We got a call in about an alleged orphaned Gosling, although he/she will most likely never see his family again he will most certainly get all the care and attention necessary until he/she is ready to be released back into the wild! You can also help these animals & hopefully this information will benefit you! If you have any questions please leave a comment or reach out to me on Instagram/Twitter!

For anyone watching Ducks really like any fruits or vegetables and they need some protein so Dog Food is OK too but bread and crackers is bad onions avocado bed grapes OK without the skin same with blueberries. Look it up before you feed them anything but they do eat a lot of different things so you probably have something in your house they would like also dandelions clovers garden plants... that aren’t sprayed with weedkiller
Canned dog food or pumpkin or thawed frozen veggies cut small (no onion)
    Good job guys

If you want to give them water but you don’t want them to get their whole bodies wet then you can use a bowl and put a ball in the center or an upside down smaller bowl in the center just so that they can dunk their heads that’s important because they need to clean their beaks and their eyes and water
I’m just adding these comments because I think this is a really good video and yesterday I was scrambling to find information.... good to have it all in one place!

Thanks for your tip about the water. Found a little duckling a day ago & converted one of our Cat Carriers into a Duckling Nursery. Was having a real problem with him jumping/falling into water bowl. (it’s only a small bowl) but whenever I changed hot water bottle or went near him, he would get scared & run and try to hide sitting in water or food bowl. Even when I leave the poor chap alone (which I do for the majority of time - in a small , quiet, darkened room) I can hear him barrelling around clanging into the dishes! I’ve been going back to the river to try to find Mum. But I’ll try your suggestion Re the water bowl. Thanks for posting this info, much appreciated 😊

Hi! Thanks for keeping this little one safe. Just in terms of goose specific rehab - remember to always offer a range of heat rather than one uniform to give them the ability to move away from the source, and for feed, they are herbivores and need low protein, so think dandelion leaves and proper goose food. More grass than cow.

Love that you do this any advice I just have another possible recommendation instead of using water inside of a sock or heating pad that could get really cold as soon as it reaches room temperature is going to freeze the duck so I think you can microwave rice or beans (probably any grain) inside of a sock and it stays warm for a really long time too!

I found a baby muscovy duckling yesterday, its mother wasn't around, he was cold and also being stepped on and bullied by another grown male duck... I got him warm and fed... but he won't stop calling for his mother... will the crying eventually stop???

We had rescued an abandoned egg, it’s doing very well and developing marvellously. We have a feed store that has poultry starter kit about 40 minutes away. Parents have been gone and siblings are nowhere to be found. There were 6 eggs total and only 2 shells in the nest

Mine really liked watermelon! I had one cut when I came home with him and I knew they needed sugar water so I gave him some and it worked out really well he loved it. I would think that’s probably better than giving him Gatorade and some thing that’s not natural but I know they do need water and electrolytes

Hey Sean, Thanks for the video. We found an injured gosling (leg) who is having trouble keeping up with parents and babies. I've contacted wildlife rehab, who will take him, but we are torn and don't want to take them away from phis arents. We love the geese and them. Know as well. The baby is hiding in the bushes, and their parents check on her; however, they are tending to other babies. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!

We found a Canada gosling in our pool this morning. About the same size as this one. I have crushed up dog food, grass and dandelions. I don't think he's eaten or drank anything all day :-( I have contacted a few rescues but not heard anything yet.

I recently rescued one about 2 weeks of age. I'm going to go get non medicated chicken and duck feed for it soon, until then can oats and grass sustain him for a day or so? Hes been eating and drinking very well but I dont know how much nutrition hes getting with just the grass and oats.

  • @FknNefFy
    @FknNefFy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Also they can swim earlier in nature because their mom oils their feathers for them but if you find an orphan duckling and it gets wet it could stay wet and hypothermia is the number one cause of death for them so you need to make sure he’s dried off and warm and not shaking and shivering or else he will die pretty quickly

1 month ago I have been looking after a couple who had nested in a part of the mall they hatched recently but then all of a sudden while going to work to check on them .... the Mama Goose is gone papa goose is gone 2 other goslings is gone but found the 2 just in open space In a planter where they had hatched.
I looked around can't find the parents nor siblings... it was dangerous for them so we took them and bringing them this weekend to a animal sanctuary specializing in orphaned animals

I just got three babies Last night and your phone died right away but the one that survived is doing well. I think the two day because they were scared and cold and I was just thinking a good idea to bring if you know you’re rescuing Ducks is a refillable water heaterthing or those Handwarmers that you exposed to air and put in your gloves when you go skiing but just be careful they get pretty hot it would be good to have them under the blanket though

I just rescued 3 there were 4 maybe more. One was squished in the road. I kept putting them in the grass but they kept following me back to the car. So now I have three little geese in my apartments, they think I'm mom. Went to TSC and got a whole lot of stuff for them. They're so needy but some country music finally calmed them down.

You can get unmedicated starter feed from a distributor, the calcium yes and they are prone to angle wing. I would highly recommend contacting local wildlife rehabilitation center, they will aid you. Keep me updated!

There’s a gosling at the lake near my house and there’s a gosling there that has been pecked by one of the other geese and it had a wound at the back of its neck, it’s about 2 weeks old and its parents there had no problem leaving him behind and they didn’t mind us holding him. It could barely walk and it kept trying to waddle to its parents but they tried to leave him we might go there tomorrow bc my parents didn’t let us take him today so I need help. He/she is a bit bigger that that one but it’s wings are still not grown in yet, the species of the gosling is a Canada goose so I want to take him to make sure he will not get abandoned by his parents or killed by any Fox’s or dogs or other geese. He probably won’t survive the night but if he does I really want to take him but I don’t know what I’ll do if my parents don’t let me take him.

Not sure about Goslings, but I read that when feeding ducklings, it's important not to feed too much protein. They can develop a condition called Angel wings, where the wings grow too fast due to the higher-than-natural amount of proteins. I think with geese, it's probably ok, since they grow so much larger. But please read up on things like this.

I actually raise ducklings and goslings and you shouldn't be feeding them anything except for duck feed and also use a heat lamp instead of a heating pad and instead of a blanket use wood shavings that are meant for animals
