- House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke after the House passed a set of foreign aid packages, including $60.8 billion in aid for Ukraine, remarking that he would rather "send bullets" than troops to overseas conflicts. Johnson has faced threats to oust him as speaker from GOP lawmakers opposing Ukraine funding.

In america today record high rent, record homelessness, record deficits in trillions, yet americas priority is ukraine?
It's a different matter altogether, we aren't doing the fighting so that's great, the money out actually comes back Johnson said 80% to our weapons sector, that's great, employment etc. we don't have to think about that and all it's downstream, that's huge as it is, strong performance for the GDP.
RENT indeed is a problem. Metropoles shouldn't be allowed to grow to be behemoths like the huge cities we have, there needs to be limits, sprawling rather than rising. City planners should work this way, transport and infrastructure should fit correctly, with bias on moving outwards to the suburbs further away. This will take a generation to fulfill, cooperation of the next 4 or 5 presidencies.

$278.00 per person in America is what 95 billion works out to, for a year. Out of that $179.00 is for Ukraine with $41.00 being a loan and the rest essentially a gift.
Seems like a reasonable price to pay to maintain our leadership position and financial position globally. Good solid investment in America right there.
The ambulance thing is an issue for sure, but the solution is to advocate for progressive policies vs refusing to support your allies and ignore your geopolitical interests.

Read an article from US last night that 3 moderate Rep members told Johnson if he didn't do the right thing, they would resign immediately (sacrificing their jobs), and that would mean Democrats would rule the House with majority. However, I do believe a part of Johnson believes the threat from Russia is very real.

Good that he came to his senses. But the Senate Bill was virtually identical. He just had to put some superficial dressings on it to save face and make it look like the house improved on it.
One of the key differences is that the DOD must make a plan within 45 days for how to defeat Russia in Ukraine.
This is the first time that victory against Russia has been proposed. It will be mandated by law once passed by the Senate and signed by President Biden.
I like that a lot more than the previous bill.
