I’ve had mine for 4yrs now and haven’t had any issues with it. It could be the dealership you’re buying them from are shitty! That’s why it has issues.
I had almost all car brands. Ever since i switched to Lexus/Toyota after getting multiple advice’s from mechanics… i will never ever turn to other brands again. Been driving Lexus now for 9 years and had 2 different models. Literally 0 problems with both of them..
Excuse my English I'm French, I broke my engine at 107 000 km , now I'm waiting for a new engine . the problem is that my VELAR Dynamic 240 S is stop for 7 months ... I'm live in South America very wet country, so I hope that the electronic will be good after the engine change. thank for your video. According to me despite all , I don't regret to have this beautiful car I love it , but maybe she doesn't love me 😅
I have a 2019 Velar with 35K miles. Had major issues with it stalling. Replaced a couple of things including new fuel pump which took a long time for them to finally diagnose...almost 25 days...but dealership did pay for rental. The repair was very expensive! Overall cost of annual maintenance is expensive. Difficult to take to anyone other than dealership because RR has so much proprietary materials and computer programs no one else can work on the vehicles...and many simply will not work on them.
You would think Range Rover (or is that Tata) would want the best name in the car industry. I just don't get why they've allowed the Range Rover brand to become so badly associated with theft and reliability when they could have solved these issues relatively easily!!
I too looked at the RRV. I was literally on the forecourt of JLR when I decided not to do more research. So glad I did - Now 2 yrs on I bought a Volvo XC60 Inscription - similar luxury better reliability and dealership customer service. Great peace of mind.
The timing chain issues where solved in 2019 when JLR changed a component part. All post 2019 should be ok. Ive never heard ofbthe gear selector issues. The door handle issue was solved 2020 , but that was to do with the handles getting stuck in freezing weather. Ive never heard of the power steering issue.. surely that would lead to a recall? Im skeptical about the power steering and the gear selector.. ive family in the repair trade and these have never been raised as issues! 🤔
Gear selector was problematic before the facelift. The gear selector pre-2019 is the round drum that comes out of the holder when you turn on the vehicle and then you can rotate it. There were some other issues with the alternator belt - upgrade for the belt in the 2021 came. In principle, pre-facelift and post-facelift models are quite different. However, JLR turbocharged ecofriendly ingenium lineup requires "frequent" oil changes. I say "frequent" with quotations because not too long ago it was completely normal to change the oil every 10 000 km or at least once a year. Sure, synthetic oils have advanced and are better then ever, but the ecological constraints on the internal combustion engines means that the tolerances for errors have become even smaller thus you really really want to take care of all modern engines to make sure you have a reliable daily driver.
I haven't had any of these issues with my 2019 velar but I did have a cracked auxiliary radiator, bluetooth module issue, and fan issues that were covered under warranty. Other than that very seldom infotainment glitches that correct itself by restarting.
Be aware of this car! My velar just get motor damaged after 40'000 km! Without forcing the car in any situation, i heard one day that the motor sounds different. On the board: no fails! Driven to my garage: they didn't find the reason first time. The second time they realise that not all cylinders worked right. They changed the motor for 20k Euro, thank god i had the warranty. Just after the repair, i got rid off this car, so i dont need to drive a car with full of surprises. Beautiful car, but shit engine and software.... stay away from it
By early march 2024 went to my old lad garage, he is a specialist in LR one of the very first to deal with range rovers L322 onwards here in South America and I saw a brand new Velar 3.0 with less than 25.000 km on it , it’s engine block with a small crack from inside out of the piston n2 hole. At first glance seems that the internal shirt of the piston with time expanded faster forcing the external wall of the block over time that fatigue crack appeared. I. The other hand can’t complain of my old faithfuls 300tdi and AJ V8 supercharger on my garage.
Yes.we have just come new velar in india and only after 8 days suddenly cracked front glass without any rison but company says we cant change that glass.this is only pure cheating.wrong.
These problems (indeed the entire narrative) are identical to the problems you highlighted for the Discovery Sport. Is it coincidental or are they simply rehashed to provide content?
I have my velar for almost a year now, and i noticed that the gearbox is very stiff when it shifts between gears, also when the car comes to a full stop suddenly it jerks very hard, even though i make sure that the gearbox oil is full and in a very good condition, i drove another velar and it didn’t have that problem, if someone experienced that before please help.
I've had a problem with my right side blind spot monitor . It starts flashing when switching lanes but nothing is there. JLR service has not been able to fix this issue.
am planning to buy used 2019 Range Rover velar with 82k kms on it and the vehicle has single owner and the listed value is 34000 should I go for that or not, I need advice from a guy who owned velar already Thank you
I had a Range Rover Sport 2016 a few years back, and it was lovely, but it cost me £7,000 in repairs over two years of ownership. I was hoping the Velar might be more reliable. Please, please don’t get one if you can’t afford or aren’t prepared for the repair costs. The costs for Range Rover maintenance are crippling. If you wince at costs with a BMW, Jaguar, or Mercedes where fees might be £1,500 to £2,000, Range Rover fees will be about £5,000. If you’re rich, then go ahead, but these days I laugh at Range Rover drivers because they are idiots. It will cripple you financially unless you’re a porn star or a criminal. I love cars, love the look of RRs and Velars but they are just a massive piece of shit. Have more respect for yourself and stop "looking cool" as you will end up being that guy at the pub going to the toilet when its your round , as your broke beyond belief.
I have same car and rite now facing problem in wheel barring and left upper control arm and still under warrenty and they are declining to fix it under warrenty and they give me reason for wheel barring is water found coz of failure and for control arm , plastic wheel fender rubbing ...is anyone can tell me is that the valid reason ??
I drove a range rover and I can actually agree with this guy. when it is maintenance time, the hit your pocket will be heavy.
So bad quality sold for high prices and no warranty from Range Rover ?

2020 Velar randomly cuts off when stopped. Had it reprogrammed apart of factory recall and still an issue.
Start stop issue ? Or adblue system fault
Its on auto shutoff. Tap the A with the circle around it on the bottom screen. Supposed to save gas

Which motor model was your velar ?
Why don‘t you just name the motor you had??
Probably the 2.0 diesel, known for catastrophic failure
So is it best to purchase a velar . I am looking into purchasing one
If you like the look of it on the back of a truck, please dont buy anything from Range Rover, utter piles of 💩
Love the look of these but these issues seem to common for me. Also scared off by the insurance
We had a suspension problem in 4 years of owning one. Needed to replace suspension that costs 11000 dollars. Its a Sport and not a Velar

If you haven’t noticed they use the same drive train and basically everything almost the same. So most problems are going to be the same.

Have you serviced the gearbox? If not the cheaper option is to service it and if that doesn’t fix it unfortunately you need a new box.
It’s not the second most expensive Range Rover lol. The Range Rover sport and the big Range Rover are more expensive…
