I’ve owned a velar since 2019 , I upgraded it to a 72 plate last year , best car I’ve ever owned, and never had any problems with door handles or anything else , and off road they are an amazing bit of kit , absolutely beautiful machines.
I've had my P380 R Dynamic HSE since 2017. Main things i've repaired are the usual brittle coolant pipes (yes even the one under the supercharger) and the air valve in the air suspension compressor. Outside of that its been faultless for 6 years.
Had one from new, 5 1/2 yrs old, 65k miles and still going strong. Narrow enough for single track country lanes, has decent road presence, good for towing, it is a great all round car. Had it regularly serviced and have recently replaced the suspension compressor which broke at the outlet pipe. The doors can get sticky in frozen air, but use the remote start to warm it up before going out on cold days. Nice review Calv 😎👍

And I have got to say driving this car compared to my velar D180 R-Dynamic with an AVR wide body also a 2019 (180bhp) I love this one do not get me wrong but the P550 is just a new ball game Im not sure how I can even describe it if you ever do get a chance to even drive one GO FOR IT! You won’t regret it
80k miles is high mileage? In Portugal that's low mileage for a used car, high mileage is 160k miles. There is a lot of cars with 300k+ miles here. However they are completely rust free and often well maintained.
The average person in the UK thinks a car will fall apart at 100k miles I used to work with someone who said 30k miles is too high😂 although she also doesn't get used cars she always buys low mileage new cars. This being a 18 plate too it is fairly high for a fairly new car.
Door handle stick in freezing condition. Also driver door handle hasn’t retracted a couple of times. LR quote £560 to replace the door handle motor assembly.

Wife had one for over 3 years. D300 hse and it was an amazing car, reliable, looks stunning and loads of great options, remote start was amazing in winter and only ever had the handle freeze a couple of times and was mainly because I had washed it earlier in the day. Only bad thing was this year her insurance went up from £432 to a £1000! Changed it for a 23 cayenne which has less spec despite being newer but does ride smoother despite both being on 22” wheels and air. Oh and the insurance was only £530 odd. Love the cayenne but miss the velar too.
Velar on same platform as F-Pace, Evoque on same platform as E-Pace otherwise spot on mate! S variants were the starting spec on the configurator even so, the lowest spec but can be spec'd up as you can see it became an R-Dynamic, but from low, mid and high offerings you'd have the S, the SE and the HSE to start you off with anything from each category from lighting, wheels, driver packs + add on options that become standard as you go up the range on the starting base price👌
Gtc I brought recently was described as cat s… light near side damage repaired… bumper pokes out about 3mm middle connecting to the wing and but can’t see no damage to the inner wing or strut… did a carvert check before buying and the damage isn’t listed so don’t take it as gospel if no pictures of the damage were taken and posted online then carvert can’t extract them.. Luckily for me the seller was honest and it was about a grand cheaper than other models that all had 1-4 yrs of engine oil leak advisories but mine didn’t but looking at the car it had oil on the sump and luckily it was just 1 solenoid seal seeping…
They look decent but i se way too many broken RangeRovers / Jags / Landys on a daily basis to ever want one, generally pretty rubbish, loads of build quality, Adblue, inlet and Egr problems, at least its not a 2.0L ingenium so catastrophic engine failure is less likely! 😂

I have a HSE 2.5d 2020 version and the spec is amazing.. I’m not interested in kick down power although it’s not slow… I love its presence and ticks all the boxes for me.. has a opening roof, plus everything you have mentioned.. only thing I can’t find is a button to heat the mirrors which I can assume it’s automatic to the temperature but it can be annoying 👍
I had one of these, and its best to buy then in HSE spec, far more equipment as standard. Excellent cars. The one shown isnt that high spec for a Velar
These LR cars do look great but when you feel and drive them against any German brand car…..you know how awful they are. Furthermore all of them are very costly as they fail in so many departments when the 3 yr warranty expires. You get what you pay for….just be prepared to fork out after buying it.
@jamiebray4205 yes I’ve driven the Velar, Sport and SVR and I remain confident in my assessment, especially given my history of owning driver focused cars like the 2001 Lotus Elise all the way to a S Class 2021.
