For me as a former firefighter with dangerous goods training very interesting how it works in the USA. What I notice is that the chemical protection suits are almost the same in Germany and the USA. Difference: in Germany the boots are firmly attached to the suit.
I hope you did that when it was a bit cooler out! I wouldn't want to be in that suit even for a minute today. Great to see a military brother doing good in retirement!
As i coachbuilder for 13 years i can confirm these bespoke build are FRIGGIN expensive. The hours involved with designing and building these things is mindboggling. Those shutters are a PITA especially when the office staff order the wrong size shutters and you have already built the vehicle 😡 you then have to make the vehicle fit the shutters because havent got 6 weeks to wait for the replacement... bad times when paired with the bespoke shelving that pulls out on rails which needs altering to suit. We built a twin deck Firefighting unit as a curtainsider that could carry 8 IBC units that could be individually tapped into to the internal pipework for spraying all sorts of retardants for every type of fire it even had it own forklift (moffett) on the back. To this day ive never seen a forklift with a its own blue light on top of it since :D
two of the things i love about fire fighters ...first the thinking for every sanareo you can and second if theres an open square inch found in the truck then it will be filled with something usefull

I was thinking about either doing volunteer firefighting or volunteer EMS. I knew a few people that did volunteer firefighting.

Are you referring to a Draeger CO2 scrubber/O2 generator (aka rebreathers)? If so I didn't see any in the video. I did see some SCBA O2 tanks made by Draeger through. SCBA has been in use in the US for almost seven decades. Yes some departments are transitioning to rebreathers aka (co2 scrubber/O2 generator, Draeger).
@itz_cam-ok1hq Thanks for the clarification. Here in the US, Draeger has become an industry buzzword for rebreathers and not just a brand. Kind of how Klenex has become synonymous with facial tissue.
Besides the obvious differences between this hazmat truck and the other one you did, were there any other differences? I mean like gear or stuff like that.
But how do you take off your suit after its exposed to the radiation? Does anotherone who wore a suit helps you to take it off? or do you spray something on the suit and then take it off?
There is a documentary abouth the Berlin fire department and they showed it as part of the academy portion where there are different zones and different processes are carried out. This is the documentary of course it's in Germany so it may vary to the US th-cam.com/video/SN-S4djoi1I/w-d-xo.html
@@Comic_Saens yeah yeah yeah, not what about panic buttons, the button on the SCBA, and other stuff as mentioned? Also kinda hard to take your gloves off when it is attached plus as soon as bare skin is exposed you have to get out.
Typically, no. The entry suit is the PPE. Wouldn’t typically layer PPE. Station uniform is usually worn under a B or A suit. And in summer, the less the better under an A suit.
The class A suits are kinda like a space suit you could say no air in no air out with also means no heat can escape its a very very taxing piece of PPE
@@DennyReichard ok we will work on it. Thx for watch. This was my first edit solo. And I had a ton of music and sound issues to correct. That’s why it was late release.

Military equipment is very similiar and it makes me mad, This should be much cheaper to departmants like this, no way this is a million+ when ive seen missiles cost less.
Many American fire fighting organizations don’t realize that whoever designs these trucks have the ability to make them smaller and simpler. Europe has smaller firefighter trucks and still provide the same level of response
Following what I have seen in Germany, the reason why they have smaller apparatus is since they have RoRo (roll on roll off container trucks/ swap body) trucks but it's true smaller apparatus can be used but in reality it's the preference of the department

I’m probably the only Gen Z’er on the planet who can still read paper maps, and actually prefers them over GPS. Google maps can run out of service, and even physical GPS consoles can fail.
