Great Video Skyler! Tower Ladders, the Largest Fleet of Aerialscopes in The World!!!!🚒 The passed fleet was all 75'ers. Now 95'ers!! The "Backbone" 🦴 of the FDNY Fleet!! The "Cavemen" should be proud! 👍👍👍🗽Thanks
FDNY TOWER LADDER 35 - 'THE CAVEMEN'. Great badass graphics. Great history. One of my faves in the awesome, 2nd to none FDNY fleet. Thanks Skyler. P.S. - All the particulars/information you provided (spoken & written) were top notch. Well done.
Great walk around and explanation of the bucket truck. I'm a retired Federal Agent and I had the second best job I think anyone could have....the members of the FDNY being the first.
Thanks Skyler for Another Great Fleet Friday! TL35 is one AWESOME looking rig! 👏 Ive Always wondered what kind of equipment TL's carry and especially what the inside of the bucket looked like and the controls inside the bucket and Now I know! Thanks again Skyler!👍
@@SkylerFire You're Welcome Skyler! And Yep each company is and should be different. That's why Fleet Friday's are so interesting because you show the differences of different companies and apparatus👍Keep up the Great Work and have a Nice Weekend!👍👍
Another awesome video. I was thinking maybe you could do a Fleet Friday showing the FDNY's Towing and Maintanance Division. I saw another video with an FDNY flatbed tow truck. Maybe some day you could make one.
I am from germany, so its very nice to see you guys massives rigs upclose. I have a question for you, tho. Are you a member for the department? Or how do you get such front row access to the machines, being able to touch and show us everything?
Many wonder how Engine 40 and Ladder 35 have become known as "The Cavemen." During the period of 1988 to 1993, a 60 story high rise building was built over top of the firehouse forcing the companies to be relocated to a temporary firehouse located under Lincoln center in one of the garages. The firehouse had no windows and consisted of many narrow passages to get around. During this time frame, the men of house were trying to create a patch for the companies that fit the firehouse. The suggestion for "The Cavemen" was made and the rest is history. The name still suits the firehouse today because of the lack of windows our firehouse has. Being situated under a 60 story high-rise doesn't leave much room between the columns for windows. The number of windows is so low that we refer to the locker room window as "the view."
Always great content, always love looking at your posts.. I think TL115 was mistakenly forgotten. They are based in Long Island City, and housed with E258.
So I will get more details but when they did the new firehouse they where quarters inside Lincoln center in like a parking garage entrance which is like a cave. They had no windows or anything
Each saw is tested at your change. 0900 and 1800 each day 365. Of something is wrong they send it to tool shops and will get a spare saw for time being.
info thanks again just wondering if there’s any rhyme or reason on having the different ladders whether it be a straight stick tiller or tower ladder. and the soc support Do they use a certain type of ladder or are all the above used thanks.
It’s for Winter Ops so they all carry hose and nozzles. In the event the engine can’t get to the hydrant or they arrive first they have the ability to stretch in off the hydrant. Another reason I believe is for community relations purposes, school events, they can have a line off the hydrant for the kids.
Any particular reason the tower ladders aren't standardized in lengths? Why not just make all of them 95 ft. in length? Also, that the company has extrication tools - how many MVA's do they run and do they do more than just simple door pops? I ask because the cribbing compartment is next to nothing. You're not going to crib much of anything with a few pieces of wooden blocks.
The length of the truck will have a large rear end swing. A lot of tight streets in NYC. All Ladders have extrication tools. If it’s a Heavy Pin a Squad and Rescue also respond. Tower Ladder 35 covers the West Side Highway I would say 45% of there calls are MVAs
Is there anything better than a Seagrave tower ladder I think not great video.there is a great book out on this fire house from 9/11 a must read it’s FIREHOUSE by David Halberstam.

Ladder 32 has been up. Squad 18 & 2nd Piece coming soon
Thanks for the tour
You bet
Great closeup look at a tower ladder. Very impressive and a vast improvement over the old “cherry pickers.” How did they get the nickname “Cavemen?”

Hello Skyler! Thanks so much for sharing! Really nice Ladder 👍🚒 Can you make a video about HMTU ,HM1 or HMB please? Thank you so much!
You will have to wait and see. I don’t believe much is on the Hazmat Battalion.
@@SkylerFire Ok
Thanks! That was super interesting! How high off the ground can the buckets go?
90 something
Did the driver have a leather? I thought they weren’t allowed
They can have them.
Great info Skyler! Why are they known as the CAVEMEN, any particular reason for the name?
So I will get more details but when they did the new firehouse they where quarters inside Lincoln center in like a parking garage entrance which is like a cave. They had no windows or anything
Did I miss it or were there no PPV fans on that truck?
Just the box fan. Other fans are on the High Rise Units and Vent Support (CPCs)
What does FDNY do for saw maintenance is it up to each house to maintain them or do they have centralized maintenance shop for small engine repairs?
Each saw is tested at your change. 0900 and 1800 each day 365. Of something is wrong they send it to tool shops and will get a spare saw for time being.
info thanks again just wondering if there’s any rhyme or reason on having the different ladders whether it be a straight stick tiller or tower ladder. and the soc support Do they use a certain type of ladder or are all the above used thanks.
Tower Ladders are mainly used for removing victims, Master streams. Sticks are used as a regular ladder. Tillers are for tight streets
How many years do you hold onto the portable ladders?
Usually once they get a new rig 10-12 years they get new ones and then they go into spare equipment
I just saw the truck that does free CPR training that might make for a good fleet Friday
Eh idk. Doing only staffed units
Why does the truck have nozzles ?
It’s for Winter Ops so they all carry hose and nozzles. In the event the engine can’t get to the hydrant or they arrive first they have the ability to stretch in off the hydrant.
Another reason I believe is for community relations purposes, school events, they can have a line off the hydrant for the kids.
Surprised you didn't get a ride in the bucket.
Hahaaha
OV? Outside Vent?
Yes
Why did they replace the old rig with that one? Wasn't it like 1 year old?
They changed to a 95 footer….
Their old 75ft rig was reassigned to TL -22
@@jerrykirsch2597 yup

Why is there a lack of actual fire videos?
I am on vacation….
Was a new/ longer aerial retrofitted on the 2022 chassis or just a whole new 95’ reassigned/swapped into the station?
The 75 footer went to TL22 and they got a new 95 footer
@@SkylerFire Figured something like that occurred. Thank you and love your work! 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for watching
How much does a fully equipped ladder cost?
FDNY Ladders don’t come with equipment. What’s given is new ground ladders and Battery operated hurst tools. 1.8 million something around there
RIP Ray Pfeifer E40

Would u be able yo do station videos r not?
No videos are not permitted inside firehouses
