- The new Renault Rafale faces everything from the sensible Volkswagen Tiguan to the sporty Alfa Romeo Tonale, and it offers BMW X4 space for BMW X2 money. This hybrid SUV coupe has plenty going for it, with a bold (yet strangely familiar...) design, high quality interior, and a smart electrified powertrain.
But do they combine to create a new champ of the class, or is the Rafale destined to fall in behind its more established cohorts? Join Sam Sheehan as he flies solo on Renault's most recent international car launch...

Rafale is stunning not sold on the arkana when i went and looked. Think it was has to be the 300bhp 4x4 version clearly the Austral has been not shipping with the 4 control on latest model's. Im guesisng the demand cant be met for production and being reserved at present for the rafale. How they integrated 4 wheel steering including 4WD is very clever
So many of this type of car now and it's beginning to get confusing. Would of said it's the Arkana replacement at first but £38k plus ? Have Renault got customers in the UK that drop that plus on their cars ? Traditionally big French saloons didn't sell no matter how good they were so why would this even if it's a good SUV towards the upper end of the middle market ?
We have to admit it's getting congested in this segment! But this one is at least very nice, especially inside. Would the 300hp version be tempting to you?
@@cinch Of course. 300bhp would be nice. I just wonder where Renault expect to find the customers from ? Even if the styling and interior is nice on this Alpine model would that be enough to tempt buyers away from Audi, BMW or Merc. Then you have lower spec models but there are others options below £38k. Is that where UK Renault customers will head because traditionally the marque is not seen as luxury
38k in the uk isn’t a lot for a new car these days. Some minis are over 40k!
@@ThrottleBody 🤦♂️.... In the real world it is. It's £38k. Sorry but this new price propaganda needs to come to an end now
@@robsmall6466 No…in the real world hardly anybody pays cash for their cars in the UK. So the Otr cash price is irrelevant. It’s all about the monthlies.
