These are wonderful bikes for those who prefer the dragstrip over the racetrack. Very comfortable for everyday sportbike riding. They also handle surprisingly well in the twisties. Because you like this one so much you should also try the Concours 14. One of most versatile go fast bikes on the planet. Take the bags off in literally a few seconds and go for a serious rip. Or put the bags back on and do a cross country ride with speed and comfort. 👍

I just git back from a 5600 mile trip on my 2017 GTR1400 ! I love Kawasaki ! I also have a ZX12R as well. But as far as long distances GTR1400 is the way to go, and they can giddy up if needed. I have over 30K on my ZX12R don't know if I will ever get rid of it. The ZX14R or the H2 is two of the bikes that have my interest.

I have a 2018 ZX10RR, a 2016 H2 with full Brock's Stage II @ 284hp and a 2015 ZX14R with brocks full exhaust and an ECU tuned to maximize it. If I could keep only 1 bike, the ZX14R would be it. The power comes on strong from low RPM, the power curve is linear. The long wheel base is stable at speed and controllable in a power-drift. The purchase price is ridiculously low when considering its performance. The riding position is more comfortable than the litre bikes and I can easily stay in the saddle of the 14 for three times as long without neck pain. For me, insurance is lower than the other 2 as well. There is my 27-cents. I hope someone benefits from or enjoys it. Rock On !

I was riding in traffic on a 65 mph highway and a guy on a 600 sportbike was on an on-ramp and saw me. There was no traffic ahead and this guy waves byebye to me and takes off. He got up to 150 or so, then I blew by him at 190+.
I've done long trips (4000+ miles in 12 days), daily commuting (110 miles per day), putting around town, and drag strip runs. Great all-around bike. Ride it to the drag strip and run 9's at 150, then ride home. I'm on my second ZX14, my first one was totaled when a deer jumped a guard rail and landed in my chest. It had 25k miles on it. The one I'm on now has almost 20k. I got both of mine at Sport Cycles in Rockingham, NC for $11,995 brand new, 2012 and 2015. Don't pay MSRP. The 2019 is $12,198 at Sport Cycles...

The ergonomics is what keeps me buying this bike i have ridden 600 mile in a day and not be hurting.

I had a zx14 for 11 years and I have had a zx14 R for nearly 2 years. 13years. 110,000 kms. First where you are in Texas, near Lake Dunlap. Its almost like West Australia where I live except for all the F250s....which cost over $100,000 here. We used to make F150s , they were affordable for anyone, but that was ages ago. We call them Utes.
Anyway the dry bush....woodland...and houses and roads are identical to hete.
So the bike. I watched on my tv and could read that you were usually just riding around at 40 mph. Thats not really testing such a machine. Its not just a straight line bike at all. You can ride one all day, on any surface, including gravel roads, tight bends or sweepers. Our roads are like yours , only quieter, and I ride at 80 to 95 mph, with the bike at half revs. Thete are 3 power bands. 0 to 5000 rpm, its mild to grunty. 5000 to 7000 its wow. 7000:it takes off into intense hyperspeed. You can tool around in 6th gear down to 30 mph. Ypu can crack the throttle in 6th at 60mph and pass 3 trailer trucks...we have hundreds on the road where I live in the wheat belt....usually Macks or Kenworths and be doing 130 plus as you pass the prime mover . You only need half throttle and do not need to change down. In Europe on the Autobahn you could probably ride from Amsterdam to Poland in a day. These bikesare marvellous. They will spoil almost any other bike experience for you, as nothing compares to the mid range grunt. They are like driving a v8. Buy one , embrace a new dimension.

Listening to you reminds me of when I bought mine back in the spring of 2012. I drove 55 miles to a little Kawasaki shop in Pahrump, NV., which had one sitting in their showroom. The local Vegas dealers were all out and wanted a grand just to order one. Jerks. I dumped the cans, flashed the ECU (highly recommended). It's my daily driver year round. Smooth in low rpm for extended periods and even smoother the higher the rpm's go. It's true, this bike is best the faster you go. Every morning when I go out to the garage I smile knowing I own the most badass bike around.

@@YougottaBKidding The ECU (Engine Control Unit) controls the amount of fuel and ignition advance and other parameters an internal combustion engine needs to run under the current conditions. The ECU does this by monitoring inputs including throttle position, rpm, gear position, air temperature and coolant temperature.
Stock ECU's generally are far from optimal and are developed to allow for a wide range of riding styles, fuel quality and operational conditions. The result of this is often a compromise resulting in suboptimal performance. Significant improvements can be achieved through correcting the stock ECU's deficiencies and tuning the engine to take full advantage of it's potential.
ECU Flashing is the process of updating the software that runs on your bikes ECU. This allows you to change various maps and settings in your ECU and significantly improve the performance of your engine. The Woolich Racing Tuned software works with our products to allow you to adjust the maps and flash those changes to your bike's ECU. (from Woolich Racing website).

Theres always debate over "Best street bike" R1, V4, RSV... but they dont even come close. The ZX14R is the unmatched king of the "Street" bike. Its comfy, and smooth at low rpm in traffic, has room for you to move around. Has the weight which helps with cross wind. The longer wheel base helps you put down ALOT more power where you're gonna be using it most of the time. And it's just an ungodly rocket ship still!

They are comfortable and manageable for a senior citizen. Thats how flexible they are. Thats how easy and stable at speed they are. They have gobs of engine braking.. So if a grandfather can blast around on one so can you younger guys. I do not hang around on mine, but hold back if the dementia is profound.

I hate being too old to ride this bike. In 1990 the ZX-11 came out and I immediately bought one. Even though its 127 horsepower seems puny by the standards of today, I think the feeling the ZX-14R rider is trying to convey is exactly the same I felt on the ZX-11 in 1990: Twisting the throttle does not result in more power to overcome the forces of inertia and drag; rather you are relaxing the ties that bind the machine to an unnaturally low rate of movement down the road. The more throttle, the more eagerly the machine approaches its natural state of effortless, eye-watering speed. It achieves this so easily, so gracefully, and in such an understated manner that the rider feels a pang of guilt when the onrushing horizon, so far away a moment ago, demands that he immediately bind the machine back into a condition of unwilling deceleration and torpor. That is the heart of the ZX experience.

I have a 2018, and am absolutely in love with her. Once I got off the factory tires, which wore very well, but made me religious too often, that love deepened. I am very tall and most sportbikes do not work for me, this one sure does.
Riding tip, should one wish to kick up their heels in corners with the 14, "ya gotta move your body". Not to the lengths of trying to drag knees, but tuck that inside knee forward on the fairing - gas tank and get those shoulders over to the fairing edge or even farther. Be aware of where your butt is in its fore or aft position, or you may trigger your KTRAC on corner exit.
Ride for life cause riding is living!

I had an FJR1300 and want that experience with more power and less weight, and the ZX is that experience with even more refinement. And I love that Kawi gave it full Brembo braking up front! I always love when a new review comes out on one of my bikes, especially when it’s Duke!
Wish you could have tested in the corners, it handles better than you would think. It’s probably not as fun as some purely because you can’t use all the power coming out, if that makes sense. I also own a ninja 400 as an example and that through the twisties is ridiculously fun because it suits my ability and I can use the engine and gear box to its full potential. I’ve never been able to use the 14 to anywhere near it’s full potential but that’s also what makes it interesting.

I've had 3 of these. Done 400,000 miles in total on them. I ride 10 hours a day, 5 days a week as a courier in London but do a lot of long distance. Often 500+ miles a day.
Best Bike Ever for the job, and I've been doing it for 28 years!
They do corners really well but respond to a bit of manhandling!!! A 55 section rear helps as it gives a rounder profile.
One of my 14's made 196bhp at the rear and did 205mph on GPS!!!
Super reliable too as they're quite over-engineered. The only recurring problems I had were rear wheel bearings disintegrating.
    200 miles tank range too!!!
It really is an EVERYTHING bike!!!

I have a 2017 special edition model and live in country Australia. Only had it for a month, but took it for it's first mountain run last Saturday with my partner and this beast did everything right. So easy to ride and you feel right at home as soon as you hit the first corner. If you are looking for a bike that you can commute with, go to the shop with or get out onto the open road with, this is the bike for you.

The laughing at the 2 min mark sums this bike up. Everyone does it on their first ride :) I also have been riding a long time (35 years plus) and have ridden lots of bikes, from the early 90s superbikes , Gpz 1100 FI, and 750 Turbos, to the Modern BMW1300S and MT10s and everything in between. I rode a Gen 1 ZX14R back in 2006 which was tuned to 195bhp at the back wheel and was blown away by it, but I was happy at the time. Last year I finally brought my Gen 2 - its is a truly astonishing bike! Great for everything - touring , track days, commuting and excellent 2 up. Loads pf people fir the 3 hard luggage cases for touring too.
But the engine is in a different league than anything else, the fecking power is insane and making every ride a buzz - even in the wet.
To ride this bike should be on everyones bucket list :)

Updated the bike, installed a full system Yoshi R77 and had the ECU flashed by Schnitz Racing.....it sounds absolutely awesome now and the flash has made a massive difference. I feel the M4 wasn't set up correctly, but I may be wrong.

    • @beerwulf6770
      @beerwulf6770 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tpatrick6902 with the M4 pipe, i'm not 100% certain it was flashed. I was told it was. Then I had Schntiz map the ECU to the R77 and the difference is unbelievable. It feels that it has way more power than it had. I'm no expert on who to go to for the best ECU flash but it was like riding a new bike. The acceleration has improved, it feels smoother too, all I can say it was worth $225.

Owned one. Slightly earlier model. I always referred to it as the "hand of God behind me", or the "magic carpet ride". Epic 3 day x-country ride in January. 3 days, no kidding, and no problem. So comfortable. 85 mph and raining and I did not get a drop on me with a slight tuck, the wind protection was so good. ... BUT!!!!!
It was dang hot in stop and go traffic in the summers of Texas and Oklahoma. Hottest bike I owned, and she broke my heart. Too hot to ride most of the summer, most of the time.

You cannot even throw on a slip on or it will run lean. My friend bought his this year as well, this is some of the problems after he did mods and found out late.

Sadly the last now 2020. I’m keeping my 2013, this are like bentleys for crossing continents . My mates on there hp4s r1ms and Ducatis are wanting breaks and sore when we go on long days out. Im looking at a Norton v4rr as a stable mate, .. I’ve road Ducati v4s and hp4 but I much preferred jumping back on the zx14r . These only need a remap to smooth out the line and give you power below 5k and open the flys.or remove , take out the cats.. Not recommended to put quick shifters on as they destroy the gearbox, there’s few that have survived but it is a risk. Also get the suspension set for you weight and style it makes a massive difference
