hates undead and he is on sort of a revenge mission to find out who brought him back from the dead
I love it too, I play an Aasimar Grave Cleric and it just adds so much flavour to my character, I'm obsessed, but I was really surprised to see it ranked under the top 5 because I felt it maybe wasn't as optimised as it could be
my new character is a con artist pretending to be a cleric, that caught the eye of a god of mischief and was made into a real cleric. i picked trickery domain with the charlatan background and im having a blast robbing people blind while healing the party
My 5 favorite domains: Grave Light Life Tempest Arcana Honorable mention: Forge Least Favorite: Nature. Mechanically it's very weak and the powers don't necessarily match up thematically. I did a homebrew version of this class. You lose the heavy armor proficiency and gain sort of a permanent barkskin armor. You're literally like a tree-like, green knight. The bonus is starts as a medium armor AC 14 and goes up to 15 at level 6, 16 at level 11, 17 at level 17. You can use a shield and just like other medium armor, you can use up to +2 from Dex. No stealth penalties.
I have actually began a highschool campaign as a Aarakocra Peace domain cleric. It's awesome, alot of supporting abilities and spells to control the opponents to bring the battle to a end as smoothly as possible.
I definitely love tempest the most. Storms and lightning are a cool asthetic and the proficency with heavy armor and martial weapons make it a real threat to go against
War and forge domain are like sky and earth. Forge domain is gods craftsman who lives to construct weapons and armory, and war domain is a crusader, who lives for war and conflict. War domain by abilities is a weaker paladin, and forge is leaning towards being a weaker battle Smith artificier.
Currently playing as a Twilight Domain Cleric of Sehanine and I love it. He’s a Mark of the Shadow elf, so I RP the idea that the moonlight guides me in the night and it’s shadows conceal me from a fight. I’m also a DM for another group and one of my players is a Tempest Cleric of Kord. He’s a sailor whose family was murdered and ran from home. In search for answers he seeks storms for strength and protection.
I'm very sad to see that you didn't keep doing this stuff. I personally think you did a great job. I don't think the market was saturated but I think that you should have continued
I jumped into a 16lvl campaign 6 months ago. I made a fire genasi Blood Hunter Lycan (INT modifier). I was having a blast! For narrative reasons (and because I wanted to) I multiclassed to cleric at lvl 17. Because of the story I had to pick the tempest domain. With a little freedom from the DM my character spread a pear of wings. I will continue on the cleric path till the end lvl 20. So: I have a Flaming Winged Werewolf!!!! I L O V E D & D
Hey that's a cool list! I like your reasoning for each. Also good to see Light cleric up there, still playing mine and I recently got fireball, cannot wait to try it out. Especially since I never played a wizard or sorcerer that can use it.
My personal favorite is the zeal domain which is a Planeshift Amohnket domain and it is a nice mix between the War and Tempest domains and is very very fun to play
So I'm playing a Goliath Tempest Cleric in Descent into Avernus, it's awesome. Basically the party tank, grappling and smashing dudes head's in. Tossing kegs, charging into a room of 7 cultist and using amplified thunderwave/ shatter to zaporize everyone. It's cool AF 👌. My favorite D&D character to date.
I’ll agree with ya on the Nature Domain. Seems too Druidish. But, my #1 is the Twilight Domain. My first Cleric. And I love it. The only other one I’ve played is the Grave Domain. Love that one, too. Tempest is my Next In Line. Then I’m thinking Trickster. Then either War or Forge.
Currently playing a War Cleric, it's both fun and frustrating at the same time. However I'm now level five and the combo of spirit guardians and spiritual weapon, plus a cantrip like toll or sacred flame, and you become a force. Or if you are feeling a little vulnerable, you can dodge, while still knocking out the damage. Good times.
I’m playing a war cleric honest I felt op since lvl 3 shield of faith early makes you a tank against early enemies since most don’t have air or dex saving spells. Plus second hit is great for dealing more damage
Michael Nielson I agree. I’m playing a tortle tempest cleric right now in a pirate themed campaign and it’s so much fun. Call lightning is a blast to use in sea battle.
"Also has to cling to life because it's what's right, apparently." I feel like I'm the odd one out here, playing a Charm domain undead serving a neutral deity, lol. Great list though!
just found your channel am binge watching your videos got to say you should try a nature cleric for the same reason you like war cleric and grave domain it walks the line between healing and nature magic and has heavy armour so can stride the battlefield dishing out damage and casting spells. mechanically heavy Armour lets you tank, shillelagh lets you dish out melee damage with your spell casting stat meaning you can max wisdom and your melee wont suffer and spells like spike growth give you excellent battlefield control on top of your cleric spells. If you take booming blade with magic initiate and use shillelagh and add your divine strike your a beast smiting the enemies of nature.
I knew you would say nature was your least favorite! I may skip that one in my quest to play them all. My firbolg ranger/order domain with magic initiate druid is basically a nature domain cleric anyway, right? Arcana is probably something Id play in a high level one shot, and not otherwise. My forge cleric is VERY gratifying. Being able to make things for my party is way more fun than I expected. It may end up my favorite overall, or at least have my favorite divinity option. Voice of authority is great too. Healing a the barbarian who doesnt have much options (if any) for his reaction is too good. Imagine if I didnt have two attacks through multi classing, I could do that damn near every turn. WIth this getting long, I'll say I think light will be fun, my war cleric was sneaky good at support (two party members had sharpshooter, no need to explain), grave, im waiting for a TOUGH campain, and life I'll play again when i feel I have "mastered" clerics. They will think they are god's gift to the party! hahaha
War domain is thematicaly fun but it is badly designed because war priest feature (bonus action attack) conflict with weapon spirtit bonus action attack, wich make war priest only usable at lvl 1-4. Compare it with light's flare or tempest reaction, wich are always usefull even at high levels (same for life domain usefullness). A tempest, light or forge is a better frontliner than war, wich is absurd. Clerics are full casters and should rely on spells (weapon attacks are just backup damages). War domain clerics should be the holy protectors / buffers / battleground controllers, not the "i try the be a paladin but i can't hit hard enough". I made a small rework of the war domain War Priest, wich works well at the table, without being OP : War Priest : you can ask your god to protect you from injuries. as a reaction when you are hit by an attack, apply a holy shield to eventually counter it. The holy shield equals your Wis mod. and you can use it a number of time per long rest equal to your Wis. Mod. At level 6, you can use your channel divinity to apply it to an ally as a reaction. note : it's basically a lesser shield spell because it doesn't last until your next turn and it's weaker until you reach Wis 20. But it can eventually save your concentration spell (war domain is all about concentration buff/debuff spells), or save an ally from a bad hit.
Haha, there was the answer to my question in your last clip : what is your favourite cleric. I think my least favourite is Death. Tried it out and wasn’t impressed at all. Nature is tough to love, I agree. Why not a Druid instead. The one I’m most likely to play is Forge I think. Or a Light domain Pyromancer
These are for 5e Dungeons and Dragons, The forge domain is found in the Xanathar's guide to Everything Sourcebook, and the Tempest domain is in the Player's Handbook

(I apologize for my poor english)
That's a great point! I guess even though clerics are normally healers, they can also fill a support role very well!
I play a hallow one ( undead ) who worships the raven queen , it’s so much fun to play because the raven queen expressly hates undead and he is on sort of a revenge mission to find out who brought him back from the dead
Agreed.
I love it too, I play an Aasimar Grave Cleric and it just adds so much flavour to my character, I'm obsessed, but I was really surprised to see it ranked under the top 5 because I felt it maybe wasn't as optimised as it could be
I love forge, light, and twilight cleric. I’m new to DnD and fell in love with forge first and love cleric class as a whole.
I like the “top 5 and least favorit” adition to your class/subclass videos. I hope you will continue to do that in the future
Oh I definitely will! as much as I like being positive, I think it's good to point out what I'm not a fan of as well.
my new character is a con artist pretending to be a cleric, that caught the eye of a god of mischief and was made into a real cleric. i picked trickery domain with the charlatan background and im having a blast robbing people blind while healing the party
My 5 favorite domains:
Grave
Light
Life

Least Favorite: Nature. Mechanically it's very weak and the powers don't necessarily match up thematically. I did a homebrew version of this class. I like those tweaks! Those would make it feel a bit more nature-y
I have actually began a highschool campaign as a Aarakocra Peace domain cleric. It's awesome, alot of supporting abilities and spells to control the opponents to bring the battle to a end as smoothly as possible.
Playing my first ever campaign and going tempest cleric! Excited for the mixed build.
I definitely love tempest the most. Storms and lightning are a cool asthetic and the proficency with heavy armor and martial weapons make it a real threat to go against
I mean, im playing as a Tempest Water Genasi cleric so u see where this is going
That sounds like a fun one!
Try a forge cleric, it's what the war cleric wants to be when it grows up...
Also forge cleric is an honorary artificer.
When it comes to channel divinity war cleric wins no contest
I love a forge cleric ... with +1 to ac and a ring of protection at level 3😅 my DMs bane lol
War and forge domain are like sky and earth. Forge domain is gods craftsman who lives to construct weapons and armory, and war domain is a crusader, who lives for war and conflict. War domain by abilities is a weaker paladin, and forge is leaning towards being a weaker battle Smith artificier.
Forge Cleric practically screams “Dwarf”!
Great list. :) I feel Arcana Cleric is underrated and probably my favorite, although Tempest is pretty awesome, too.
I can totally see the twilight domain being great for rp and flavor purposes!
I'm very sad to see that you didn't keep doing this stuff. I personally think you did a great job. I don't think the market was saturated but I think that you should have continued
Twilight Domain is my favourite by far! The prerequisite is a DM with brains and experience...
Also good to see Light cleric up there, still playing mine and I recently got fireball, cannot wait to try it out. Especially since I never played a wizard or sorcerer that can use it.
Haha! That's great! don't forget how much area that thing covers, you don't want to roast your teammates... ... unless..
Tempest to me is overplayed. It’s the cleric I see the most in groups. I really like light, forge, order, and trickery domains.
I wonder if that's because everyone wants to be Thor?🤔
Life domain is like the starter subclass while grave is the advanced level.
My personal favorite is the zeal domain which is a Planeshift Amohnket domain and it is a nice mix between the War and Tempest domains and is very very fun to play
That sounds fun, I'll have to look into that more!
Yeah! Tempest Cleric is the man!

What was the frustrating part about playing the war domain? Level 5 is always a nice level to hit as a player!
I’m playing a war cleric honest I felt op since lvl 3 shield of faith early makes you a tank against early enemies since most don’t have air or dex saving spells. Plus second hit is great for dealing more damage
Life Domain for the win! It is the best you can heal your friends like a boss! I want to play Garlic Bread domain one day too.
Just for flavor light, death and war are my favourites.
Light domain for me!
Best domain for fun! I have a scourge aasimar light domain cleric. AOE all day. So much fun.
Tempest is my favorite cleric and I'm on my third tempest cleric. A centaur tempest cleric and he is an absolute blast
Michael Nielson I agree. I’m playing a tortle tempest cleric right now in a pirate themed campaign and it’s so much fun. Call lightning is a blast to use in sea battle.
Your Third! That's so much lightning!
Who needs the sea when ur a water genasi tempest cleric
"Also has to cling to life because it's what's right, apparently."
I feel like I'm the odd one out here, playing a Charm domain undead serving a neutral deity, lol.
Great list though!
Life domain forever
hahaha! Life domain is pretty great!
On behalf of all PCs, we appreciate you.
DMs probably don't though ;p
In your opinion how would you create Marvel movies Thor’s new axe in D&D 5E? “Stormbreaker”. Playing a 5th level Tempest Cleric human.
Don't forgot! Tempest Cleric also has Heavy Armor and Martial Weapon Proficiency, making you a tanky stormcaller which is just absolutely awesome.
That's true. Being a heavily armored/weaponed death machine is half the fun!
just found your channel am binge watching your videos got to say you should try a nature cleric for the same reason you like war cleric and grave domain it walks the line between healing and nature magic and has heavy armour so can stride the battlefield dishing out damage and casting spells. mechanically heavy Armour lets you tank, shillelagh lets you dish out melee damage with your spell casting stat meaning you can max wisdom and your melee wont suffer and spells like spike growth give you excellent battlefield control on top of your cleric spells. Tempest jello?
5:14 Heh, heh, yeah! Fire, FIRE! Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh!

War domain clerics should be the holy protectors / buffers / battleground controllers, not the "i try the be a paladin but i can't hit hard enough".
I made a small rework of the war domain War Priest, wich works well at the table, without being OP :
War Priest : you can ask your god to protect you from injuries. as a reaction when you are hit by an attack, apply a holy shield to eventually counter it. The holy shield equals your Wis mod. and you can use it a number of time per long rest equal to your Wis. Mod. At level 6, you can use your channel divinity to apply it to an ally as a reaction.

That's a really clever alteration to War Priest. I agree that would make it much more viable vs using the spiritual weapon all the time.
My favorite domain is death but not this one
Gonna simp and say he's kinda hot.
Haha, there was the answer to my question in your last clip : what is your favourite cleric. I think my least favourite is Death. Tried it out and wasn’t impressed at all. Nature is tough to love, I agree. Why not a Druid instead. The one I’m most likely to play is Forge I think. Or a Light domain Pyromancer
i feel like there's not a lot of love for death clerics, but that serves them right for worshiping death deities!
And grave domain but I don’t like it either😂😂 well I don’t hate it either but I think there is more potential
so much more potential!
We talking 5e? pathfinder? Im watching the Cleric playlist and im lost. Looking on D20pfsrd i dont see a Forge Domain or a Tempest Domain.
These are for 5e Dungeons and Dragons, The forge domain is found in the Xanathar's guide to Everything Sourcebook, and the Tempest domain is in the Player's Handbook
I jumped into a 16lvl campaign 6 months ago. I made a fire genasi Blood Hunter Lycan (INT modifier). I was having a blast!
