  • We are unpacking 1,000 cookbooks! We are setting up my cookbook library in the new house. I have cookbooks on all aspects of cooking and food. My cookbook library is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It will take me a little time to get all my cookbooks on the shelves. I am excited about completing this home organization project. What's up Wednesday! I hope you have a great day!

    Nice to know I’m not the only one with a cookbook library, I get excited knowing that you’re excited about your cookbooks just like I get excited about mine, I think we are kindred spirits. I love your channel… Keep Your videos coming, I cannot wait to see your completed pan room and your completed cookbook library.

      Thank you Patti. I understand. It's kinda like being reunited with something you care about. In some cases, there's a story about how you acquired the book and the memories it brings back. Well, it's a process. She has a lot of more reunions to go through until they are all up on the shelves.

    Hi Amy & Eric!!! I have alot of cookbooks but you sure have me beat. What a wonderful collection. They will look great all up in the room. Have fun putting them all up!!! Great video my friends!!!

      Thank you DiDi. What's nice about this room is how they all fit. In the other house, we tried a few things. Nothing wrong with the old house, but they seem to fit better here. Amy can have her library with library furniture and all that. Glad you enjoyed. Happy Wednesday!!!

      They are terribly heavy. Glad you could take them with you when you moved. Growing up, my family had some financial disaster and lost our home. So we had to pack what we could fit in the truck. Might have had more books from my mom if that didn't happen.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some (well, a few at least) is my mom's. Amy's been collecting for a long while. 25 years at a minimum. The Martin Yan book has to be right around 20 years old. He was a lot of fun to meet. Very humorous and genuine. It was a pleasure. Can't say that all celebrity chef's are the same. The food festival was lots of fun too. Nice thing about California is how many food festivals they have. But lots of stories with those books.

    Wow! You have a Huge job ahead of you. I have about 10 Cook books. If I get anymore books I will put them on my Amazon tablet, for me it’s about limited space. How do you organize all your books? Do you go by author or titles? Grilling, baking, or other areas? Good luck with the job.

    I noted that all of your cookbooks seem to be for cooking in the 20th and 21st century (1900 to present.) Do you have any cookbooks with Receipts from the 18th and 19th century (1700's to the late 1800's.) If you don't you need to get some as they have made me a much better cook.

    • @EricLearnstoCook
      @EricLearnstoCook 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have one that I'm aware of. The Epicurean by Charles Ranhofer. He ran Delmonico's in New York City in the late 1800s and published the cookbook in 1894, I believe. Our reprint is from 1930, I think. We covered it on a few shows. Cooking a few recipes. He was regarded as one of the best French chefs of his time and brought a lot of his knowledge of fine dining that we didn't have before. While I think the recipes might be hard to interpret based on how they wrote back then (not using exact temperatures for the oven), but the way they cook is really educating. So I know what you mean.

    Just do not use Canola or Soybean oil in any of your recipes as they are highly inflammatory. Martha Stewart's cookbooks use too much sugar and too much canola. I use my favorite Olive oil from Trader Joes for my Zuchine bread and I reduce the sugar by 1/3 cup. It tastes amazing using Betty Crocker original recipe with the ground cloves !
