The problem you are running into (and once it hits GGG's todo list will be fixed) is the hit causes a hit which causes a hit... all in the same frame going infinite with freeze (or until you die). Mitigated down to 0 means you aren't taking a hit. Blocking the damage will either not fix the looping in a single frame, or it will stop it after 1 block.
that could be true - it could be I'm not actually doing 0 dmg over and over to myself and crashing because of infinite freezes, and I'm just crashing because the game doesn't know how to freeze an enemy that's actually me and not areal enemy. I think more testing can be done to figure this out, and if that's a case then my idea won't work. in my head when I made the video, I was thinking it recognized it as a hit first cuz it originally dealt dmg, then when it calculates how much life to take out, it came out to 0 so it still was a hit but no life was lost. If that's the case, this hit should also go thru block chance calc
@chernGaming it may give you an initial 0 damage hit, but many things don't trigger off 0 damage in PoE such as status ailments. I wouldn't be surprised to know thorns is close to being handled like a status ailment. Either way it's not looping 0 damage hits because you didn't crash :p
Im new to poe2 still in act 3 but if im correct i think there is a spirit gem where u cast on being hit combine that with more thorns n enough life on hit and percent of damage taken recoup n u got *infinate casts*.
Maybe warbringer block all passive but have shield on n when u manually block for a slit sec u will cast a bunch n stop immiatly when u stop blocking cuz active blocking turn off the block all perk if i remeber correctly. Or itll jus still crash not sure.
yeah I think need to focus on breaking the 0 hit loop, since that's the real problem. I don't really want to damage myself and try to regain all that life back per hit if I can help it, and even then it would run into the same issue, how do I utilize the infinite loop. it could solve another possible problem tho - if blocks do not count against 0 dmg hits
Its not a Loop btw. The Minion Dying Triggers it now... Does SRS Despawning count as dead minions? or we can abuse Weapons with a single minion to do Thorn Damage... But i don't see any other way.
Be careful with the instance crashing, GGG is likely going to apply blanket bans because people are abusing instance crashing for free crafting rerolls
How does the rollback effect your inventory/item state? For example, Vaal an item -> Equip chest to rollback. Does the vaal corupt become undone effectively giving you infinite attempts at what you want? Do trades/item drops become reversed effectively duping? Can you gamble a bunch of items at a vendor and then undo it with the rollback? Hopefully GGG is auto-saving your character state prior to the rollbacks any time something "significant" happens, or else there's gonna be some huge repercussions with all these ways to force a crash+rollback.
I've tried that with the same uniques and doesn't do anything (helmet+ring). The thorns was supposed to hit enemies, not yourself, so I'm kind of lost on how you are hitting yourself with over and over again wit thorns. I couldn't find anything on the passive tree that does that, neither on another unique. I have a warbringer if you want to test it more.

is it the same case in my video, where if you don't have enough thorns damage you might be hitting yourself for 0 over and over again? do you insta die when you add more thorns dmg? if so, try to use svalinn and add a spell to cast on block, or add the passive tree node "hunker down", which recovers 20 life when you block and see if anything happens. also need the warbringer ascendancy node where you can block all hits
@@xgoldbr you may be right - I was thinking about the 0 dmg hits and maybe I'm actually not hitting myself over and over and crashing, I'm crashing because the icetomb was trying to freeze an enemy, which happened to be myself, from the self dmg ring and didn't know what to do so it crashed. more testing is needed in the 0 dmg case. In the more than 0 dmg case, it's definitely looping from the thorns dmg.

I tried with both uniques (helmet and ring) and the belts, doing between 4-7 and 13-20 and for some reason it's not killing me (I'm only taking the first 300 physical damage hit when my minion dies). When using the Warbringer Turtle Charm passive to block all hits, it only gives you a chance to block and doesn't do anything. What else do you have that could be triggering those multi hits and killing yourself?

Ive been looking at all the gear pieces with thorns damage and was thinking of when someone is going to start and play around with it.
Aside from "We Need To Patch This ASAP" shenanigans like this, probably not until Armor stops being useless.

Nice one, have you thought about rage generation from being hit within that constellation? Could lead to some crazy ragecapping
The (truncated) thorns damage does not trigger rage on melee hit/hit by an enemy.

It think it only rerolls back in zones where you can die but don't die due to infinite Freeze.
i'm fairly certain you can abuse rollbacks like this by undoing your crafts altho I haven't tested it myself yet
