Negative. It wasn't the DCT. It was shear power-to-weight that won here. Simple as that. Full throttle upshifts in that 10spd auto are as fast as that Tremec 7spd DCT. Hell, GM's 8spd upshifts are as fast as the Porsche PDK. That DCT is much more responsive and better for the track tho. It's gear actuations are no faster tho.
About damn time American sports cars caught up with the rest of the world performance wise. We're almost at the end of fossil fuel powered performance car era.
Brian Cronin Each car has a different launch control setup if they were to switch around the drivers that could potentially cause minor inconsistencies in their launches. Better for them to get a feel for each car and perfect their launches.

How is it not? Dodge built their car to be the fastest in a straight line, which on a drag strip, it is. Multiple 707hp hellcats (not even the 797hp Redeyes like this one) have gone 10.60s and faster. They didn't build it to take corners.
That is a tough point to argue. The GT500 is an incredible all around performer whether people like it or not. The facts are what they are. In conclusion, the three are incredible cars in all aspects, although they are not exactly the same or the same segment, as the years go by the differences between these three cars and their predecessors are increasing, the Camaro and the Mustang are now american sports cars with a muscle / pony appearance but with similar handling in several respects to european sports cars, more the Camaro than the Mustang, the Mustang is a bit more aggressive and less stable in handling than the Camaro, the Mustang still in handling looks like an American sports car, the Camaro has become an extremely easy to drive car considering what it was before, what a real muscle/pony car is, and that it is a tall american sports car performance, also between these two cars there is a marked difference in comfort and practicality, the Mustang is notoriously larger than the Camaro, on the other hand, the Challenger is practically punctual and apart, is the car that has remained true to its roots, both in handling, sensations, size, performance and appearance, thanks to that, as the years go by, the Challenger becomes increasingly special, striking and desired, the Challenger remains the only true muscle car that can be obtained today.
And what are people saying at the end of the day? That the Mustang rules the roost. The challenger is eating Camaros lunch and taking its lunch money. The Camaros being discontinued with discounts. The almighty dollar doesn't lie. And why aren't people buying it if the Camaro is just that good? 🤔

It's very useful in a drag race. Camaro 650hp / 3892lbs = 5.98lbs x 1hp
Challenger 797hp / 4527lbs 5.68lbs x 1hp
Mustang 760hp / 4058lbs 5.33lbs x 1hp
According to the numbers on paper, in the weight - power ratio, the Camaro is in third place, the Challenger in second place and the Mustang in the first place, the difference in the weight - power ratio between each car is only 0.30lb per horse.
* 1/4 mile run from 0:
Mustang 1st place
Camaro 2nd place
Challenger 3rd place
There are two cars of difference between the Mustang and the Camaro and only one car of difference between the Camaro and the Challenger, but, why does the Camaro beat the Challenger if the Challenger has a better weight - power ratio ?, simple, mainly because the Camaro, like the Mustang, has a greater technological load than the Challenger, which helps it to be more stable and have a better grip on the floor when it takes off, if the Challenger had that, it would surely also be in second place, as its power weight - power ratio, for that reason I would have liked to see a roll race in this video too, in a roll race, the stability and grip on the floor does not matter as much as in a race from 0, in that case the things between the Challenger and the Camaro would surely have been different, the Challenger would have been in second place and the Camaro in third place, and in general there would only have been a difference of a car between each place.

@@maloyyypm lol yeah hell get a tesla. Quick af
The new GT500 WAY out shines everything else in every measurable way ! ESPECIALLY Aesthetics ! Nice job Ford Performance !
Is it just me but I can’t believe the Camaro is beating the challenger Red Eye👀👀
Tony OsO The Camaro is way lighter than the challenger.
Yu Qi Wang yes I know but I figured the 150hp advantage would outweigh the what is it 600lb difference!?!?
Tony OsO I believe the 10AT on the Camaro also give some advantage even the 1LE aero r not made for straight line performance any how. The 10AT is specific tuned on the ZL1 and it is almost DCT level fast. Also I think the ZL1 is better at putting power down to the ground than the challenger when launch. Camaro has fatter rear tires too
Also is the zl1 supercharged??
I find this to be strange in a roll race because I walk down zl1’s in my Hellcat all time where the D/A is good.
Mustang shelby gt500 finally back and stronger than ever haha
Lmao let’s be honest here. If it didn’t win it would probably be an embarrassment to all of Ford every mustang out there especially since they took the longest to make the car and it has advantages unlike any other car there.
Omar Y It won and that’s what matters 👀 lol
@@azimy9388 Even tho the Dodge has the advantage of more horsepower and torque, while the Camaro has the advantage of weight and overall balance, the Mustangs advantage is the DCT and being in the middle ground overall, which makes it the best all round car as it always has been, get the base model 74k Mustang, it will still beat both of these cars on the drag strip and on the track anyway, the 94k CFTP is just a bonus to beat the Camaro and potentially fuck with Corvettes.
Raion Shishi bro if she knew how to drive the hellcat would’ve killed the Mustang and I’m not even going to bring up the Demon.
The red eye is a wide body demon bro & it's faster
Interesting that Hellcat and ZL1 seem really close...
That weight is killing the hellcat man. I know dodge believes that if that car was roughly the same weight as these mustangs and camaros...there’d really be no competition. And if it’s lighter, it probably could take corners MUCH better. Hellcats and 392’s would be looking at corvettes for a challenge instead lol
@@zae_bo Yep. Power to weight rules drag racing. Those A10 GT Mustangs with blowers are killing it...
Cuz a girl drove it
@@zae_bo And if the Corvette had 800HP the Hellcats would still be sitting in last place.
@@zae_bo stop it. dodge dudes be delusional
Who here already knew that the lady was going to come in dead last😏
Besides being sexist, your comment is also a bit ignorant. These cars have autos with launch control. No driver skill needed.
The regular ZL1 is more suitable as a drag car instead of the 1LE, I think.
lol
The 500 had the track package aswell. Completely fair. And the dodge still came last
Evan Nagy as a dodge fanboy my excuse is that the gt500 is a shelby. and having shelby in the name basically gives you +40 horsepower and like 100lbs of rear downforce.
no but honestly the gt500 is just a monster, most people respect the hellcats as being powerful as hell which just shows how crazy these new gt500s and 350s are
Naa its no difference to normal ZL1, the 1LE have more downforce, 100-150 plus in torque and - height
Luis Lovell the zl1 runs the quarter mile in 11.3 and the zl1 1le runs it in 11.6. The zl1 is also .2 seconds faster to 60 but the zl1 1le is built for the track which is why it is slower in the quarter mile.
