After many years homemaking and homesteading, my best advice came from my niece. She said she had to simplify her meals and I decided to give it a try as I have a small farm and homeschool and it was a gamechanger for me! My family raves about my simplified meals as I use more quality ingredients, most of which we raise or grow ourselves or purchase from local farmers and it all takes less time!
@@godsbuckets well we’re Dutch and we love boiled potatoes, cooked or steamed veggies en organic meat to go with that. I always make a good gravy with butter to pour over the potatoes. And sometimes fry up some mushrooms and unions along with the meat. Sometimes I make a quick curry sauce to go with cauliflower. It’s basically typical Dutch cooking and my kids really enjoy it. It’s really nothing fancy at all 😅🤣.
Thank you for sharing your comment. My eldest son who is 53 is Quadriplegic lives alone and has caretakers who come in to do everything for him. They seem to never have time to cook anything good. You mentioning your caring for elderly people made me think maybe these great recipes could help my son’s caregivers. Thank you again sweetheart.
A meatball (or burger or meatloaf) tip that changed the game for me was to season it, pluck off a little blob of it, cook it in a pan and taste it for seasoning. More often than not I add more salt or flavor of some kind after doing that.
Would also like to see a"day in the life" of your husband. My husband is now stay at home dad and we homeschool as well. I think it could encourage him, thank you!
My daughter never ate zucchini, even if I put it in meatloaf or something. But recently I have been filling zucchini halves with seasoned burger meat, top with cheese and call it cheeseburger stuffed zucchini and she eats it. Some fries with it (both go in the oven) and it's a quick meal and still healthy despite it sounding like fast food.
The swedish meatballs....its always so interesting to me, as a swede, to see how amaricans always put the meatballs in the gravy!=) that is something we never do in sweden...we have the gravy on the side=)
Ha ha I agree, I’m from Sweden as well 🇸🇪 but my grandma actually did her meatballs in gravy so maybe it’s something that used to be done here as well?
The orange chicken looks delicious. Your choice of music is very pleasant 💜 I’m a great grandmother now and watching you and your family makes me wish I could go back and do it all again. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, me too! I was just telling my sister in law that today! I was a young mother of three boys in the 90's/2000's and I had zero interest in natural, healthy or organic living back then. BUT, now that I'm a grandmother of 6, (7, soon!) I have more time to research all the health benefits of natural living, and hopefully implement some of these practices in our everyday lives, even at our (middle) age! I just looked up a local dairy farm and I cannot wait to get some raw milk and other essentials from them!
Thanks for sharing your cooking with us! I love putting some frozen grated chicken liver in my meatballs and I think it makes them taste even better and the kids cannot taste it!
Love these meal idea's. It's always hard to know what to make when I feel like lunch need's to be quickly made to eat. We also homeschool 3 children and one goes to a private school so it's nice to have more idea's.
Thanks for sharing these recipes, Lisa. I love Swedish meatballs but I add a good splash of Worcestershire sauce for a more meaty flavor to the gravy. Have a great school year.
my family always asks me "what's in it" and I tell them just eat it because if I tell ya, you won't eat it 🤣 they get scared then but eat it all up anyways. If they really want to know, I'll tell them after they've eaten it. I usually don't let them in the kitchen when I try to hide something in it, lol. Fabulous ideas!!! I cook the same as you do, always wonderful, simple, and tasty!
Lisa! Thanks so much for that link for the fall menu plan. I remember you sharing that last fall and I never got it and I was trying to find it after I got the summer meal plan which I absolutely love. As always, thank you for your time in sharing your videos. God bless you and yours!
We are a large family and I make a bulk amount of brown rice in my Instant pot with the first meal I need it with. I freeze what's left and then just thaw it out when I need it with other meals.
Does it taste the same when you defrost it? As a somewhat bigger family, I struggle with the texture change after freezing so many meals. There's only a handful of things that I can't tell were frozen so I'm trying to figure out more options for freezing meals
@@TheBalancedMom Yes, it tastes the same (sometimes better)! It can be reheated in the microwave or the oven. When I reheat it in the oven, I add a small amount of butter to a piece of parchment paper then place the rice on top.
Deliciousness quick meals , looks great ! I am hooked on your channel , and thank you so much for all the hime-cooked meals, tips, and skis just being so natural ‘
The simple wholesome pure ingredients are the most healthful and delicious meals. I always like taking recipes and improvising to make them my own as well. Thank you Lisa for sharing some of your favorite dishes!
I just found your amazon, thank you for sharing! Wish the apron you are wearing here was on the list. Would love a full coverage one and not just one that covers my waist.
I just learned that everything you used in the beginning is how to make homemade teriyaki sauce, so I'm guessing even easier, would be teriyaki and orange juice. Love these recipes.
For the meatballs, try David Lebovitz recipe "Spiced kefta". I make it with chicken, and I add grounded nuts or almonds- the addition of cinnamon is divine- it's being used vastly in Mediterranean kitchen for hearty meals and it's such a delight.
Just purchased your Fall Meal Plan! Excited to try it out this fall and get some new meal ideas. We also homeschool so this gives me one less thing to have to plan on my own! Thanks!
I was looking for a chicken pot pie recipe and came across your blog. I am going to try the orange chicken recipe that I also found on your blog. I love the ingredients you use, such a healthier alternative than the boxed stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!
The meals look so delicious!!....what kind of chicken laid those dark brown eggs, they are so beautiful!!....I too have "picky" mushroom eaters, I find that if you use a Cuisinart to finely chop them, they are harder to detect!!...

Agreed! My young children love and thrive and grow really well on simple, but wholesome healthy meals.
I’m trying to do this! Can you give me some examples of what you make?

Also, not sure if you asked me or the initial poster, but I thought I’d answer anyway 🤣
I cook a lot for elderly people. These are great ideas! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family

I liked this video! Please more 30 minute meals! Also some 60 minute meals!

Will you share your daily schedule? We’re about to be starting our homeschool, with multiple grades this year and I’d love some ideas on scheduling!
Would also like to see a"day in the life" of your husband. My husband is now stay at home dad and we homeschool as well. I think it could encourage him, thank you!
I use beef bone gelatin to thicken sauces and smoothies…it is so good….and gives more nutrition.
I'm trying the meatballs with mushroom gravy tomorrow. I loved it when she said to cut the veggies up smaller, they will never notice. 😄
Works on picky husbands, too!

That is pretty much all our cuisine 😜😜😜. Our spin on whatever everyone else in the world cooks😜😜😜

Years ago my sister in law taught me to slice potatoes when cooking them for mashed potatoes.
The creamy meatballs with mash potatoes look so yummy!!!!!
Thanks for the meal ideas. We have a ton of ground beef right now so I'm definitely going to give those meatballs a try!

My family likes our salmon really well done. It remains moist and tender regardless, so I bake it 5-10 minutes longer than I used to.

I wave my chefs knife around like you🤣! My husband is always making jokes about it!

Although your spices will taste amazing, the spices for authentic Swedish Meatballs is nutmeg and allspice. Just a thought!
