I'm in the UK, I've got a BMW X5 2005 e53 4.8is 98k on the clock, I've converted it to run on LPG and it's so much better than petrol and it hasn't lost any power or performance, I've changed the ignition coiks, installed a new xtrons head unit, installed a new id4motion instrument cluster, new battery, serviced the automatic transmission fluid and filter, changed the engine oil, new real lights, serviced the front and rear diffs, 4 new 20inch tyres front and rear, new front steering components, and the rear too, so the back tyres sit on the road correctly, my X5 4.8iS V8 as an absolute beast! 29 yrs old and it's the best car I've ever owned.

IF YOU HAVE X5D you must either remove the cross member or place a jack under the transfer case to gain access to the rear pan bolts!!

Not true. Use a 1/4” box end wrench with a cut off T40 bit. Fits right between the crossmember and the bolt head.

I just did this job on my 35d -09. And unfortunately I did miss the lever when mounting the valve body the first time. So everything had to come down again. But after that everything else went fine. A difference I noticed is that you four rear bolts for the pan are not as hidden as mine were behind the trans subframe, mine are probably an inch further back. Those were a tricky little struggle. Mine is a EU/Swedish model, don't know if thats a clue for them being a little different. I can definately see some other differences in the surroundings aswell. If I'd watched this video before I did mine it probably would have been right the first time! Great video!

For everyone who wants to do the oil change themselves, there is a specific oil fill procedure it needs to be followed. This video shows the easy bits. It is not that simple....

Getting that fill plug back in by hand was a no go . Had to use the hex key to centre it for threading . Why didn't you loosen the fill before re-assembling ? On diffs , the square fill plug sometimes doesn't budge , and then you've had it !

When you mentioned $750-$1200 at an independent shop was that including parts and fluid or was that the labor cost alone?
Great channel by the way. Just subscribed. Thanks for the info.

greetings! i follow you on youtube for all the tutorials, thanks for everything bro. i have a problem with a 2010 bmw e70 x5 n52 6hp19 transmission, i would really appreciate it if you gave me your opinion. the jeep sat for a long time without being used, now we started using it and the transmission started to work weird until yesterday when i tried to put it in drive the gear lever would go forward a little and the lever would go over P by itself, when i try to put it in reverse i accelerate to 3,000 rpm and it moves a little slowly and the lever would go back to P by itself. i scanned it with my equipment and the dtc code it gives me is 4f97 ratio monitoring clutch B-D and in the vtg transferbox 54c6 oil wear. i was investigating and i see that this problem is said to be corrected with the mechatronics repair kit that includes some seals and the transmission oil pan. I would like to know if the problem is really solved with this or if I have to change the transmission completely because I don't have much money and I don't want to waste time and money on the kit and oil and have to change the transmission anyway. I would really appreciate your opinion, brother. Thanks!

This is very informative! I assume this would be the exact same for the 335D? Do you have part numbers for the seals and pan?

Woody, great video. However, I have no space, expertise or patience to do this. Are you telling us that If I call the local BMW dealership this will cost between $750-1000 to service. My 2017 X5 has given me no problems, slippage or any major issues except an inept tech at my local certified Service Center, NOT BMW, and they stripped my oil pan plug, two retools and then $4000 for a replacement at Hendrick BMW last year. It has just over 79,000 miles, currently, 9/3/23, and this transmission service has never been done, nor have any of the BMW dealers service center "Hawks" suggested it be done. I received it CPO with 21,000 miles. Any comments or your take on action needed?

Hi Woody , I have an issue with my *BMW F15 X5 35i Executive 2014* Automatic Transmission & Gearbox.
It's Jumping gears, struggling to stay on gear and after a few minutes we see a "drivetrain issue" warning on the dashboard. Have you come across this issue before. If yes , how can we fix this

How about when the transmission kicks really hard when attempting to take off? I’ve had the transmission supposedly rebuilt at amicco and they are saying it must be my trans cooler thermostat and that it’s overheating ? Is that a possibility ?

You can actually suck out oil rather than establish a temp . It's temp expansion is empirically calculated at 0.7% per 10 c . So , 15c low will be about 1% of 9 litres .

Any interest in replacing my dpf filter and O2 sensors on my 09 BMW X5 E70 35D? Really struggling to find someone local to do it and I just hit 150,000 miles and my 02 sensor went off over the weekend.

Does this help with transmission slipping and going into limp mode? I had it done in my bmw x5 and it seems to have improved the transmission quite a lot but not sure if my transmission will go into limp mode or not. Before my car would shake and feel a bit uneasy at 2000rpm and if I step on the gas transmission goes into limp mode
And I would have to restart the car and everything is fine.

Scan it for codes. It might be something as simple as a bad speed sensor.

2 questions - does it matter what kind of grease you use on the sealing sleeve, or do you just mean trans fluid? and ... is there a diagram or TIS showing the torque order on the valve body? thanks!

    • @npet6842
      @npet6842 ปีที่แล้ว

ZF Lifeguard 6 is the go for 6 speed ZFHP26 . About USD 22 plus tax per litre . You'll need 5 litres for a single flush . I repeated next day for dilution , so bought 10 litre to get about 6.5 new oil in there . Some people pull off pipework and pump through , but I leave disconnecting pipework well alone
