I've got a centaur tempest cleric going, and while I totally picked a centaur because the capstone ability making for a flying centaur sounded funny, she's become my favorite character I've ever done. She washed up in a human settlement as a youngster after the ship she was on sank in a storm, and because the patron of this town was a god of sailors and fishermen she decided it was this god had saved her and dedicated her life to Their service. Whether that is true or not is up to my DM at this time. Tempest clerics are the best imo.
Firbolg arcane archer fighter level 12 and tempest cleric level 8. I cast guiding bolt, which gives me an advantage on my next attack. I use bonus action to dip my arrow in poison. I have thunderwave and other powerful spells to deal massive damage from afar. If I am in close quarters, switch to my halberd, dip it poison, and attack up to 3 times. Wrath of the storm allows me to counter attack with 2d8 lightning damage. Great weapon mastery allows me to attack again if I roll a 20. An dont forget the healing I provide!
dude how do you not have more subs???? this is very well made and has tons of great info in it. have yet to play a 5e game (my group plays 3.5) but i plan on making a tempest cleric for my first character if we ever get around too it.
I was honestly surprised by the quality of the video for such a small channel, great job man. You earned a sub. Hope to see you grow and get the attention you deserve.
One of the characters i play as is a triton tempest cleric called Oktaviyn Heroxes. Easily my most powerful characters. Plus the tritons sea and wind spells go really well with the tempest storm theme
Best domain IMO. Currently playing a Bronze Dragonborn Tempest Cleric, so even the breath weapon can be maxed out. The backstory is that as a Bronze Dragonborn he upholds goodness and law to protect those who are weaker than he using his storm born powers to destroy foes, or to heal and protect those he sees as good, but weaker.
I’m playing the same race and sub class. She’s chaotic though, as this campaign is in Eberron and she worships The Six. I also have a level of barbarian! 😂😂 there’s a calm, and then there’s a storm!
Good video. Currently playing a water Genasi tempest to Procan. Let me tell you after I hit fifth level one of the town council tried to accuse me of something and failed. Afterward I used a billowing cloak thaumaturge cantrip Fri glowing eyes and loud voice and ground tremors stood outside his house and declared that " this cleric was sent to help you and you have used and abused him do not bring down the wrath do not bring down the wrath do not bring down the wrath then made it rain inside his house. Then I stood attop a statue of Procan gave a similar speech with cantrip and used call lightning to take over a storm and hit another councilmans house and ships ( this one had tried to kill my character. Well let me tell you that whole town came to heel real quick and one councilman ran for the hills in the interior of the continent. At 4th I took heavy armor master, it has saved him in over half the games we have played sense. And not just him cause if he dropped then well you know.
@@TheRPGDaily takes after his diety. But he is also the cleric that walked through the poorest section of town giving free healing to those in need whom couldn't pay otherwise and not medicine skill but any spell he could cast and covered any component cost himself, forget what it was but someone needed a spell with a cost
@@TheRPGDaily also he had from the beginning taken care of the people of the town asking nothing. After his family was killed when he was trying to find out information it was out of town people telling him what locals said they didn't bring it to me. That changed him. Then one of the council members was involved in killing his mentor and former priest of the temple and tried to blame him. So yeah he let that aspect of his diety show in himself.
Subbed and will be notified. Just watched the nature video. Starting a campaign tomorrow as a bronze Ravenite tempest... gimme the tips! Set in Eberron. Divine intervention may do NOTHING!
Great video ! The Tempest domain is also my favorite Cleric subclass. Just a clarification though on the Thunderbolt Strike ability..it only works for Lightning damage, which means only Call Lightning and Wrath of the Storm. It would be too powerful if it worked with Thunder (due in large part to the Divine Strike damage type being Thunder).
@@TheRPGDaily there's also a way to get around it currently and that's by simply taking the gift of the chromatic Dragon feat which gives you the ability to add lightning damage to your weapon attacks.
Swap the 5th level domain spell 'Sleep Storm' with Thunderstep, for a more fun option, imo. Also, as it will also deal thunder damage, so it gives another option for the Tempest cleric's 'Channel Divinity' option of doing max damage on a Thunder or Lightning damage spell, and they get it at level 5. They also get 'Call Lightning' at level 5, so using either 5th level domain spell gives the cleric a chance to use their channel divinity option. The Tempest domain cleric being able to wear heavy armour and use martial weapons, is a nice bonus that not all clerics get.
Minor correction Thunderbolt Strike only works on Lightning Damage not on Thunder Damage. It is important because you actually get fewer Lightning than Thunder Options.
I cant wait to play my tempest cleric.. I made her a Tabaxi that got struck by lightning twice, and thus deemed as "a fine lightning rod" by her homebrew God. He basically doesn't realize he can keep his followers happy by keeping them safe, so instead he uses my Tabaxi Tempest Cleric as his tax collector. Roaming from sea-town to sea-town to remind everyone that my god has the power to drown them all, or zap them all.. or both, if they dont pray/make sacrifices/donations.. Basically my cat hates it because she hates the rain yet now she has to wield these storm powers. Gonna be so much fun to roleplay xD
Tempest cleric is very fun to play at all levels. Theres always something you can do to help your party, or vaporize some azzhole over there sonewhere.
It may be more or less intimidating if the tempest cleric is an Irish halfling. Also I think they should have lightning resistance early on and immunity later. Maybe the same with thunder damage, I don't think that's too much as thunder is much less common. I just like the idea of being this living conduit of elemental destruction. Pulsateing with visible electrical bolts channeling around your armor and moving it as your samatic componets.

This was really helpful since I'm working on building my first character which is a dragonborn tempest cleric.
Also... He's quite attractive

also new sub from me :)
Thanks for finding me and subbing! There's a lot that go into a sub count but I'm close to 1000 which means i'll get the community tab soon! (I hope)

Thank you! I just gotta keep working at it!

Yeah, that would go together like peas and carrots!

That sounds like a blast to play, you've got lightning for days!

Sounds like a rather vindictive cleric! hahaha!

Thunderbolt strike doesn’t move someone if u hit a create with thunder OR lightning damage it’s only lightning damage
Great Richard!
I would thin War Caster pretty early, or at least by the time your using Call Lightning d/t the Concentration requirement on it, and being in melee.

Thunderbolt strike only knocks people back with lightning damage, not thunder damage
