Hey Chaps! This was SUCH a tough call - S22 better for photos, iPhone for video maybe??
UPDATE 1: the text is reversed at 00:15 for the cinematic video, iPhone is 4k, s22 is 1080p
UPDATE 2: It’s okay to disagree with me - these videos are more about helping you make a decision. I’m just giving my 2 cents 😊

Great video as usual! 😊 But I dont agree that iphone handles skin tones better. I literally compared ur skin tone in ur own video and the pictures from iphone 14 and s22. S22 pictures are more close to ur skin tone referred from ur video. Skin tone from iPhone is orangy and yellowish...

Forget all this Samsung vs Apple crap. in my opinion, all the flagship phones are pretty fantastic. All you need to decide is if you want to be on Android or iOS (Mac OS etc). The advantages on both sides are robust and the shortcomings are also equally there. For eg.: Apple Ecosystem is pretty expensive to maintain, but everything works seamlessly with updates to almost everything for at least 6-7 years (give or take), even for OS. On the Android side, you have so many options that your prices can vary from peanuts to things that are more expensive than even the apple ecosystem. Things might not work as seamlessly as on Apple, but you have way too many options to make it work the way you want to. Apple locks you in, Android lets you choose what you like to do. Once you decide which side you want to be on, its easy to set your home and your life according to it.

If in this test i see the iphone's colors a little less contrasty to the samsung then i still prefer samsung over apple for most shots even if it's 7months older. not to mention the blueish tint similar to pixel phones that s22u makes is more appealing at least for me.

Thank you for the comparison, it was very informative. One note from a hobby-photographer point of view--when reviewing the still shots, particularly outdoors, a little bit of clipping, and some detail lost to shadows is not always a bad thing. This can be preferable to a scene with more detail, because the extra detail has been artificially extracted through exposure adjustments that come at the cost of contrast. When comparing specs, we often get caught up in pixels, zoom, focus, and other measurable detail, but contrast is really important to a good photo. Several of the iPhone photos you deemed superior come out looking a bit flat next to the Samsung (ironically, a classic Samsung issue only a few generations back). If you only pay attention to contrast while rewatching the video, I think you will see what I mean. I prefer the Samsung outside, for zoom, and in most of the bokeh shots. The iPhone is better in video, and indoors the lighting is better, so I'm not really sure which I prefer at the end.

There's no way for any phone to get as good as the s22 ultra cameras, also the iPhone 14 pro max latest feature that mainly made a lot of people wanna upgrade from iPhone 13 to 14 Is the action mode, which is already there in the s22 ultra (super steady mode). Obviously they are already using the lidar sensor for it, but if you understand how the sensor works, you will know it's not that simple for edge detection. The lidar infrared sensor is just projecting a dot matrix which has a lot of gap in between, so it's just giving the camera a rough idea of the distance of certain points in the picture. For edge detection they need machine learning algorithms to do image segmentation on all the edges and lidar is only a hint for it because it's just a very low resolution info.
