Thank you for this one Matt! I've have a ghost coolant leak on my '04 5.3 even with dye put in on refills can't seem to find and you gave me few "known to leak" checks to inspect beyond the obvious longtime shad tree knowhow! Love your channel!!
Yes, we've had the "Y" connector leak on 2005 GM Yukon had mechanic replace that. Also had fitting at firewall leak, bad design for "quick assembly". Not tool long after that, the plastic radiator driver side cover exploded. Also, replaced leaky water pump twice. Did all those repairs myself except for the first listed.
Unpopular opinion but I like the spring loaded hose clamps vs the worm screw ones. They always hold consistent pressure as the hose ages. Unless it’s in a very tricky area but hose clamp pliers(the kind with the cable) are a life saver
I love all your videos! I have a 2001 Silverado 4.8L that overheats. I have replaced the thermostat, water pump and coolant sensor. The EGR valve cable broke off but I haven't replaced it. Is that important? I don't see any leaks but can't get it from overheating. The first time it overheated the warning light came on and said check coolant or something than before I could pull over it gave a different warning of overheated. The truck in some instances has gone from 210 to 230 and back to 210 within a few minutes. I keep thinking it might be the headgasket or another theory now after this video is the heater core. I don't have any water on the floor though. I at one time did have water on the floor but my a/c was going bad so I think that was the reason. The a/c doesn't work now at all but don't want to fix that until I find out the overheating issue. Any ideas?
New sub here, can you do 4.3 Astro please? 2002 safari there is 1/4 “ rubber hose (vacuum) loose on top of the engine in the middle I don’t know where supposed to go

You're welcome! The only ghost coolant leak has to do with the heads. I got a bunch coming out on that soon!
Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks for the focus on this Gen chevy

If a car is leaking oil would a heavier weight for cold W temps be better than heavier weight for operating temps?

My lower hose clamp on the radiator failed and was causing a leak.
These engines have excellent seals. Want it to stop leaking? Get rid of the Dex kill
Forgot the o ring under the plate on the back of the water pump
