    Find a good mechanic. Only go to the dealership if you absolutely have to. Most of my maintenance is done by my trusted mechanic. Oil change at the dealer is about $250, and with my local mechanic $140 with a loaner car. I love land rovers. Onto my second one now.

      Take it for what it's worth but,
      Remember this: The point is the video is to demonstrate that while the initial cost may seem attractive, those with the financial means to properly maintain the car, whether through DIY methods or dealership services, will encounter fewer issues. Those individuals who choose to skip it or simply don't have the money are more likely to loudly declare openly about the unreliability of a car..

    So glad I went with the GX550 instead. Money aside, the RR sounds like a huge time sink. I value my time far more than money and it sounds like all this back and forth to the dealership would consume that.
    Not worth it.

    It was never about the money for me , loved the looks of my RR and way it drives , but 6 breakdowns, 8 weeks in garage over 18 months ownership was crazy - every time i went to it i just never knew what was gunna break next and stop me getting to work. I still have to stop myself buying another one tho - will the new ones be better etc but still not good reviews.😮

    I completely agree w/you Eddie. ALL cars/makes & model have their issues. What baffles me is how much complaints/rants there are on the web about Euro cars and very little w/others because even the reliable "brands" have their issues. The difference is cost due to the premium and origin of parts manufactured. It's a matter of paying the price of what you chose. This is the vid I had been waiting for as justification if I was to convert from VW group (17 Q7) to JLR (20' F-Pace SVR) - I still ended w/another Audi (20' SQ5). Every vehicle does/will have a general to same or even unique issues. It's the owner(s) responsibility yo whether have it taken care of immediately or hold it off and result to possible furthermore damage and spending. Either way, glad to hear your story on this Eddie and hope for the best on your ownership experience w your Range Rover - stay positive ;)

      That price is reasonable but check underneath for any leakages, ripped cv boots, squeaks, clicking. Turn the wheel from lock to lock when it’s on and listen for any clicks and rattles.
      On a test drive, feel for any wobbles or issues when turning especially full lock turns at low speed.
      Rotors and brakes are not that expensive if you do them yourself. Can probably do all four yourself for about $600-700. I buy my parts on FCP Euro, they are all OEM parts but WAY cheaper than the dealership sells them

    Your first mistake was buying a car from non Range Rover dealer. Not that its going make a difference when it come to Rover reliability. My point is you buy a BMW from BMW dealer, you buy Mercedes from Mercedes dealer so that these dealers qualified tech who knows the particular car in question, generally speaking.
    My question to you is did you buy the car knowing Rover is unrilable? If so, then I can safely say you bought the vehical for one of two reasons; eestetically appealing or for the status of owing a Range Rover. Both of those reason is valid. However, you shouldn't complain about how much it cost to maintain a R.Rover. it's a known fact any luxury vehicles you take it to the dealer will cost you. Your defense for purchasing R.Rover is exception because the vehical is running smooth, and that's OK too, however, not all Rover is equal. I'm talking about over all percentage of Rover owner regarding reliability is staggering compared to other makes. Furthermore, buying a Rover, or any used vehicle for that matter without certified pre-owened vehicle is taking a chance, especially R. Rover.
    Even with warrantee I can't imagine dealing with all the headache of going back and fourth to the dealer. Good luck.

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I knew exactly what I was getting myself into for reliablity… everyone is scared to own them based on rumors. I wanted to see if they are as bad as people make them out to be. I'm honestly happy with how reliable it’s been.
      Btw I don’t buy cars to impress others so the “status” aspect of a Range Rover means very little to me.

    Your airbags won't deflate on your new one if you let is sit for a while. That starts happening well after 10 years being in the weather. Of course a oil change will cost $300+ at the dealership its a luxury car, just like your BMW

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t think airbags are an issue like the older ones, but I noticed the ones sitting at the back of the lot and the other dealer appeared to be lower than the typical access height. They were L494/L405 models.
      I totally agree with you. Any luxury car is going to be expensive if you utilize the dealership for all the maintenance and repair work. Future plans, I will go down the DIY route.

    • @RachelVargaOfficial

      FYI if you have your vehicle in storage for a while and disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery, and if the air bags aren’t raising, use a floor Jack on the Jack points and then it will raise by telling something to the sensor. The passenger point did it for me. I’m a young blonde on my second Range Rover and they’re great just maintain it like a princess and get on repairs asap. Way better than jeeps off roading too.

    Wait a Minet how you can show a old model Range rover and say it is expansive to maintain i really dough this channel, It is purely looks to be paid propaganda against Range rover i have been using the one-year-old range rover now 2023 model, and it is untrue what you said in this channel.

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The point I’m making is that it not as expensive as the rumors suggest. It can be costly if you skip on scheduled service items. Also, like any luxury brand, utilizing the dealer for all your service items will add up. Eventually, I’m going to DIY certain things.
      Your 2023 RR is brand new. I would expect it to be near perfect.

    Great post. I have bought three Land Rovers/Range Rover at stupid low prices because of the depreciation. I do as much of my own maintenance as I can. My son is a very good auto-mechanic and he helps too. I actually enjoy working on them because they are so well engineered, and I'm an NASA engineer - I know. The is how you get to truly own a vehicle, to maintain it, work on it and fix it when it needs fixing.

    I keep 2 black range rovers 1 ea 2016 5.0 supercharged 510hp sport and another HSE 4.6L 375hp. The sticker price original on each was $90,500. the sport was 19,500 and the hse $8000. the Hse suspension went i put in springs 600 parts 600 labor. then the shift solenoid $1650 installed. new tires i got online pre used they we 80 each they mailed me 2 at a time. i saved bundles. my sport the alternator went $500 part included. i did it in my driveway at the condo in fl. the coolant leaks were 2 each thermostat housing assembly. then rear coolant leak for the rear heater core. i did a bypass it was remarkably easy. i put a video up 2 days ago of the repair done in my parkinglot a mobile mechanic friend teaching me. you will have to become a mechanic by default if you own a range rover. im on my 3rd one. i put black rims $1200. my seats are the football leather in the sport. mine is all black tinted dark windows. black paint with the light grey roof they call it a flying roof or whatever. people look at you and treat you like u famous. i love these rovers.

      ya you ideally want to take it places other than the land rover dealer. They make a lot of money on the repairs, and will charge a lot more than an independant shop. You can buy a lot of the parts OEM online for so much cheaper than land rover sells them for. The dealers are always backed up, and their service is just awful from my experience
