This is the first "ship build" that actually showed the whole process. Most of the video's I have seen are just an exploded ship and they put it back together. The fact that you started from square one and how to get to each different shipyard is very helpful!
@@FLOYD-MAYWEATHER-TBE you can absolutely follow this build regardless of starter ship. Plenty of others have already done so. The only parts left from the Razorleaf are the Taiyo landing bay and the Ballast shielded cargo. The landing bay can be found on Neon (as well as other landing pads where the ship tech has Taiyo parts) and the Shielded Cargo can be found at the Red Mile or Kryx.
This ship it's a BEAST, and I cannot express how much I appreciate the fact that you did a Step by Step guide🙏🏻 unlike everyone else that has their ship dismantled and attach all pieces together and call that a guide or tutorial. We need more creators to do these kind of tutorials
@@RichardRennie-hb7tb no, a parts list would not show viewers how to assemble all of the parts. I see value in listing the core components, reactor, shield, grav drive, and weapons, but otherwise it would be a huge list of habs and structural parts. Viewers would still have to watch the instructional portion of the video to learn how to put it all together, rendering the time required to make a list wasteful. Doing a full inventory on a ship of this size would also take even more time to compile. Editing these videos as they are takes enough time as is. I’m not a full-time youtuber and it’s just me. If this channel grows then the future may hold the possibility of including more feature-rich content. I appreciate your feedback, thanks for watching!
Great guide. For anyone wondering, it looks like this costs over 700000 to build from what I can tell. That might be something to be prepared for before getting too deep into this. I will definitely be building this mostly because of how comprehensive, clear and considerate this old wizard is to provide this wonderful guide.

I've got 1mil and I'm level 28. But haven't levelled up anything on the ship page. So can only get class A. I've just been running around outposts, stealing loot and selling it. Haven't even started the game or any missions 😂
i mean, realistically, that's the typical minimum for any decent class-C ship. fortunately, there's plenty of crimson fleet and spacer ships that want to "volunteer" to help you afford it xD

How do I get my mobility to be better? I don't get it. I have half this mass and half the mobility with C class engines. I am low level though, just level 22.

I built this ship this morning. Very easy to build and very clear instructions. I've been using it for the past couple hours and I still can't believe it. It cuts through everything like a knife through butter. For context, I am on NG+13 or so and I am on very hard. I just now realized the struggle bus I was on while using my captured Ecliptic class C ship which I thought was pretty good. God bless you sir. You've done away with about 70% of my frustration with this game. This whole build was worth my time, creds and effort.
Thank you for this. I start the game off by stealing ships and then rebuild around that. I've followed a lot of guides and yours is one of the best. Only lvl 14, so I had to build around a Crimson Fleet Wight I stole. It only has 4 engines so I had to add a temp solution.
One of the best?? Thank you a bunch! I wanted to be thorough but was worried I went to far with it. Once you get to level 60 and have the skills for the rank 4 parts, and complete at least the first UC mission, you can duplicate this one verbatim. This ship is gorgeous! I had to make one for myself, with a few small changes for my own play style. I got rid of the ballistics and threw on 4 em suppressors because I like to jack ships and sell them for the $$$ but two banks of particle cannons still absolutely shreds enemies. Cannot thank you enough for the great walkthrough with part locations and everything. Please, keep on making awesome videos for poor shmucks like me with no imagination of my own lol
I've watched various ship build videos a few times and I've decided to build this one out, with just a few minor differences. Im level 84 with 240 hours in game and I live in NG+3 as my permanent residence for the foreseeable future. Just gathered up about 800k for the build and Im planning to work on it tonight. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
Completed the build a couple days ago! My weapon choice is a bit different, I added a couple tiny details on top to make it a little less flat, and I used all Deimos habs but those were really the only changes. I actually kept the razorleaf name and color scheme as homage to its platform. I'm running crimson fleet line with it now so it'll end up with the comspike and such in a couple days

Wow, what a greatly thought out ship. I have a beast of a ship like this however it's totally a slug and has a mobility of like 25. So tomorrow I will be building an exact copy of your ship. And FYI, I hardly ever comment of builds but I'm so impressed with yours as it has absolutely everything I want / need in a ship I had to give you the props you deserve ❤️. Some people don't mind having really low mobility, but I find it to be a massive hindrance in combat. Since I built the Basilisk I have been seeking out space combat and I wish there was more of it. With this build you can have it all pretty much. Cargo can go up to 6.5k (before Payloads skill bonus), mass can increase to 4275 and still retain 100 mobility. Personally, I like to get the equipped cargo to 4k, which gives me 6k capacity after Payloads bonus. That also brings the ship's mass down to around 3620, and at that mass the ship feels like it's in the A-Class. Perfect balance and absolutely purpose-built for my needs. It has a lot of flexibility, which means many players can make great use of it. Thanks for your comment!

Basilisk to Va'ruun Zealots: "I AM the Great Serpent." This was like a Bob Ross of ship building video. Very well done, and very well thought out and executed ship build. Great stuff! Will definitely try this build in another NG+, might try with some HopeTech habs as I personally like the interior aesthetic of those. And hopefully in the future we get mods where we can actually use the jail cells in the brig like capturing bounties instead of just killing them.
I was pretty disappointed to learn that the brig has effectively no use. Except for Amelia locking herself in one hahaha. That’s a HUGE compliment if you ask me, so big thank you! I don’t want to turn into the ‘cram an hour’s worth of build and info into 10 minutes’ type of creator. Mainly just doing this for fun and to hopefully help and inspire other players.
I use the beds in my brig on the Star Eagle. I'm only level 22 on my first play through. Trying to quit spending all my cash on ammo! I liked the aspect of using the Razorleaf as the core ship because of the associated ability to scare off potential bad guys! I wouldn't have known that and would have just collected it. I'm gonna mod it once I have some more perks and cash!
really helpful process there. because all others show us just take part there ships and move them back in somewhere no idea where they bring all the pieces from, but you just show the whole operation. thank you.

(Spoilers)I have a mainly deimos ship designed supporting Cargo 2500 and 9 crew nicely with less habs but it only hits 150 top speed with 170 with andromeda as a crew member. Watching your video to figure out how you got your ship to 179 bruh🎉🎉🎉 thanks very much for your effort. Please keep up the good work.
@@itslordjoshua the ship actually hits 202 with Andromeda or Sam. Engine Systems is the skill you need at rank 4 to hit that speed with Class C engines.
I keep coming back to this :) You explain and demonstrate the build in slow and thoughtful pace. I soon played fore 1 month and still love this game. I am lvl 50 and only build a smaller ship. Not going to build the big one fore a while still. Im exited fore the updates that comes later. I understand why people got upset, but i cant imagine how game developers sleep at night. Making games today is must be a nightmare. NMS had a rough start, but amazing the overhaul they did. Bethesda have the money to do it too.

This is the most beautiful ship I`ve seen so far for my tastes. Its silhouette its perfect... visually, as aerodynamically perfect, as a F1 Car :). And it gives you plenty of room to customize the interior hab modules to your liking. I managed to get it working without needing a single Ladder with some minor changes, whilst conserving the external design 100% as it is in this guide. Compliments to the Author of this guide, and thank you!

I was sent this way by Sista Citizen after watching one of her vids. And MAN am I glad she did. This thing is a murdermachine. I didn't follow the build exactly (hab changes in a couple places), but I'm glad I built this monster. A couple clicks and it's over on those occasions I meet the morally bankrupt. Add in the sudden screams of, "Mantis! MANTIS!!!" Makes it quite worthwhile.
Better to be the murder machine than to be its fuel! Those encounters are the best part. Sometimes they will beg for their lives as they spool up their grav drives, and I’ve found one where a lone Spacer hails you instead of just turning hostile right away, when you answer, he completes his scan, and right away starts pleading for his life and looking for a way out of the conversation that doesn’t end in his demise. Great little detail by Bethesda. Thanks for watching! Pretty soon I’ll have a whole fleet for everyone to build.
Dude - seriously, the best build video I've seen on starfield ships. You covered absolutely everything I would want in a build with the Nova bridge... Your layout is fantastic! Just blown away by what you did! Makes my makes my battle star look unfinished which I worked pretty hard on! 😂 Great job!
Have just followed this step for step, the only thing I added were 4 class A suppressors as a 3rd weapon that went on the side wings, plus I made the engines and the radiators at the back a very dark red and had some dark grey undertones throughout the rest of the ship. An outstanding video, and the step by step instruction on which vendor to go to really helped and made it that much more unique than any other ship building video I’ve ever seen. Thank you. Just so you’re aware, my third weapon group choice was the Exterminator auto particle beams. If you only use those on a boarding target’s engines, they work just fine for disabling the ship. There’s footage of that in the optimization video. You’re missing out on damage!

Just tried this out and I love the layout. I went with all Nova habs because I really the cozy old school space look. The layout makes sense and I can get the habs I mostly want. I want a big ship and I always liked the big habs because they're more spacious. Good tip for the weapons because I would just assumed each class would be better than the previous (C > B > A) but I never really paid attention to stats. Also I just am terribly at making my ship look cool so I never bothered with the structural elements. I still have to colour the ship but I'll figure something out. Oh this sounds killer, I’d be super interested to see an all-Nova interior, I like the Nova 2x2 living quarters a LOT but it just looked out of place with all the Stroud and Deimos modules. I opted to stick to those two for the sake of having a cohesive interior design. Glad to have inspired you, and if you want to show it I would love to see the changes you’ve made, cheers!
Did you have any issues with missing doorways? I tried the same today using Nova habs and it didnt put in a doorway at the back of the 2x2 battle station, where it should connect to the mid companionway, you had to go up to top and through the bridge to get to it. No idea why it’s doing this?
@@jonhodges6572 no issues when I did it. I had a door from the companion way. Immediate right I had access to the computer room. Straight ahead I could go into the cockpit.
@@jonhodges6572 another commenter mentioned this issue. Try going into the builder and placing the bridge one unit up, such that the lower hatch is attached the the cap’s quarters. Accept the change and exit builder. Save, then load that save, enter ship builder again and move the bridge back into position.
OMG, this ship is so dope. I made everything black, but the 6 wing sections and the center line of the top and bottom (cockpit, loading bay, Deimos companionway and engineering bay, the weapon mount, armory and aft top cap) I made all of that crimson (selectively crimson and black on the habs). It gives it this jagged, crimson-edged trident kind of look, in top-view. It's so nice. I love this ship... Thanks.
This ship is so good, I went through this TH-cam a second time for a new toon. Even on Very Hard level, this ship takes care of the Crimson Fleet easily. Thank you for taking the time to share a spectacular ship. I learned a tremendous amount watching you put together this fun ship.
I haven’t watched the entire video yet because it’s almost 4:30 am and I need to sleep. That said I can’t wait to attempt to copy your build. Love the look of the engines in the back how they are on different levels. Not sure what color I’ll go with yet. Looking forward to following your very detailed guide on where you got each part. Important note: You don't need to fly the ship between locations while it's under construction. Use another home ship, like the Frontier or Star Eagle, and you can keep modifying this ship in your ship list until it's done. Makes life easier until it's totally built...
I like approaching it like a LEGO build. They don’t send you the kit built and show you how to take it apart in order to build it again. That shit makes no sense.
I very much like how you managed to create a ship this big with just the one central ladder. I've been wanting to do a build with that cockpit too - and this design has given me a lot of good concepts to add into mine. Doing it as a teardown from the Razorleaf, so that you get to put fear in Pirates is a great idea that I'll also use. Make it a focused ship-to-ship fighter rather than something that is designed around boarding/stealing another ship (like my current main). Plus those particle beams just tear through things.
Thank you very much, it took some work. And honestly I messed up by not realizing I had better engines available to use. I had to load an old save to go back before I built it, and when I came back realized that I had to make another video. This ship can not only be a great fighter, but also have pretty impressive cargo capacity. And, if you only target a ships engines, and only fire one burst at a time from the Exterminators, you can still board easily if you wish.
Finished this build the other day. Minor changes. Used 3 shielded cargo where the rear under side body panel would be. Used the largest engines as they offered more power w less mass. A different shield. And I upped the vanguard guns from 4 to 5. Power runs 46/46 and it slays everything so far incl the level 45 legendary m class va’ruun ship with only 2 strafing runs. Thoroughly impressed! Opted for black w Slytherin green accents. Sexy af.
Hell yeah man! Thanks for watching, and for providing some feedback. I do actually use all 6 Vanguard Obliterators, obvious choice with that much reactor power. When I made this video I didn’t realize there were better engines than the 6330, so I made a follow-up optimization video showcasing those engines, how much weight can be added before losing mobility, as well as a lightened version that still retains 4000 cargo, sort of as a balanced version. It’s how I like to fly it. If you do a lot of smuggling, that third shielded cargo is a good idea. If you want to add more, you can squeeze a couple on the exposed part of the fuel tank, if you’re running the Assurance 1800 shield. It’s got a lot of flexibility. When I build the Basilisk on my new playthrough, I’m going to minimize weight a lot since I now have the Citadel in my fleet, and it has 7000 cargo.
@@WizeOldWizard I have my payload skill maxed and with that and the tweaks I have, I have 920 shielded cargo.. and I 7275 in normal cargo. Needless to say, shy of the silent runner - I don’t have a higher cargo build. Don’t quote me on it but I think the silent runner is sitting around 14k on cargo. Its maneuberability is in the toilet but the class c auto turrets do the job. This basilisk build is just.. nuts. 5 vanguard guns and 4 of the 175’s.. I don’t have it fully crewed yet bc I don’t have that skill unlocked to add more… but for now.. she still chews through anything that moves wo me having to switch ships for outpost building. Presently my shields sit at 3k w Barrett, the guy from Akila city, and I think Sarah onboard. Once I can get the skill for adding crew open, I can try to re-add the robot. So far due to story progression, he’s camped out at the lodge and won’t re-board. But I think due to a glitch, my new Atlantis has a lot of stuff that’s broken so I can’t say I’m surprised. I was using the star eagle as it’s actually not bad once you drag it up to class b. But this.. this is a whole different beast. It might not have the raw acceleration of the star eagle w class b.. but.. she will absolutely take a beating and keep coming for more! I think my only wish - is a Bethesda wish. Reactors w more power.. and shields over 1500 that have a decent recharge rate on them.
Under the wings you can use the taiyo landing gears instead of the Stroud ones, and they will match the curve of the breaking engines. Otherwise a really nice build.
I forgot about this reply. I just went in and checked the landing gear and made the change. Yeah, it's more blending with the bottom wing portion, which is the Taiyo breaking engine. Thanks again.
For rp reasons I thought it'd make sense to have the infiirmary and or armory near the landing bay or the docking port. I'm imagining infirmary for wounded brought in, or for quarantine. And armory for gearing up before boarding action or defending boarding action. Also I like the idea of a brig kept kind of seperate or near the nose so an expendable area suffers frontal fire first. Also I wish you could take bounties alive or that any of these rp considerations mattered, like hiring a doctor to the crew means you need an infirmary, and it awards some bonus. Or hiring a merchant requires a cargo bay and awards an automated trading system from a specified ship inventory. Or how about hiring a bounty hunter or guard to your crew that requires having a brig and they allow you to transport prisoners. So many missed opportunities.
Agreed, I was thinking about the extra bonus for a specific crew member in a specific hab, would be a sensible mechanic. I also agree with your thoughts on RP hab placement. At least for this build, all there was room for down low was the engineering bay. The rest was a fair amount of take what I could get.
Nice build. I am a great fan of the Star Eagle and this has a similar aesthetic. Going to safe this one for later to see if I can recreate it. There are a few parts I think that could be improved slightly but overall a VERY nice design.
You have a good eye. I was originally going to build this around the Eagle until I learned about the unique Mantis encounters. I took a fair bit of inspiration from the Star Eagle with the intent of taking it up a notch. I’m going to post an update/follow up for the Basilisk that will detail some tweaks and improvements that I’ve made to arrive at a superior, and final, iteration of my build. Awesome video, will definitely look at redesigning my current Razorleaf. I use predominately turrets as I dont want to press 3 buttons to use my full payload but I might look at binding all three weapon types to the same button, dont know if that is possible. Man thank you for the feedback and the sub! I also don’t know if your three weapon groups can be bound together, but just so you’re aware, you can still disable and board ships if you just fire one burst at a time with the Exterminators. And ONLY when targeting the engines. So if you fire all three you may be throwing that option away. If you’re not worried about that then it sure would make firing your weapons easier! I fully intend on making more content, especially considering the unexpected amount of likes and subs I’ve gotten from this. Your support is very appreciated!
Great ship! looks very militaristic and highly logical, I really dig that combination. I think the only setup I would change is the engine layout, never liked the 3 engine side by side look. I've always liked the detached engine look, where the engine housing is external to the ship like the main Battlestar Galatica ship.
Thank you for the great guide! I used this as my intro to shipbuilding at around level 30. The ship i built is nearly a mirror of yours. While i couldnt get some of the major components this ship is still far better than anything else i could get my hands on. It took just over 700k with some wasted credits due to direction changes.

Funnily enough that's usually where I find him, and assumed that little "cubicle" was his sales corner. There were a few times he was apparently sitting at his main desk that I thought he'd glitched or not spawned so I re-entered the yard.
1: I wanted to build an 80m ship that wasn't a brick. 2: The cabot bridge is incredible and already has two floors. 3: Why not? The Basilisk is still an agile predator capable of immense destruction. And comfort!
Havershaw is really stealing the show, several others have pointed this out and now I’ll never forget. Actually it’s funny, since I posted this he hasn’t been behind that plant a single time. I want to get a clip of it for the next video.
I am terrible at flying the ship, but I made a happy discovery. Stick the weapons spine on the front of the ship and add 4 auto turrets. They are able to reach out and touch hostiles in a big arc.

Nice Ship. I love the Cabot bridge but i hate that none of the cowling or structural components neatly join to it sides. It seems like no matter what you do there is some odd component sticking out just after the cockpit.
Totally agree, and also the reason my upper deck is only one hab unit wide with stroud cowlings on either side. It’s the most streamlined solution I could find.
This gave me some great ideas and it took my rebuild of the Kepler R from a mobility of 50 to 100. But still yours is 100% better looking than what I've ended up with. I'm very much thinking of copying this with my Razorleaf. Nicely done and thank you!
The Scythe makes the most sense for the Razorleaf, give that one a watch. This was my very first ship build, not just in terms of posting to youtube, but literally my first build. Very nice ship. There are a couple places where I think you might be able to optimize her a little bit more but I'm not sure if you'd really gain much without completely changing the appearance of the ship. I'm assuming that you've already made sure you aren't losing any workstations to doors and the like? Also, I prefer to stick my Armory right off the loading ramp, kinda like how the SR1 and SR2 (post refit) have their squad gear bays right in the landing area. The logic is that you're kinda screwed anyways if you're being boarded, so might as well make it easy for the ground team to gear up.
I put my armory above the bridge and the captain’s berth behind that, otherwise all the crew is hanging in my bed! I put a crew 3-in-1 behind the bridge which auto-created a ladder down to the crew habs. That actually worked better for me because I will never go there. Now I have a straight ladder up from the exterior to the bridge and the armory/sleep bed, and if I need to craft, those habs are on either side of the crew 3-in-1.

As someone who isn't very creative, this design just blows me away. Will defo be copying this for my next playthrough, however I'll have to change from autoturrets as they just stop working for some reason. Thank you for the awesome walkthrough build man.
Don’t confuse auto and turret. This ship has no turrets. Auto refers to high fire rate, but you still have to aim and fire. The Basilisk has such high mobility, it has no use for turrets.
Honestly this is almost exactly what I've been looking for. Been struggling to figure out how to get the curve of the ship's wings, but you nailed it. It was either that or go with a destiny looking ship I used to use that looked like a raptor with 4 engines in a square block of 9 and 2 on each wings.
I never built a ship before and I followed yours to the letter so that I can build some muscle memory and prepare for my next build. This is by far the best, well thought out and complete ship building tutorial that I’ve found anywhere. Great job…keep posting content and you’ll grow easily…the way you discuss and explain things makes your content very engaging. I did a white and black color setup and it turned out really cool. Awesome man, thanks for the feedback and I’m very happy I was able to help you start getting comfortable with the ship builder! More content is for sure on the way, I started a new playthrough so that I wouldn’t be leaving out newer players. I rebuilt the Frontier entirely at level 14 and have now re-acquired and re-designed the Star Eagle, so that one is coming very soon. Just need to cut the footage and record the voiceover. I can confidently say that it’s the baddest-ass Star Eagle that I’ve seen, especially considering how early in the game it can be built. Cheers!

This is the first "ship build" that actually showed the whole process. Most of the video's I have seen are just an exploded ship and they put it back together. The fact that you started from square one and how to get to each different shipyard is very helpful!

The only parts left from the Razorleaf are the Taiyo landing bay and the Ballast shielded cargo. The landing bay can be found on Neon (as well as other landing pads where the ship tech has Taiyo parts) and the Shielded Cargo can be found at the Red Mile or Kryx.

@@RichardRennie-hb7tb no, a parts list would not show viewers how to assemble all of the parts. I see value in listing the core components, reactor, shield, grav drive, and weapons, but otherwise it would be a huge list of habs and structural parts. Viewers would still have to watch the instructional portion of the video to learn how to put it all together, rendering the time required to make a list wasteful.
Doing a full inventory on a ship of this size would also take even more time to compile. Editing these videos as they are takes enough time as is. I’m not a full-time youtuber and it’s just me. If this channel grows then the future may hold the possibility of including more feature-rich content.

Great guide. For anyone wondering, it looks like this costs over 700000 to build from what I can tell. That might be something to be prepared for before getting too deep into this. I will definitely be building this mostly because of how comprehensive, clear and considerate this old wizard is to provide this wonderful guide.
You’re spot-on. Depending on your exact configuration and choice of things like weapons, it will cost between 700k and 800k. Your Commerce skill level affects this too.

I've got 1mil and I'm level 28. But haven't levelled up anything on the ship page. So can only get class A. I've just been running around outposts, stealing loot and selling it. Haven't even started the game or any missions 😂
i mean, realistically, that's the typical minimum for any decent class-C ship. fortunately, there's plenty of crimson fleet and spacer ships that want to "volunteer" to help you afford it xD
The fact that the ship's mobility is really good, despite its mass, shows that this is really good work!

I built this ship this morning. Very easy to build and very clear instructions. I've been using it for the past couple hours and I still can't believe it. It cuts through everything like a knife through butter. For context, I am on NG+13 or so and I am on very hard. I just now realized the struggle bus I was on while using my captured Ecliptic class C ship which I thought was pretty good. God bless you sir. You've done away with about 70% of my frustration with this game. This whole build was worth my time, creds and effort.

Thank you for this. I start the game off by stealing ships and then rebuild around that. I've followed a lot of guides and yours is one of the best. Only lvl 14, so I had to build around a Crimson Fleet Wight I stole. It only has 4 engines so I had to add a temp solution.

Once you get to level 60 and have the skills for the rank 4 parts, and complete at least the first UC mission, you can duplicate this one verbatim. This ship is gorgeous! I had to make one for myself, with a few small changes for my own play style. I got rid of the ballistics and threw on 4 em suppressors because I like to jack ships and sell them for the $$$ but two banks of particle cannons still absolutely shreds enemies. Cannot thank you enough for the great walkthrough with part locations and everything. Please, keep on making awesome videos for poor shmucks like me with no imagination of my own lol
I've watched various ship build videos a few times and I've decided to build this one out, with just a few minor differences. Im level 84 with 240 hours in game and I live in NG+3 as my permanent residence for the foreseeable future. Just gathered up about 800k for the build and Im planning to work on it tonight. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
Completed the build a couple days ago! My weapon choice is a bit different, I added a couple tiny details on top to make it a little less flat, and I used all Deimos habs but those were really the only changes. I actually kept the razorleaf name and color scheme as homage to its platform. I'm running crimson fleet line with it now so it'll end up with the comspike and such in a couple days

Some people don't mind having really low mobility, but I find it to be a massive hindrance in combat. Since I built the Basilisk I have been seeking out space combat and I wish there was more of it. With this build you can have it all pretty much. Cargo can go up to 6.5k (before Payloads skill bonus), mass can increase to 4275 and still retain 100 mobility. Personally, I like to get the equipped cargo to 4k, which gives me 6k capacity after Payloads bonus. That also brings the ship's mass down to around 3620, and at that mass the ship feels like it's in the A-Class. Perfect balance and absolutely purpose-built for my needs. It has a lot of flexibility, which means many players can make great use of it.

This was like a Bob Ross of ship building video. Very well done, and very well thought out and executed ship build. Great stuff! Will definitely try this build in another NG+, might try with some HopeTech habs as I personally like the interior aesthetic of those. And hopefully in the future we get mods where we can actually use the jail cells in the brig like capturing bounties instead of just killing them.
I was pretty disappointed to learn that the brig has effectively no use. Except for Amelia locking herself in one hahaha.
That’s a HUGE compliment if you ask me, so big thank you! I don’t want to turn into the ‘cram an hour’s worth of build and info into 10 minutes’ type of creator. Mainly just doing this for fun and to hopefully help and inspire other players.
I use the beds in my brig on the Star Eagle. I'm only level 22 on my first play through. Trying to quit spending all my cash on ammo! I liked the aspect of using the Razorleaf as the core ship because of the associated ability to scare off potential bad guys! I wouldn't have known that and would have just collected it. I'm gonna mod it once I have some more perks and cash!

How much did the ship parts cost?
@@itslordjoshua the ship actually hits 202 with Andromeda or Sam. Engine Systems is the skill you need at rank 4 to hit that speed with Class C engines.

I keep coming back to this :) You explain and demonstrate the build in slow and thoughtful pace. I soon played fore 1 month and still love this game. I am lvl 50 and only build a smaller ship. Not going to build the big one fore a while still. Im exited fore the updates that comes later. I understand why people got upset, but i cant imagine how game developers sleep at night. Making games today is must be a nightmare. NMS had a rough start, but amazing the overhaul they did. Bethesda have the money to do it too.
Yes they do, well Microsoft does, and I too am hopeful for additional content.

This is the most beautiful ship I`ve seen so far for my tastes. Its silhouette its perfect... visually, as aerodynamically perfect, as a F1 Car :). And it gives you plenty of room to customize the interior hab modules to your liking. I managed to get it working without needing a single Ladder with some minor changes, whilst conserving the external design 100% as it is in this guide. Compliments to the Author of this guide, and thank you!

I was sent this way by Sista Citizen after watching one of her vids. And MAN am I glad she did. This thing is a murdermachine. I didn't follow the build exactly (hab changes in a couple places), but I'm glad I built this monster. A couple clicks and it's over on those occasions I meet the morally bankrupt. Add in the sudden screams of, "Mantis! MANTIS!!!"
Makes it quite worthwhile.

Those encounters are the best part. Sometimes they will beg for their lives as they spool up their grav drives, and I’ve found one where a lone Spacer hails you instead of just turning hostile right away, when you answer, he completes his scan, and right away starts pleading for his life and looking for a way out of the conversation that doesn’t end in his demise. Great little detail by Bethesda.

Have just followed this step for step, the only thing I added were 4 class A suppressors as a 3rd weapon that went on the side wings, plus I made the engines and the radiators at the back a very dark red and had some dark grey undertones throughout the rest of the ship.
An outstanding video, and the step by step instruction on which vendor to go to really helped and made it that much more unique than any other ship building video I’ve ever seen.

Just so you’re aware, my third weapon group choice was the Exterminator auto particle beams. If you only use those on a boarding target’s engines, they work just fine for disabling the ship. There’s footage of that in the optimization video. You’re missing out on damage!

Just tried this out and I love the layout. I went with all Nova habs because I really the cozy old school space look. The layout makes sense and I can get the habs I mostly want. I want a big ship and I always liked the big habs because they're more spacious. Good tip for the weapons because I would just assumed each class would be better than the previous (C > B > A) but I never really paid attention to stats. Also I just am terribly at making my ship look cool so I never bothered with the structural elements. I still have to colour the ship but I'll figure something out. Thanks for the video! awesome stuff!
Oh this sounds killer, I’d be super interested to see an all-Nova interior, I like the Nova 2x2 living quarters a LOT but it just looked out of place with all the Stroud and Deimos modules. I opted to stick to those two for the sake of having a cohesive interior design.

Did you have any issues with missing doorways? I tried the same today using Nova habs and it didnt put in a doorway at the back of the 2x2 battle station, where it should connect to the mid companionway, you had to go up to top and through the bridge to get to it. No idea why it’s doing this?
@@jonhodges6572 no issues when I did it. I had a door from the companion way. Immediate right I had access to the computer room. Straight ahead I could go into the cockpit.
@@jonhodges6572 another commenter mentioned this issue. Try going into the builder and placing the bridge one unit up, such that the lower hatch is attached the the cap’s quarters. Accept the change and exit builder. Save, then load that save, enter ship builder again and move the bridge back into position.
OMG, this ship is so dope. I made everything black, but the 6 wing sections and the center line of the top and bottom (cockpit, loading bay, Deimos companionway and engineering bay, the weapon mount, armory and aft top cap) I made all of that crimson (selectively crimson and black on the habs).
It gives it this jagged, crimson-edged trident kind of look, in top-view. It's so nice. I love this ship... Thanks.

Important note: You don't need to fly the ship between locations while it's under construction. Use another home ship, like the Frontier or Star Eagle, and you can keep modifying this ship in your ship list until it's done. Makes life easier until it's totally built...

I like approaching it like a LEGO build. They don’t send you the kit built and show you how to take it apart in order to build it again. That shit makes no sense.
I very much like how you managed to create a ship this big with just the one central ladder.
I've been wanting to do a build with that cockpit too - and this design has given me a lot of good concepts to add into mine.
Doing it as a teardown from the Razorleaf, so that you get to put fear in Pirates is a great idea that I'll also use.
Make it a focused ship-to-ship fighter rather than something that is designed around boarding/stealing another ship (like my current main).

Thank you very much, it took some work. And honestly I messed up by not realizing I had better engines available to use. I had to load an old save to go back before I built it, and when I came back realized that I had to make another video.
This ship can not only be a great fighter, but also have pretty impressive cargo capacity. And, if you only target a ships engines, and only fire one burst at a time from the Exterminators, you can still board easily if you wish.
Finished this build the other day. Minor changes. Used 3 shielded cargo where the rear under side body panel would be. Used the largest engines as they offered more power w less mass. A different shield. And I upped the vanguard guns from 4 to 5. Power runs 46/46 and it slays everything so far incl the level 45 legendary m class va’ruun ship with only 2 strafing runs. Thoroughly impressed! Opted for black w Slytherin green accents. Sexy af.

I do actually use all 6 Vanguard Obliterators, obvious choice with that much reactor power. When I made this video I didn’t realize there were better engines than the 6330, so I made a follow-up optimization video showcasing those engines, how much weight can be added before losing mobility, as well as a lightened version that still retains 4000 cargo, sort of as a balanced version. It’s how I like to fly it.
If you do a lot of smuggling, that third shielded cargo is a good idea. If you want to add more, you can squeeze a couple on the exposed part of the fuel tank, if you’re running the Assurance 1800 shield. It’s got a lot of flexibility.
When I build the Basilisk on my new playthrough, I’m going to minimize weight a lot since I now have the Citadel in my fleet, and it has 7000 cargo.
@@WizeOldWizard I have my payload skill maxed and with that and the tweaks I have, I have 920 shielded cargo.. and I 7275 in normal cargo. Needless to say, shy of the silent runner - I don’t have a higher cargo build. Don’t quote me on it but I think the silent runner is sitting around 14k on cargo. Its maneuberability is in the toilet but the class c auto turrets do the job. This basilisk build is just.. nuts. 5 vanguard guns and 4 of the 175’s.. I don’t have it fully crewed yet bc I don’t have that skill unlocked to add more… but for now.. she still chews through anything that moves wo me having to switch ships for outpost building. Presently my shields sit at 3k w Barrett, the guy from Akila city, and I think Sarah onboard. Once I can get the skill for adding crew open, I can try to re-add the robot. So far due to story progression, he’s camped out at the lodge and won’t re-board. But I think due to a glitch, my new Atlantis has a lot of stuff that’s broken so I can’t say I’m surprised. I was using the star eagle as it’s actually not bad once you drag it up to class b. But this.. this is a whole different beast. It might not have the raw acceleration of the star eagle w class b.. but.. she will absolutely take a beating and keep coming for more! I think my only wish - is a Bethesda wish. Reactors w more power.. and shields over 1500 that have a decent recharge rate on them.
Under the wings you can use the taiyo landing gears instead of the Stroud ones, and they will match the curve of the breaking engines. Otherwise a really nice build.

For rp reasons I thought it'd make sense to have the infiirmary and or armory near the landing bay or the docking port. I'm imagining infirmary for wounded brought in, or for quarantine. And armory for gearing up before boarding action or defending boarding action. Also I like the idea of a brig kept kind of seperate or near the nose so an expendable area suffers frontal fire first.
Also I wish you could take bounties alive or that any of these rp considerations mattered, like hiring a doctor to the crew means you need an infirmary, and it awards some bonus. Or hiring a merchant requires a cargo bay and awards an automated trading system from a specified ship inventory. Or how about hiring a bounty hunter or guard to your crew that requires having a brig and they allow you to transport prisoners. So many missed opportunities.
Agreed, I was thinking about the extra bonus for a specific crew member in a specific hab, would be a sensible mechanic. I also agree with your thoughts on RP hab placement. At least for this build, all there was room for down low was the engineering bay. The rest was a fair amount of take what I could get.
I love how you give the hack to wait for the Stroud-Eklund sales dude while he is hiding in the plants. He loves to do that, for some reason.

Nice build. I am a great fan of the Star Eagle and this has a similar aesthetic.
Going to safe this one for later to see if I can recreate it. There are a few parts I think that could be improved slightly but overall a VERY nice design.
You have a good eye. I was originally going to build this around the Eagle until I learned about the unique Mantis encounters. I took a fair bit of inspiration from the Star Eagle with the intent of taking it up a notch.
I’m going to post an update/follow up for the Basilisk that will detail some tweaks and improvements that I’ve made to arrive at a superior, and final, iteration of my build.

The Cabot bridge is my favorite in the game. It’s so well designed that it basically forces you to design a ship around it.
Awesome video, will definitely look at redesigning my current Razorleaf. I use predominately turrets as I dont want to press 3 buttons to use my full payload but I might look at binding all three weapon types to the same button, dont know if that is possible. I loved the way you did this video, so you earned a sub from me for that man, keep it up 👍👍👍
Man thank you for the feedback and the sub! I also don’t know if your three weapon groups can be bound together, but just so you’re aware, you can still disable and board ships if you just fire one burst at a time with the Exterminators. And ONLY when targeting the engines. So if you fire all three you may be throwing that option away. If you’re not worried about that then it sure would make firing your weapons easier!

Great ship! looks very militaristic and highly logical, I really dig that combination. I think the only setup I would change is the engine layout, never liked the 3 engine side by side look. I've always liked the detached engine look, where the engine housing is external to the ship like the main Battlestar Galatica ship.
Thank you for the great guide! I used this as my intro to shipbuilding at around level 30. The ship i built is nearly a mirror of yours. While i couldnt get some of the major components this ship is still far better than anything else i could get my hands on. It took just over 700k with some wasted credits due to direction changes.
You would probably love the Aetos, my latest build guide. Perfect level 30 ship, and a great candidate for upgrades as you level.
When you hit level 60, be sure to watch the Basilisk Optimization guide to see all of your options for high-level parts.

Yeah, I figured it the hard way lol, he likes to hide.
Funnily enough that's usually where I find him, and assumed that little "cubicle" was his sales corner. There were a few times he was apparently sitting at his main desk that I thought he'd glitched or not spawned so I re-entered the yard.
Eventho i don't understand the choice for the massive interior, this is one of the most well built ships i've seen. Great job !.
1: I wanted to build an 80m ship that wasn't a brick.
2: The cabot bridge is incredible and already has two floors.
3: Why not? The Basilisk is still an agile predator capable of immense destruction. And comfort!
Hawershaw is sometimes hiding behind the chair and plant near his desk, like he is in your video when you dont see him.
Havershaw is really stealing the show, several others have pointed this out and now I’ll never forget. Actually it’s funny, since I posted this he hasn’t been behind that plant a single time. I want to get a clip of it for the next video.
I am terrible at flying the ship, but I made a happy discovery. Stick the weapons spine on the front of the ship and add 4 auto turrets. They are able to reach out and touch hostiles in a big arc.

Nice Ship. I love the Cabot bridge but i hate that none of the cowling or structural components neatly join to it sides. It seems like no matter what you do there is some odd component sticking out just after the cockpit.
Totally agree, and also the reason my upper deck is only one hab unit wide with stroud cowlings on either side. It’s the most streamlined solution I could find.
This gave me some great ideas and it took my rebuild of the Kepler R from a mobility of 50 to 100. But still yours is 100% better looking than what I've ended up with. I'm very much thinking of copying this with my Razorleaf. Nicely done and thank you!
The Scythe makes the most sense for the Razorleaf, give that one a watch.
This was my very first ship build, not just in terms of posting to youtube, but literally my first build. It was intended to be my one and only ship, hence using the Razorleaf for it, as I wanted those encounters.

Very nice ship. There are a couple places where I think you might be able to optimize her a little bit more but I'm not sure if you'd really gain much without completely changing the appearance of the ship. I'm assuming that you've already made sure you aren't losing any workstations to doors and the like?
Also, I prefer to stick my Armory right off the loading ramp, kinda like how the SR1 and SR2 (post refit) have their squad gear bays right in the landing area. The logic is that you're kinda screwed anyways if you're being boarded, so might as well make it easy for the ground team to gear up.
I put my armory above the bridge and the captain’s berth behind that, otherwise all the crew is hanging in my bed! I put a crew 3-in-1 behind the bridge which auto-created a ladder down to the crew habs. That actually worked better for me because I will never go there. Now I have a straight ladder up from the exterior to the bridge and the armory/sleep bed, and if I need to craft, those habs are on either side of the crew 3-in-1.
I've watched all of your ship building videos, and by far, my favorite one is the Basilisk. Bravo!!!🎉🎉 This is an awesome ship.
Much appreciated! I agree it’s the best ship I’ve built, mainly because it was an endgame ship and I had everything available. I started a new playthrough for lower level build but I’ll be back to endgame ships before too long.

As someone who isn't very creative, this design just blows me away. Will defo be copying this for my next playthrough, however I'll have to change from autoturrets as they just stop working for some reason. Thank you for the awesome walkthrough build man.
Don’t confuse auto and turret. This ship has no turrets. Auto refers to high fire rate, but you still have to aim and fire. The Basilisk has such high mobility, it has no use for turrets.
Honestly this is almost exactly what I've been looking for. Been struggling to figure out how to get the curve of the ship's wings, but you nailed it. It was either that or go with a destiny looking ship I used to use that looked like a raptor with 4 engines in a square block of 9 and 2 on each wings.
There are 2 ship designs i always use and this is my favorite.

I never built a ship before and I followed yours to the letter so that I can build some muscle memory and prepare for my next build. This is by far the best, well thought out and complete ship building tutorial that I’ve found anywhere. More content is for sure on the way, I started a new playthrough so that I wouldn’t be leaving out newer players. I rebuilt the Frontier entirely at level 14 and have now re-acquired and re-designed the Star Eagle, so that one is coming very soon. Just need to cut the footage and record the voiceover. I can confidently say that it’s the baddest-ass Star Eagle that I’ve seen, especially considering how early in the game it can be built. Cheers!
