I heard a lot of the guys out there prefer hook and dee fDNY closure to the zipper, zipper gets stuck and corroded too easily, I’m still surprised most departments use zippers tbh

I've used gear thats brand new, and gear that's 8-9 years old. Not once have I encountered a "corroded" zipper or a zipper getting stuck.

Good stuff, I heard leather gloves and boots can trap carcinogens and cant be washed out

How much does the bunker gear weigh not counting the breathing apparatus?

How come all this gear failed the firefighter in maryland when he fell into the basement?

Bunker gear can only withstand so much heat for a certain amount of time. It doesn't make us invincible basement fires tend to be more dangerous because they aren't as easily located and the floor above it won't always show that it is structurally sound

@@WildfireBT-2918 2 firefighters fell into the basement with hose yet only 1 was rescued how could this be possible?? And why was the rescue attempt so slow? I went to this house and the basement seemed escapable as it was also a huge garage with ferraris etc parked in it.

@@cutterbacon I cannot tell you any of that since I wasn't there. I was just going off of prior knowledge about basements and ppe

I can’t say anything because I was not present when it happened. Most departments set up their Employees with different gear then others. For example: FDNY has different gear for tech-rescue but Wellington doesn’t have that team if that makes any sense. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to Wellington Fire, or myself,

Not sure what you mean but the gear isn't suppose to really save you if the floor collapse, Basement fires are extremely dangerous even if it was escapable I don't know much so I can't answer much. But the air pack has a mayday button takes about 60 seconds of it being still for it to activate automatically and if you press it it will activate immediately. Rescue might take time as their a lot of movement probably with in the building a lot fire fighter tend to drop what their doing and tend to their fall brothers and sisters but that counter productive unless your near the victim it best to stay out the way to allow rescue to get their with minimal obstructions and allows you to control the fire so rescue can get the person(s) out safely, the guys could've been pinned knocked out ot confused as falling through floor can impair your idea of the place, I notice you mention their was a car in it and I am curious how come they could cut through the garage door and pulled them out easily and also want to know how long they were in the building or how serious the fire was my grandpa a battalion chief with FDNY says typically they will try to pull out guys if they see signs of it getting out of control and it no longer worth saving best to move to exterior operations to protect surronding property. It also important to note a lot of guys can get tunneled vision and forget protocol saw this in my area when a guy decide to hang form a window instead of using his window escape pack to repel down
