So youtube decided that today, I needed to learn: 1) what a homecoming is, 2) Langston is a University in Oklahoma, 3) Langston U is the westernmost HBCU and 4) my dancing skills are abysmal 😂

I don’t know why the algorithm meant I should see it, but as a 46 year old German who has no clue what’s going on, i am loving every moment of it. Thank you Langston!
@madreep Hands down they absolutely stomp the competitions when they face off against other bands from non-HBCU schools because they really know how to put on a show. Their moves are more about style, rythm, and attitude, while their counterparts rely more on military precision.
In my opinion the 'older' or 'seasoned' folks had a lot more pep in their step that the folks currently in the band! LOL I LOVED THE ENTIRE FUNK TRAIN!
What’s with all that long, flowing hair???? Nothing wrong with styling your own natural hair. Where’s the “prep” in your step??? We definitely had it back in the day!!!! The guys at the end had it going on with those moves!!!! Enjoyed watching in amazement at how our people have changed.
So much fun! You can always tell the ones who are living for it vs the ones who are thinking "please let this be over". And props to the drumline for holding it down!

I’m a native New Orleanian and the daughter of a Dixieland Jazz musician. I can guarantee you that some of the best performances of high school marching bands (I.e. St Aug Marching 100, Warren Easton, etc) are during Mardi Gras parades while they’re awaiting parade lineup. Anyone who’s been to Mardi Gras parades can attest to the fact that parades can stop and even stall for any number of reasons. These amazing musicians use that time to entertain parade goers with impromptu performances that are priceless. Sir, thank you for posting. Your video made my evening.
Being Canadian is weird because you feel like you should understand US culture pretty well. But then you see something like this and you’re like “it’s beautiful and completely foreign to me”
Being a northern ohioan is also weird bc sometimes I think does Canada have an influence on my "accent?" *Well, previously from there. Bc who doesn't?.. I don't elongate my O's tho. Or I just thought about this too hard bc me in my actual world 🤔🤷🏻♀️: everyone sounds the same... to me. Unless it's vowels or certain words they use. Vs hearing ppl on the net ..
Less about you being Canadian (many white Americans have no idea either) and more about you probably never attending a HBCU football game or campus(historically black university/college). Many HBCU’s pride theirselves on their band almost as much as their athletic teams. You watch the halftime shows instead of skipping out to go get concessions. Not enough to be musically talented….they truly entertain. If you are ever in the States during the fall, the big games are called “Classics” and have incredible halftime shows, parades, etc. Try to catch one.👍
That is because there is more than one culture in the US. We are a fruit salad, with each distinct fruit having its own flavor and having its own culture!
This is my third time watching this, I will never get tired of watching this. The band, the drums, the energy from everyone marching to the beat of the drums is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Well done to the younger generation, but I do have to give it up to the alumni, just perfection from every group 👌🏽

Fun facts…1) there is a football game happening behind them. 2) HBCU band tunnels are usually fun and typically, only percussion instruments are used. 3) the 5th quarter (look up the 5th quarter) is probably 10x more entertaining than this.
Loved the energy! ❤ So much talent and dedication. So interesting to see this unity vs. the media news, which is so negative towards our youth and communities. Great to see positivity and harmony. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾

The BEST 16 minutes on TH-cam. My favorite part, the alumni coming in with the let me show you how it's done attitude. I loved this!
Best thing I've ever seen -- from a very OG Drill team gal!!
Loved the energy! ❤ So much talent and dedication. So interesting to see this unity vs. the media news, which is so negative towards our youth and communities. Great to see positivity and harmony. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾
I really enjoyed that!💯💖✌🏽 Something i really wanted as a teenager but never received the support from the parents! Outstanding
