A local shop flushed my coolant system (I was brainless when I topped up the reservoir with the old blue coolant instead of the new green in G-series) while they were doing the oil pump. It’s likely dried-up coolant residue from them draining it, as I have no coolant loss - for now. It could also be dried-up salt that I live in Ontario, Canada, where they like to spread a crazy amount of salt to dissolve snow 🤷♂️
Bro thank you so much I have a 2020 m340i and I don't really see anyone doing videos for this car for the maintenance. I did my rear diff fluid change and I also serviced the plugs coil packs and the trans fluid as well. I never thought about servicing front diff now I will definitely do it. Thank You so much! Please keep making more videos as I have a 2020 M340i as well.
Thank you for your kind words! That's definitely one of the reasons and motivations for me to make videos on my M340ix, there just isn't much content out there that isn't like "wheel reveals", "new front lip and diffuser" for the M340. Absolutely no hate to fellows making those videos. But to me, owning a car 101 is to service it (or I guess mod it too? :P) ; and I wanna know how to service it (or mod things :P) myself. I argued on the internet that the higher the car's MSRP, the less likely the owners are going to work on the cars themselves. I'd assume that's one of the reasons why there isn't much content out there, say versus the E9x/F3x.
I’ve been watching your videos for a few days now I love the information you provided, just a quick question about the front diff, would it be ok if I was to mix the oem oil with new redline 75w85. BMW is expensive. Also I’m going to do the rear differential as well but I’m planning on changing the cover for the diff so I’m going to change that oil to redline as well, what is your opinion on that? On Not using oem?
I was mistaken for the drain process, I see you can completely drain the unit so the over all question is, is it ok to switch from oem to redline 75w85
Glad to hear that! For both front and rear differentials, I’m not totally against mixing residue OEM fluids with other aftermarket options - chances are some aftermarket options offer better performance and protections than OEM. However, I don’t think BMW has ever published the information about their recommended or approved viscosity and specs for these drivetrain fluids on the G-chassis, that’s why I’m not too confident about aftermarket options, in terms of which one is “good” to be used.
We actually do have a center lifting point. Check out my channel/my playlist about how to lift up a BMW G20. It goes over how to jack up the front end, rear end, and on all 4’s. Cheers!
Hello! please answer me one question. I purchased rear differential oil for a BMW M340i hypoid axle oil g4. This oil was previously green in color and had a viscosity of about 75W-80. Now the oil is yellow in color and its viscosity is somewhere around 75W-140. Can you tell me if this is how it should be? I can't find information anywhere... Could it be a fake…?
I find that the capacity of fluid of front and rear differential drains out less than the fluid put back in, is that normal that the fluid somehow got dry out from time to time? I just changed the rear differential on a lexus and the fluid capacity drain out less also
I’d say it’s possible - However, given yours is relatively low mileage, it’d be unlikely. Of course, other factors also come into play such as how you drive the car. I wouldn’t be too concerned if it drives fine after you’ve changed the fluids with no codes on dash though! At least now you have the peace of mind knowing they’re at its proper level, as long as you filled it up with the car leveled to the ground.

You have a coolant leak in the same spot I did, you can see the dried coolant when u removed the plastic shield

I am wondering how you got the front of the car up on jack stands since we don’t have a central jacking point?

Very useful, many thanks!
And many thanks to your support! Glad to hear it was helpful. Hope your front diff fluid change goes better than mine haha
No front diff for me, less maintenance score for me. Great video!
Appreciate you! Unfortunately xDrive is necessary for us Canadian in the north lol.
@TandEGarage I understand that, however for me in AL not needed at all!

Does the RWD model has front diff? Or is it only for x drive models? ❤❤
Front diff is for xDrive models only.
One less component for you to have to worry about!
@@TandeGarage and the transfer case too!
비디오 감사합니다. 👍👍👍 from korea. 😄
Thanks to you too for watching! Hope you’ve enjoyed it.
Its a royal pain if your fill plug is on thr left of the axle. Lol
Somewhat glad that mine is not that “scientific”, just the traditional “fill to the brim and you’ll be alright”. 😂
