Getting old is a privilege that not everyone gets to appreciate. Support your Alumni.
I tell young people that all of the time. They call me old, I tell a lot of you will never get to be this old 😢, even though I pray that they outlive me by the 10th power of Infiniti .

I don’t know why the algorithm meant I should see it, but as a 46 year old German who has no clue what’s going on, i am loving every moment of it. Thank you Langston!
It's a HBCU band alumni. HBCU is Historically Black College and University. They're alot of fun and honestly the highlight at football games ❤
@madreep Hands down they absolutely stomp the competitions when they face off against other bands from non-HBCU schools because they really know how to put on a show. Their moves are more about style, rythm, and attitude, while their counterparts rely more on military precision.
"Homecoming" is an elaborate cultural tradition in North America - there's a decent Wikipedia page on it - this is part of that celebration.

So youtube decided that today, I needed to learn: 1) what a homecoming is, 2) Langston is a University in Oklahoma, 3) Langston U is the westernmost HBCU and 4) my dancing skills are abysmal 😂

In my opinion the 'older' or 'seasoned' folks had a lot more pep in their step that the folks currently in the band! LOL I LOVED THE ENTIRE FUNK TRAIN!

We definitely had it back in the day!!!! The guys at the end had it going on with those moves!!!!

And for the alumni it has to be some muscle memory from when younger and years of practice while at college! The alumni was my favorite part!

From a former Tuba dog, ( to clarify, not this school) this was one of the best drummer funk cadence I've heard since the 80s. The routines for each section were great! A great idea!

I admire the alumni who came back to perform. I graduated from college in '86. If i had to do those moves now, I would have one of my grandkids meet me behind the camera at the end and rub my joints with Biofreeze cos Lord knows they would be sore.

My son loved Marching Band and I loved being a parent booster and helper to their band. These students bond so much with each other and with other bands. They work really hard and deserve to be showcased. All the practice and hard work they have put in during high school and now at university is incredible and takes dedication. Sometimes the best part of a football game is the band.
I was on "The Yard" when Breaux and Brown Hall were there! Shout out to C-side, "The Village", The late moma Green, the cafeteria staff, Butch, Loves, Cigar Jones, The BSU, the old "wall", and Dean Austin apartments, etc 🙌🏾 😂❤😅🎉... It was truly a pleasure to have been a part of history on "The Hill". God bless all current, past, and transitioned LU family members 🙏🏾 ☺️

Man, I love stuff like this. I did drum corps in high school and two of my kids did marching band (snare & bari sax). Fun to watch the kids, but definitely fun to watch the adults too. And big ups to the drum line for hanging in there with as much energy at the end as at the beginning!
When the cheerleaders in the gold outfits came down, I thought I was watching Coming to America!

I love it when high schools and colleges show love to the generations from the past to showcase how we did it back in the day. No shootings and fights at games! Just fun times, hanging with friends and admiring all of the fine girls!! 👍🏽❤️🙏🏽

I’m a native New Orleanian and the daughter of a Dixieland Jazz musician. I can guarantee you that some of the best performances of high school marching bands (I.e. St Aug Marching 100, Warren Easton, etc) are during Mardi Gras parades while they’re awaiting parade lineup. Anyone who’s been to Mardi Gras parades can attest to the fact that parades can stop and even stall for any number of reasons. These amazing musicians use that time to entertain parade goers with impromptu performances that are priceless.
