      @@KDMCurt Thanks for the offer. I do have a question. I seem to have only one OEM horn on my 2000 Impreza rs. So what would you do? Split the positive and negative to make a total of 4 wires? Is it recommended?
      Also, I was told that cars have relays and everything we need from OEM so we don't need the wiring harness kit with relay. What do you think about that?
      Thanks in advance.

      @@enriquecabanelatte2495 if you have one horn then I would only replace one horn, splicing the one cable to two horns may cause some power issues. Some cars do have wiring harnesses already available for these types of installs. I’m not too familiar with that car though.

    Can I use t-tap connectors for the splicing of the wires that connect to the steering wheel horn button?

    Cool, this is exactly the video I was looking for. I’ve got a 2016 optima. I’m connecting train horns in addition, not instead of the original horns. I plan on getting power to the new horns from a fuse tap at the horn fuse. I’ll be using a relay after the fuse tap. Do you see any problems with this plan?

    I had some issues with mine as you said when just power an ground the wire the horns will go off with out a trigger wire. Funny thing is I don’t know where to put my trigger wire at are where to run it to. So I need some pointers.

    Great video, im going to make my own wiring, im not sure if i missed it but what size fuse did you use, thanks

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This wiring harness with the relay actually already had a fuse wired in to it which is why I went with a pre-built wiring harness. It’s kind of hard to see but at about 1:00 in the vid you can see the smaller black box in the bundle of cables, that’s where the fuse is.

    So what happens if your original horn only had a positive connection and was grounded to the body how would you wire the negative on the trigger harness

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to run that negative from the harness to area where your battery is grounded or the negative terminal on the battery

    Are the stock horns of your car connected to a relay before you disconnected it? I’m about to install mine and i’m still confused about the relay harness. My stock horns doesn’t have a relay harness or a ground connected to it. Just a single wire connected to the back of the horn. I’m thinking of buying the harness but some people say that the only difference without having the relay harness is the sound quality, which will definitely be weaker compared to the one with a relay. I’m just worried about the trigger thing you mentioned that would set the horn off

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, my horns didn’t have a relay before I added that one in the video. I’d say go ahead and buy it not only does it improve their sound quality it helps to make sure they don’t short circuit. Think of the trigger wire as basically just the power wire.

    I installed this exact setup and it doesn't work.
    Question, do you NEED to hook up the ground to the battery or can you frame mount it? I frame mounted it, no beep so far just a click.
    My battery terminal bolts would need to be longer to fit the negative wire on

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it has to be hooked up to the ground at the battery, just somewhere in the car that is grounded. Make sure you have the connectors fully slid on to the posts. Also, if you spliced wiring like I did make sure you are getting a good connection where those splices are at. You may want to re-tighten them with a crimping tool the be sure.

      Just came here to say I got the horns working and man they sound great! I had to bypass the stock horn wire and mount a button on the dash for it to work, but I'm happy with it.
