That solo man.. I tear up when I hear it. That’s some SOUL right there. That trombone wasn’t being played, it was SINGING. You can hear all the emotions in every note, man.. that’s the best I’ve ever heard it right there. Bravo🔥💯
I must have watched 14:40 at least 50 times. I pick a different person to look at to see how long it takes them to recognize the excellence before them.
Bear with me for a second.. I have 10 years of orchestra (standard and symphony) under my belt. I grew up across the street from my HS football stadium, I've heard more brass than most from that alone. But on top of all that, our stadium used to host an international marching band competition every year. The talent is hand picked and recruited by multimillion dollar budget bands to travel across the US and put on shows for local communities. We're talking thousands of the best band musicians from all over world on hundreds of buses.. I've estimated that in 21 years of living there, I listened to at least 30k musicians try their hardest to impress the crowd. The solo at the 14:30ish mark just blew every single one of those professional musicians out of the water and he was just having fun.. if he isn't being begged to play trombone for millions of dollars, he needs to be found and handed a contract.
You ain’t tell no lies brugh. Shawty blew me away. And not too steal his shine but the soul in the entire section was powerful. Right on. And I’m just listener of music.
Same here! This was the brass battle equivalent of the 90's Cowboys against last years Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm an old trumpet player and his slide work blows away anything I've ever heard. He was doing freaking SAXOPHONE runs on a trombone !!! Incredible 🔥🔥🔥
@@killaG28 I’m sorry Big Penguin for being amazed by William Bilal. I’m sorry that my excitement and want for him to blow up came off as being corny. My bad Big Penguin.
I saw the solo in an Instagram reel and IMMEDIATELY needed to see the whole video. Literally made me tear up. I’m that moment the band knew exactly what needed to be done, they came together and merged into one sound, one soul, one incredibly talented and beautiful performance. But that solo bruh omg, his passion, his skill, the enthusiasm from everyone else around him, was just absolutely incredible. THIS is what music is for. It has the power to unite people, and touch souls. But another thing is there are NO hateful or even negative comments on this video. Considering this is the internet that is an absolute statement to how incredible that performance was. Bravo my man, you and the rest of the band have done the impossible.
What I love about this clip is the band members not playing are passively listening at first and then….They realize something epic is happening and all off them lock in to it. So cool
The solo guy was in Flow State, he wasn't thinking of what if he messed up the rhythm or what the people think of him, he was in his element doing what he love💯🔥

I came from TikTok. This trombone line has the BEST tone and projection. They made 15 ppl sound like 50! The raw talent the soloist has is amazing. The skill and the tone is mesmerizing! They just made this old band geek wanna go back to marching band lol
As a former trombone player...that was impressive. To the non-trombone players, what you heard was an impressive blend of glissando and slurring while playing Al Jarreau's "Black and Blues".
@@TheSmokingSeshLLCme too. I’ve seen a short of this but not whole thing . BC trombone section is FIYA🔥🔥🔥. What is that young man’s name and what is he doing now?
Me, a trombonist: “This dude is badass, I need to know his name” Also me, a trombonist: “I cannot play like that and therefore life is not worth living”
His last name is Bilal. Can't recall his first name but his older brother is a nationally known recording artist, Hank Bilal. Even performed at Grammy's. Whole family is talented!
As a former musician, this sent chills down my spine. He and the members playing with him knew they had something special and I bet it felt great being able to share it. As a spectator, I feel blessed just being able to watch this solo. I stumbled upon it on my Facebook reels and made my way to the original song and then to this video. This snached my soul 1000x more than the original singer version.
Exactly. I have had to watch this multiple times because there is nothing but raw emotion and passion in there. It gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. It leaves me wanting more.
In all my years in Marching Band, I have NEVER heard a Trombone Sang like that! That was the best thing I have ever heard. That Man played one heck of a Solo. I actually cried lol. I wish him all the success in the world! Also the mark of an Outstanding Selection is when after you smoke the other band they come back with what I like to call “We just gonna ignore what just happened because we can not top that we are going to switch the genre of music up we play all together”
You weret the only one! I just decided to stay in from the club listening to this on repeat. And I'm more ready to feel the rhythm than ever before... tears!
Lord I don’t know where trombonist William Bilal is right now, but I pray you continue to bless this young man the way he blessed the world with this solo because it was INSANE. I can’t stop watching
14:34-16:20 This right there snatches the soul, puts it into a vice and won't let go. The first time you hear it, it is dope. The second time it makes you feel every single note. Each subsequent time after that it brings a tear (tears) to the eye as you can feel it reach down into the depth of your core, wrapping it's velvety notes around your soul and straight ripping it out. You'll feel lain bare as you try to fill the empty space up with this sound keeping it on replay until real life intrudes upon you and you have to return. I am very much partial to the violin with a section in my heart for a good bit of piano but this man straight murdered it. Out of respect I did listen to Al Jarreau's original version of Black and Blues but once you hear this, the original can't compare (imo anyway).
I like to think that both football teams were just on the field watching him and waiting for him to finish his sermon before they continued with their play.
Cause how could they go on in the middle of that greatness! The sound coming out of that line is astonishing. I was in the marching band and I’ve never heard it played like that.
I love that when he starts you can see the hype slowly build to a boiling point in which everybody there suddenly realizes they are witnessing greatness. Truly epic

Bruuuuuuuh I’m happy I’m not the only one😂😂😂😂
The build up on this comment is just superb lol

14:34-16:20 This right there snatches the soul, puts it into a vice and won't let go. The first time you hear it, it is dope. The second time it makes you feel every single note. Each subsequent time after that it brings a tear (tears) to the eye as you can feel it reach down into the depth of your core, wrapping it's velvety notes around your soul and straight ripping it out. You'll feel lain bare as you try to fill the empty space up with this sound keeping it on replay until real life intrudes upon you and you have to return.
