The Sam Raimi Spider-Man or Spiderman trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the titular superhero are iconic and great movies. But the third film "Spider-man 3" is laughed at my both fans and haters alike. a tragedy meme-filled, hoorendous mess of a movie that you can't help but love. Harry Osborn's over the top nature, Peter Parkers funny dance, J Jonah Jameson's antics, Venom and Sandmans craziness. Everything is awesome, so we watched Spiderman 3 in this reaction video.

This movie is unironically amazing. So many great and hilarious scenes. The birth of sandman, Peter waking up in the black suit, the fight between black suited Spiderman and sandman, cookies with nuts, Peter and Harry's fight in the mansion, and the magnus opus, Evil Peter's dancing.
That dance is iconic.
It's so good.

I appreciate Sam's interpretation of The Symbiote. He was never a Venom fan so it "Emphasizing someone's nature" isn't just in line with the retcons that The 90s Animated Series made to how The Symbiote corrupts the personality, but ALSO in line with how Symbiotes were corrupt but could be purified to improve their host later on before Donny Cates' run.
Instead of having a random butler tell Harry the truth, Peter could've explained everything. But I guess that just makes too much sense.
Well considering how every time Peter tried to explain Harry wouldn’t listen and/or tried stabbing him, the butler is still stupid so in I think the directors cut Harry just forgives Peter on his own

Actually he did tell him, in the middle of their fight but Harry called him a liar. It took his butler to tell him the truth since he was the one who cleaned up Norman's wounds and confirmed his own glider killed him. I guess the only reason he didn't tell Harry was because he assumed Harry didn't know about Norman's villain character.

The movie originally had the butler be part of Harry’s head telling him that Peter was telling the truth and that Harry has been in denial about it
you can tell they had planned to split the cgi work budget evenly between harry-goblin and sandman, until they had to divide the goblin half with venom after avi arad cried and pissed and shitted his pants to get venom into the movie

It's NUTS to me that people are pissing and shitting their pants about wanting Avi Arad out over one bad decision from 17 years ago, as if he hasn't also produced some of the best superhero films.
It’s so funny that in the first Spider-Man movie those goblin grenades turned a whole balcony of people into skeletons but in this one it just slightly inconvenienced Harry. He survived the grenade in the first movie too I guess, maybe he’s just immune to disintegration

Fun fact: Eddie was originally supposed to be LITERALLY consumed by venom; found out after Peter pulled Eddie out of venom, and than venom tried to remerge with Peter until metal bars were yanked down by Peter and they disintegrate venom via too much sound.

Venom got aggressive so much that it ate Eddie's entire flesh and organs and only left nothing but his skeleton. His death end with a skull being pierced by one of the metal pipes.

I think Venom would have turned out way better if instead of Eddie, it was Jameson's son who got the symbiote. He definitely already hates Peter for stealing Mary Jane in the last movie, so that would be a better motivation than Eddue had in this movie.

1. This movie is just plain hillarious, both intentionally and unintentionally.
2. Despite this movie's issues, I think we can all agree that the scene of Sandman literally pulling himself back together for the sake of his daughter was *beautiful*
3. The saddest part is that I have no doubt in my mind that Sam Raimi could have done Venom justice had he not been forced to stuff him into an alredy overstuffed movie.
Peter's dark side *Bully Maguire* going from an egomaniacal dork who thinks he's the hottest thing since sliced bread to a violent sociopath is honestly fitting, as it shows that it takes time for the symbiote to truly start corrupting Peter. In fact the scene at 13:20 was supposed to have a small jumpscare to show what Peter was going to turn into had he kept wearing the suit to really show why he was scared of it.
4. To be fair to this movie, I do like that it kept a consistent theme along with the rest of the trilogy.
The 1st movie was Peter's origin and him internalising the lesson Uncle Ben taught him
The 2nd movie was Peter struggling with the fact that he can't have it all and that him being Spiderman made his personal life *hell* , but that he keeps at it anyway because its just the right thing to do. Its not always easy and requires sacrifices, but its the life Peter chose and his conscience won't let him just walk away
Then in this one, Peter is unironically living his best life. He's finally with MJ, the city loves Spiderman and he feels like he's at the top of the world.
But Peter's own ego causes this carefully stacked deck of cards to fall down.
5. I really do wonder what that theoretical Spiderman 4 would have been tho. Especially with Vulture as the villain.
Totally agree, the Birth of Sandman is probably my favorite part of the movie, tied with the early Peter-Harry fight.

While I think the Venom movies are much worse films, casting Tom Hardy as Eddie wasn't a bad choice, as he better fits his posture and physique.
Unpopular opinion, but I really liked how symbiote looks in Spider Man 3 compared to the Venom films. As scrawny as he looked, I genuinely loved how vicious and terrifying they made Venom, and the way the symbiote moves around is haunting. Like instead of just some sentient black goo, it's a alien that creeps around with its tendrils sticking to your skin like an actual parasite. You can feel how unnatural and otherworldly the symbiote is.
Agreed, I wish that the actor had more time to bulk up for the role so he could use a bigger bodysuit
I respect your opinion on venom in spider man 3 but the venom from his spin off series is more faithful to how he appear in the comics and cartoons

The abrupt entrance of the symbiote meteor is probably due to them not even putting Venom in the movie at first. Sandman was supposed to be the main villain for the entire movie, but the studio wanted to add Venom, which Raimi also knew almost nothing about, and you can definitely see how that went

There were a lot of ideas in the early scripts of the movie that didn’t make it into the final cut but was used in the Spider-Man 3 novelisation.
One of these things was this unnamed doctor character who was a part of Sandman’s story. Flint Marko’s daughter, Penny, was actually had an unknown terminal illness and doesn’t have much time left. Marko was paying the doctor to research the illness to find a cure and resorted to becoming a robber to keep funding the expensive research.
In the scene where he teams up with Venom in the novelisation (which was part of a deleted scene), Marko was playing with his daughter by forming himself into a sand castle. Eddie shows up after Penny leaves and manipulates Marko by preying on his emotions and desperation to save his daughter, convincing him Spider-Man will keep getting in his way and he has to kill him. In the novelisation of the final battle, Sandman was about to kill Spider-Man but his wife, daughter and the doctor show up to stop him and the doctor tells Marko that it’s impossible to save Penny and she’s going to die no matter what, causing Marko to give up and confess that Uncle Ben’s death was an accident like in the original film.
I was actually hoping that they’d actually use Penny dying in Spider-Man No Way Home, maybe have Norman tell Sandman that his goblin serum could save Penny to convince him to side with the villains and maybe have the three Peters create a cure for Penny’s illness along with the other cures for the villains.
Another thing from the novelisation was that Raimi’s version of the Venom Symbiote is actually a parasite that drains and kills its host. In the novel’s version of the final battle, after Venom kills Harry, the Symbiote separates itself from Eddie revealing that Eddie was dead the whole time during the fight and all that was left was his skeleton (as well as revealing that the Symbiote was imitating Eddie’s voice during the fight) and tries to rebond itself to Peter. The Symbiote’s motivation was to make Peter it’s host again because, due to Peter being superhuman, he was able to stay bonded to the Symbiote and not die from the Symbiote parasitically draining him. For comparison, Peter was bonded to the Symbiote for weeks was still healthy and living, while Eddie was bonded to the Symbiote for a few hours was reduced to a skeleton.
I don't care how bad this movie can be at times, I still love it. 😂

The Sam Raimy Spiderman Triology has aged pretty badly if you think of them as serious superhero dramas, theyve aged like fine wine if you think of them as Comedys.
The closest we get to an actual comic book on screen for that very reason

Spider-Man first meets Venom on Klintar, the planet where Knull rules, and the symbiote latches on to Deadpool, who rejects the symbiote because it would make Venom crazy, only problem with that, is, when he latched onto Deadpool, it instantly made Venom insane, and then Spider-Man gets the symbiote, and because of how clingy Deadpool is, and how sad he is, the emotions latched onto Venom, and made Venom OBSESSED with Spider-Man… bad story? I think not

Raimi had good ideas for the movie and I saw the potential but the studio really messed with the writing and directing, raimi just gave up and gave them what they wanted it’s sad idk when studios are gonna realize to listen to the people that actually care about the characters and story
Ursula Ditkovitch is 100% unironically the best woman and romantic partner in this entire series, Peter really did her dirty.
If you remove Venom from this movie it has solid potential as a movie. Peter and Sandman is a nice parallel to Peter and his relationship with Harry. It wouldve been a nice story and then Venom could get his own movie.
How It Should’ve Ended did the “night your father died…” scene a lot more realistically, even if it was meant to be funny parody:
“I loved your father, Harry, as I have loved you.”
“You…are SO fired! You mean to tell me you knew all these years that my father was a psychotic murderer and you wait until now, when I’ve injected a substance into my body to make me evil, destroyed my relationship with my friends and got permanently scarred, to tell me?!?!”
In defense for the actors, writers, and director, nobody wanted to do Venom except for the studio. They forced them to put Venom in, and it was bad. Imagine how the movie would be if they had just Spider-Man vs Sandman
