Quick correction: I said "Twilight Domain Spells" was composed of all spells that are not on the Cleric spell list. I forgot Tasha's added Aura of Vitality and Aura of Life to the Cleric spell list. List update: I raised Death and Trickery in my rankings after revisiting them. You can read my article for the updated ranks.
I completely agree. Everyone loves a Cleric... at least until they don't get healed in a moment of need hahaha. (even if it's tactically correct) I'm looking forward to your overview/review of all the Candlekeep Mysteries one-shots.
Clerics really are great. I've not played with anyone who was unhappy with their Cleric character. They're great for new and seasoned players. I love that the Arcana Cleric grabs a few Wizard spells. We're pleased you're enjoying the channel, thank you for saying so!
For the Knowledge Domain Cleric, there is only one (count, 1) build I would consider playing myself. Race: Variant Human (Fey-Touched -> Silvery Barbs) Classes: Cleric (Knowledge) 6+, Ranger (Fey Wanderer) 7+ It's the only way I could justify choosing the Knowledge domain over something else, and still comes online to where I'd want it pretty late.
@@FlutesLoot Haha, yeah. :D I'd envision them a sort of charming, innocent information broker between the Feywild and the material plane, traveling the world under the guise of a performer of some sort. Apparently super-charismatic, but when the push comes to shove, their charisma saving throws (which I see as a kind of "stubborness" of personality) wouldn't actually be all that great. They would probably be pretty flighty. Quick to anger, quick to forgive.
My dude, I'll be playing a Hill Dwarf Grave Domain cleric in an upcoming campaign!! I'm kinda surprised that you didn't mention the level 1 ability called Circle Of Mortality(unless I missed something?)!! You get to perform max healing to an ally within 30 feet of you that drops to zero HP, AND you get the Spare The Dying cantrip as a bonus action and at a range of 30 feet(normally an action at touch range)!! I'm definitely going to get a lot of uses of that ability and I can't wait to try it out!!
Well, right now, I'm playing a Light domain cleric, so I'm a bit bias. Very cool domain. Even if Radiance of Dawn dosen't scale well overtime, it's still a good AOE. A Light domain cleric is basically a holy blaster mage.
Clerics are fantastic, so all of them make great characters! :) Light Clerics are very powerful at low levels, which is where most campaigns take place.
Playing a Trickery Cleric in a game currently and he's my favourite character of any I've ever made not just because of his personality but also the extremely fun mechanics and spells of the Trickery Domain.
I'd love to hear if you have any updates on your opinions of the subclasses a year + since this video. I have enjoyed playing life and twilight clerics, and would like to try trickery next!
I will certainly do that in 2024 when the game is updated. Right now, I think every time I look at my rankings, I always think "oh, I should move that one up" or "hmm, I overvalued that one" so it depends on the day, haha.
Hi Samuel, thank you for the feedback. It's a microphone issue. Turning up the volume can make it crackle. I am playing around with different mics to see what's best, so quality should improve as I figure them out. Have a great day!
I agree Twilight is OP, but I live with it. I'm nearly immortal with my Barbarian character when the Twilight Cleric's Channel Divinity is pumping me up with temporary hitpoints each round as I resist damage. Light Cleric is fine for low-level campaigns, but I find that it's really just Fireball Cleric. They don't augment that specialty, they just can blast better than most Clerics, and those blasts drop off quickly. I like the idea of using Spirit Guardians, Spiritual Weapon, and Fireball for assault mode. :P
I agree that Light is underrated. Warding Flare is great to keep up concentration and to help avoiding crits to all party members. Wall of fire for battlefield control etc.
@@rosi4510 you certainly might be right. I find that the bottom of the list of Cleric domains is a close race for me and any of them could be switched around depending on the type of campaign. Domains with heavy armor proficiency tended to climb the ranks of the list, so maybe I'm biased. I also enjoy playing support more than blaster, and Light doesn't do that for me (it has support tools, but I prefer other domains).
@@FlutesLoot Hey! Heavy Armor is better for melee combat clerics but with dex 14 it's just 1 AC ahead. There are a few support subclasses that are supporting better but omo Cleric is more than support and healing. At the moment we play Curse of Stradh and against undead my light cleric is perfect. :-) anyway it‘s good to have different opinions!
I generally agree with most of your rankings and ratings here. i think the only subclass ranking we are far from each other is the death domain. i think that's a top 5 cleric subclass and you think it's not even top 10. oh and the life cleric since i don't put much value in focusing on the healing role in 5e. i'm also stingy with giving top ranks (5* for your system). I typically give the top rank to only 1 subclass to show off which i think is the best subclass. @@FlutesLoot yeah reacted to that vid too. I've been going through your content. I think i'm almost done with the stuff which i'm interested in. Great content Flutes!
Great video man! Just found your channel while searching around for various Cleric subclasses, you’ve got a new subscriber!!! Keep it up thanks :)
Thanks StarTrakZack! Glad to have you around :)

Big fan of the twilight cleric. In all honesty though, everyone is happy to have any cleric in the party!

I'm die hard for Trickery and Nature. These are subclasses that wreck encounters! Love am!
I believe I'd enjoy playing them. I think Invoke Duplicity matches my playstyle. I also enjoy supportive abilities like Dampen Elements.

Hey, Oreon Peregrino! I've never had a bad time playing a Cleric. It's such a solid class!
And thank you for subbing. We won't let you down!
Twilight Cleric is overpowered imo. I was surprised to see Light Cleric so low - it is one of my faves for a 'blastier' cleric.

For the War Cleric, I would swap Flame Strike for Destructive Wave. Same level, better area, and more thematically appropriate.
That would be an improvement
