    Thanks for this video! I had the VGT Oil Wear error code that stayed on after the oil service. The Schwaben Scanner, also known as Foxwell NT510 (~$150) can reset transfer case adaptation. I just found the path and completed this on my 2007 X3. First, in the Main Groups select SERVICE. Then select DRIVE. Then select TRANSMISSION CONTROL VTG. Then select OIL Change. Then you will see text stating to turn ignition on and do not start engine, select OK. The you will see text stating that next step is adaptation, select OK. I could hear mechanical movement under the vehicle. After this. I cleared the oil wear error code and it has stayed off.

    Great video. Where do you get the software and scanner that you used to reset after the fluid change? Also, do you have a link for the service manual you are using?

    I have a 2004 BMW X5 3.0 I just change the transfer case oil because it was leaking from the drain plug. do I have to reset it on a computer?

  • @mr2_mike
    @mr2_mike 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did this fluid change a few months ago. No computer resets or calibrations at that time. I have DIS v57, but my error codes would not reset for the VTC. So odd. I will try again with everything at operating temps. Any ideas? Also how did you get to the reset and calibration screen? I can get to the part where you select oil change. Then it appears to do nothing when I click on it. Do you click a button at the bottom after? Is the vehicle running when you're doing this calibration/oil change reset?

    Does the 2004 bmw x3 2.5l 4d SUV require the computer to be reset after fluid changes done to the differential and transfer case?

    • @BluePurpleRed
      @BluePurpleRed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edwardarquillo8922 That’s a bit more complicated, as you really should drop the pan for the transmission, replace all the bolts and the gasket, and the built-in filter. There’s also a complicated procedure where you need to turn the car on and let it run for a few minutes so that the transmission fluid rises to a certain temperature and then you fill it up so that the fluid drips out of the fill hole.

    Question, would this solve a 4x4 light? Or should I rebuild the transfer case? Because when I bought the car it had the 4x4 light on but absolutely no symptoms of anything wrong. A few months later the three lights came on and I had a friend use the laptop and he got everything to turn off for about a month and only the 4x4 light came on. Then I changed the gear in the solenoid and drove a few more months and now the car is acting as if one wheel is binding or I could imagine it’s like what a welded differential-would kind of preform, where you weld it so your car drifts better. I hear trying to turn with that is a pain. Anyways I can’t take the god awful noise it makes when turning and moving.
    Hopefully this provides you some kind of idea on the possible cause that maybe if you see this you could answer
    Thanks in advance.
    Great video by the way maybe I should try this as a cheaper alternative to just going for rebuilding it because honestly that doesn’t sound like fun AT ALL.

    • @AndyNav1
      @AndyNav1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be the ABS not the transfer case. You may need to reactivate your ABS. Why don't you use a scanner it'll tell you what's wrong.

    • @alisuger
      @alisuger 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same problem I figured out that it was not the transfer case but the transfer case actuator its right next to it. You take it off and replace the plastic wheel and add some grease to it and the 4x4 will go away

    • @Bmanfresh
      @Bmanfresh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    USE PLASTIC WHEEL REPLACEMENT FOR YOUR TRANSFER GEAR ACTUATOR wheel , NEVER USE METAL ONE. Metal one causes all the errors and is very heavy and not well cut.Theres a reason why BMW chose plastic, not Metal for their actuator in the transfer gearbox.USE PLASTIC

      DIS V57 can be had for free. You'll need to closely follow the install instructions as it runs in a Vware virtual environment on your laptop.

      Search for prices around the internet. You can get good deals any time. Just need to search. I found prices around 22 USD for FEBI oil (here in Europe). Price per 1L. Also you don't need to buy a new VTG if you brick yours. Just source another used one, do a full rebuild, install, fill with oil and be happy. Will cost you less than 1000 USD (IMO around 500-800 depending on buying prices).
