There was a little deaf girl in my Sunday school class. She couldn't hear the music, but when the drums began to play, she lit up. You feel the drum with your whole body. It penetrates to your very soul. Love the drum.
Marching was one of the happiest times of my life. I thank my quads for being my focus and keeping me out of trouble. Percussion *IS* the rhythm of the soul.
Love melodic basses. Grew up in drum corps (timptoms and snare) and any time we'd see a drum line doing this I was mezmarized. One of the most memorable was the bass line for the old Kingston Indians. So melodic and funky! Loved it!
Vikings Pride!!! ECSU will forever be in my heart!!! Attended ECSU briefly and transferred to another HBCU and graduated, My sister was a feature twirler in the ECSU band...majorette twirling baton with fire. She was fyiahhh and I witness her performance starting at 14 yrs. old. This band has always been fiyahhhh!
I was just about to say that but their bass line is so tight with runs I would add more snares to equal the sound the symbols take over the snares during the crescendos…take the southern drum line route overall need more than 4 snares
❤❤❤❤❤1st place to the purple and gold drum line! I L.O.V.E. when they play on the other's drum. I enjoyed watching their performance❤ The blue and white drum line was good, and all of them have GREAT are very talented! Keep it up 🫶🏾
I am a 60 yr old white man from the Uk, a musician myself, I play drums and bass guitar, I'm going to sound racist now, but................. not towards black people, but white, black people make me so jealous, why do they have so much rhythm ,and the best drummers in the world are all black, all my heroes, billy cobham, dennis chambers, tony royster jr, I'm sitting in my PC chair here rocking up and down , sounds brilliant.... keep up the good work, you should all be proud of yourself 😁
U got it 👍 drums are an have been the soul of blk folks Slave time in churches and also are warning ⚠️ music of things to come messages for freedom it's a part of our life where we've been an going.
Lol… they are simply immolating the best of all time… check out Top Secret Drum Core from …??? Yes you guessed it Whiteyville Switzerland !!! As usual we invented a thing and still are the best at doing what we invented.
I marched in the Sherman high School drumline year 95 through 99 and there was actually a part we incorporated from bel biv Devo, songs poison . Check it out! Sounds like we have introduced some lyrics. My drum instructor is named lavell Jones
Both lines performed well. LOD is not at its full strength yet. EC was a worthy opponent and both lines brought great musicianship, presence, and showmanship. 💜💛 #LOD #BOD
My honest assessment: even though EC was definitely smaller, they projected more and had a better balance. They got the win for this one. Benedict's leg tenors and blast basses in the back overpowered the rest by a bit, which kinda affected the balance, but after listening to both snarelines at the low end, EC had cleaner taps and low height rolls. I kinda wish EC would get themselves a quadline to have the tonality and voicings, but that'll come. overall: EC: clean, balanced, but not enough voices, but also played original material, though it was a bit repetitive. No screw ups with the material or any stick drops, bassline knew when to back off. I give a 9/10 Benedict: fuzzy around low heights with the snareline, prolly because there's so many of them. Decent balance, little too much at the back end, original material, and good voicings. (stick drop at the beginning gets them -1 though, but +0.5 for a good recovery) I give a 8/10
I actually enjoyed hearing ECSU . I still think Bendict College has the edge over them with better balance and versatility but being that this was in a gym and not outside, I can respect what you had to say about balance and sound clarity considering the echoes from the enclosed gym space 👍🏾
I heard that the drum coordinator took some of the old EC the late 90s and added some million dollar funk squad. That's just what I've been told. Although I wish EC would bring back acouple of their 90s cadences
When I was in school I was in music class I played the Clarinet our school was little so we couldn't do feild performance No matter where we went we started from downtown passed the judges at least we had warning We would go almost to the boarder of Iowa and we was still in Missouri I still enjoy going and watching the the parade and field performance just got to be dressed warm in October to go long distance we had to be on that bus by 3am
Very entertaining. My only complaint is that the drummers should be organized by size. Not by their chairs. They know what chair they are in. But it would look much better to have them sized. More cohesive.
After the bro in the left drop his stick and the guy in the right look at it 9:38 and his face says - really ? after all that entrance we did you gonna drop that in front of the line HAHAHAHAHAAA
EC sound nice, Benedict sounds fuller cause of their size and relative tightness, but ec was cleaner, I’d love to see ec get big enough to cover every instrument
I was listening to some African drums and wanted to hear American drums.. your stomach, your heart, your appetite will always glue, to the drums, of your own ancestors, better than a Midwest native American, Africa, Hawaiian, Asian, or English drum. March on, playas'.. that's outstanding. It doesn't sound like you're from Africa to me. Whether we're dealing with military great-grandfathers marching and celebrating in uniform or natives in the woods by the Creeks, this is North American southern soul music. traditions cannot be transferred to someone different. Unity will always remain immaculate.. if we are supposed to be from Africa then why don't Africans use drumsticks, twirl drum sticks and tap cymbals? Where'd that tradition come from?

Drums are life. Feel the beat and follow your rhythm
Amen to that
AMEN!!!
Marching was one of the happiest times of my life. I thank my quads for being my focus and keeping me out of trouble. Percussion *IS* the rhythm of the soul.
You can taste those vibrations in your LUNGS
I love how that one guy dropped his drum stick and casually pulled out another one like it never happened 😭
Timestamp?
Its why i keep another pair of sticks on me (and my piers) we cant reach down to get them and waste time

Director would've killed us in practice all the next week for that. 😂
The only thing wrong with this... is it came into my TH-cam feed at 1230 am.. I need to sleep.. now I'm up lol ... this is so good❤
You have incorporated the use of drums in a way I've never seen in European drum corps. This is fantastic! You make America proud young men!
Ukraine's Crazy Drummers...whenever someone mentions the words "drum battle". Currently I only wish them well, and safe from conflict.
Liked both of them, but really impressed with E City. Small and tight as heck! They put on a great show.
Yes Sir!
Yea EC was really clean. I enjoyed listening to them
Same. Benedict, while entertaining, was more flash over substance.
I love drum battles. They make me happy.
The 2nd line was BOMB AF!!! Literally had me dancing!!!! ❤❤❤
Who needs coffee when you can just listen to this? I am wide awake now!!! 😊
Definitely!!! ❤

Great balance of drum corps style and HBCU showmanship I love it.
Great material Benedict . Smooth transitions between cadences. Stick drop was unfortunate but great recovery. Good job yall 🐅 💪🏾

See what we can do together! Amazing!!!! But they all count on each other doing their part. Beautiful.......
Thank you for allowing me tto see this awesome performance from two very good bands. Great job.
Discipline, Excellence, Power! Thanks for posting an inspiring video!❤
Great showing from both bands. EC needs to force one of those cymbal players to learn quads 🤣
Nah, bruh. The snare-bass-cymbal instrumentation is FYAH!
I was just about to say that but their bass line is so tight with runs I would add more snares to equal the sound the symbols take over the snares during the crescendos…take the southern drum line route overall need more than 4 snares
Easier said than done.
I really enjoyed listening and watching then preform.., Fantastic
Some drumlines just don't use quads.
Elizabeth’s bass line was incredible but that beat Benedict dropped at 10:45 was pure 🔥
I luv these Brothas and Sistas jammin’ on dat damn DRUM!!! BRAVO!!👍🏽😁👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Goosebumps and all the feels.
This is top tier dopamine fuel.
Wonderful rhythms...sheer skill and energy . Actually made me miss high school for a second... :D

Dumbest comment I've read in a long time. Embarassing.

The very first cadence, that tonal bass is killer!
The DRUM LINE BATTLES you will find under (HBCU's) HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. Drumline Battles. The bands are fun as well.
Drums will always be it! Heart of the band.
Second group was 🔥 ❤ i love the energy and moves
Academics are even more important!
Simply working on talent. Keep it up dudes .
Awesome. They all did a great job
Daaang...and footwork, too! Impressive...
Trick...hand dancing, too.
Those grooves from EC..🏆🏆🏆 I get a sense the drum director plays the trap set. Their grooves are very trap friendly..
I heard that the drum coordinator took some of the old EC the late 90s and added some million dollar funk squad. That's just what I've been told. Although I wish EC would bring back acouple of their 90s cadences
Nice recovery on the dropped drumstick...always carry extras..
14:57 soo fye🔥🔥
14:43 soo fye🔥🔥
Very nice presentation!
And he marched Santa Clara vanguard tenor terline, instructed by Ralph hardimon. Thanks for the video.

Ah man yall makin me wanna be in the drumline but i play sax🥲
Ok so Benedict won with a little larger drum line and a great cymbal line with great multi drum players but Elizabeth's bass drum line was the best
Elizabeth City got some fire on their cymbals
Love Percussion
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Amazing 👏 🤩 😍
Well we know who won that show!
South Carolina HBCU.
Very entertaining. My only complaint is that the drummers should be organized by size. Not by their chairs. They know what chair they are in. But it would look much better to have them sized. More cohesive.
BOD 4 life but shout-out ECSU
Oh and athletic, too, dancing, carrying and playing the those drums....sheesh...
those tigers ATE 🖤🖤🖤🖤
After the bro in the left drop his stick and the guy in the right look at it 9:38 and his face says
- really ? after all that entrance we did you gonna drop that in front of the line HAHAHAHAHAAA
EC did great. Both drum lines are good tho
Is part of the performance looking bored as all get out?
Is it supposed to be an "I can do this in my sleep" vibe?
EC sound nice, Benedict sounds fuller cause of their size and relative tightness, but ec was cleaner, I’d love to see ec get big enough to cover every instrument
Elizabeth city definitely did not come to play and was every bit impressive but omg Benedict had that shock and awe!
Amazing
AHHHHHMAZING
❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love you from the REAL NATALIA TURNER ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So does someone write all this down on paper?? How do they remember this? The sheet music would have to be like 40 pages long lol
I love the purple people. Plus purple is my fav color
Awesome 👌
Mesmerising, speechless Sorry ❤❤❤❤
Love the steps!😏
