    That goose isn't a few hours old. A few days maybe.

    sir my gosling just popped out of the egg ...did I need to feed him something or he can survive for 48hours after his hatch?

  • @Tokis86
    @Tokis86 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    1. I disagree with the statement "they don't need to be fed for up to 48hrs". Yes they can survive 2 days without food but that doesn't mean that its good for them and after 2 days without food they will be suffering greatly. They can eat within about an hour of hatching (and the sooner they get food & water the better).
    2. For really young chicks, soft mushy food mixes are the best (nothing in their wild habitat is dry & powered and many chicks suffer from digestive problems being fed too much powdered foods from too little a age). You can create DIY chick foods from stuff like canned dog meat mixed with oats & water (high protein and full of vitamins, minerals and fluids, this mix is great for most baby semi-domestic types of birds).

      Also the flooring of the cages are wire fencing. Not the ideal choice.

      We usually put eggs under a mother goose and she takes care of them. Never ever the goslings are denied of food or water, when they feed we usually grab mom's neck to prevent her from gobbling up the mush that is for the kids. Not violently, just to redirect her to her feeding trough.

      So it can grow right or get picked up like that, doesn't it jump and wander off if I'm not looking

      He did say I quote “they don’t need” part. So that it completely up to you to want to or not to. He didn’t dictate or said you shouldn’t feed feed them for up to. Use your best judgement. My question is do you need to snack or eat when you shouldn’t or do you just want to because that’s how obesity happens in humans. 🤷‍♂️

    What starter feed are you using with baby goslings?

    • @skincrx
      @skincrx ปีที่แล้ว

      Any brand duck/geese grower. He’s using dumor brand. This as an old 90’s video, new dumor packaging doesn’t look like that anymore.

      Dumor is the brand. Tractor supplies Carrie’s it but doesn’t matter what brand unless if organic or regular feed. Make sure it’s duck/geese grower

    Its best not to because it doesnt have alot of protien i think it even doesnt have any but if it does then you need to crush it into almost a powder but little bigger than an ant size and i think it will be fine but thy NEED PROTIEN.

    Every poultry video I watch there's some foreigner wanting the poster to send them some chickens or how to get chickens....wtf?

    • @skincrx
      @skincrx ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol don’t get mad. Just try to understand that just because our country has hatcheries available for use and breeders that sells, other countries don’t have the luxury for all that. So these videos are influencing them to want to get in the hobby. But I see what your saying. These aren’t advertising videos to sell hatchlings 🤣

    Hello, did anyone scare you before that raising geese and birds causes diseases, especially lung fibrosis? I heard and read, and after that I was afraid, and I am thinking of leaving raising birds. What do you think?

      You should trust him. Just don’t trust “ehow” p Allen is not affiliated to “ehow” I’m sure they paid him to do this video for him. If you watch his real videos in his real page he’s way more informative and educating than this stupid video from ehow
