I always liked Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. Yes, that's a crime, but Andrew really captured the idea of Spider-Man, and I liked how slick his suit is.

Flash is usually depicted as Peter’s bully but in this movie, the dynamic between the 2 seems more of a rivalry than being bullied
I’d say the events of the movie shape flash throughout the film. He definitely starts off as a bully and a gigantic asshat, but between Peter fighting back and Uncle Ben dying Flash gains perspective and grows as a person. He was also probably inspired by Spider-Man
Feel like it would have worked extremely well if this lasted long enough for went venom and Peter and flash becoming friends
It's funny how in all three live action versions of Spider-Man, this is the most accurate Flash Thompson adaptation.
Raimi Flash was a generic bully who was a background character 2/3rds of the time and the MCU version is a complete 180 in comparison to the original jock.
This one started out as a jock but began to sympathize to Peter after Ben's death and became a Spider-Man fan. We saw that ALL in one movie too.
It's because this movie's version of Peter Parker is way too cool so just presenting Flash as his jock bully doesn't work, Peter Parker is supposed to be a massive dork so Flash bullying him makes sense, irl nobody would bully Andrew's version of Peter, he's not bully-able the way comic or Tobey's Peter are, he'd be more likely to be friends with Flash.
At least Tom Holland's version of Flash was changed to an ugly, arrogant nerd to contrast with his version of Peter who is athletic and handsome so his foil had to be someone who would naturally dislike him.

This movie was great
First one is good. The writing is brilliant but lazy. It's good not perfect. It's good writing because it has writers from Harry Potter, Zodiac and Spider Man 2. Also because of Laura Zisken (RIP 1950-2011)

Even if the movie isn’t the best, Andrew is probably the most accurate Spider-Man AND Peter Parker out of the live-action iterations. Peter has a temper and is kind of an asshole until he learns to be more responsible in the comics. Andrew’s Peter is like a perfect blend of 616 and 1610 Peter from the comics.
Tobey was more like Clark Kent, and was even too timid in the suit. Tom has more of Mile’s personality.
Not probably, definitely if we’re going off Lee and Ditkos Peter it becomes no contest Andrews just ripped from the comics. No lie first issue in he says “I’ll see to it that Aunt May and Ben are happy, the rest of the world can hang” and proceeds to use his powers for tv before not stopping a robber and yknow the rest.

@@gasnarft The only reason I can really think of why Sony hired him is cause the first film he ever directed was 500 Days of Summer which was very well received and Spider-Man was his 2nd film so my thought process is that they had him pinned to really nail Peter and Gwen's relationship and make it believable.
This is still my favourite Spiderman live action movie

With all due respect, Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone have great chemistry. I love Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are great, but they have little to no chemistry in their films. Tom Holland & Zendaya weren’t even an on-screen couple on Homecoming, and didn’t have chemistry until No Way Home.

The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable, was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN
It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth
She was the only one that cared, while AVI ARAD only cared about selling toys
Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of TASM1
Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise
Spider-Man was nothing without her

Actually marc webb really wanted to include the lizard. The issue was that avi arad cut half of the scenes that fleshed out dr connors as a character and so he seems way too one dimensional.
Honestly I liked the first one I think people just hated it because the Toby films were not to long ago
Really am glad that ever since No Way Home, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man has now been redeemed to the public eye and people are starting to appreciate his Spider-Man movies more often.

I mean, no teacher or adult was around when everyone was gathered to see Flash torturing that kid or beat up Peter, and they only show up to punish Peter
Usually, a mean-spirited story is the result of lazy writing
And this movie had solid writers

I've always loved this movie growing up, it's my favorite suit, I like that this Spider-Man is really lanky and has some genuine spider-like moves, like putting the Lizard in a web cocoon.
As for Spider-Man 2, I understand why they made the new suit, I felt was too safe of a suit that wasn't trying anything new, but still liked it. And that montage of him in the beginning of the movie ACTUALLY being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man compliments it a lot, would look odd if that montage was in the first suit.

Well Andrew's peter IS accurate and a lot of people even prefer him for that front. He's snarky, a little broody and at the start men spirited until his uncle dies. Spiderman/peter is charming yes, but he's also prone to have a lash out side that Andrew movies did pretty well

I liked it when I was 14 and I like now at 26. Maybe I’m lame who knows but Andrew is my favorite actor to play Spider-Man so maybe that’s it.
I watched this and the sequel in theaters and liked it, I dont dislike Andrew Garfield but to me he looks like someone who would bully Peter Parker. He doesn't really give that nerd vibe that he's supposed to be.
The sequence where Peter saves a kid from a burning car is totally ripped from Batman Beyond.
