What I love most about this game is the Visual Story Telling. No spoken dialogue, and no dialogue boxes or narration. It’s all expressive. It’s always nice seeing this game played, as it’s the first Kirby game I ever played.
Not to mention that the second last stage is a reference to Ramiel, an enemy Angel of Neon Genesis Evangelion, an famous pseudo-mecha show with lots of infamously (dark) moments.

After some time has passed he starts to smell his own blood in his containment liquid as it starts to foul with him being in it too long.
Between the bosses, music, and power combos, this is unquestionably one of the best Kirby Games of all time. If only those Crystal Shards weren’t a pain to track down.
I used to play this game the days I stayed home from school because my anxiety was so bad. It would calm me down. There is something about this game that relaxes the soul.
Some people say 0^2 is an Opham bc in the background there are black ring structures that rotate like the wheels of Ophanim, what your fighting is the spirit within the Opham’s wheels
This might just be the best thing ever rented. The simplicity of this game is genius. I think this game is art as an experience. There hasn't been a kirby game like this they really nailed the movie set-like sense of wonder.
This brings back a lot of memories. Back when we had the 64 my brother rented this game from Blockbuster. It was the first Kirby game I was ever exposed to. I played a little bit, though not as much as he did. My sisters and I would always watch him play and make funny commentaries about what we’d see.

At least one source connected to the developer said that the planet’s inhabitants evacuated before the freeze-over was complete, leaving their cities intact and their machines running. Those automatic factories were left on, spending hundreds of years manufacturing products for a consumer base that no longer exists. Slowly failing maintenance protocols are preserving advanced cities that will never be inhabited again. HR-E/HR-H is following a programming directive that no longer serves any actual purpose. It attacks Kirby in order to protect a population that isn’t there anymore. Nobody alive today has even the slightest knowledge of who or what the planet’s inhabitants were, or what drove them to abandon it and everything they’d built on it.
If it eases your unease, in literally the game before this one Samus from Metroid shows up and you canonically have to engage with her for the true ending, and in Metroid the Earth is definitely still in use. Maybe they evacuated the planet when Dark Matter attacked.
It honestly surprises me how no one has talked about how good the video looks Really clever to cut the HUD and put it on the top left corner, lets you appreciate the game in this high quality resolution more!
This game is a masterpiece side scroller. I'd say it's the best side scroller on the N64, that's for sure. Music is amazing, controls are crisp. Gawd this game is so much fun.
God this game has so many damn familiar sounds that i have heard in nearly 20 years! Brings back memories especially seeing some things i forgot you could do. This is the most nostalgic game from my childhood next to Grand Theft Auto 3
Nintendo 64 was truly the most iconic console. Its roster of games truly defined my childhood. The crystal shards, ocarina of time, star fox, pokemon snap and stadium, super smash bros, Mario 64, yoshi’s story … Best console ever. I wish I could just go back to this. To look back at this console and its games, it makes me feel warm inside. I miss it
the only games in that era who were so oddballs(litterally oddball) that instead following more realism artstyle it was more cartoonish now that this game is old i dont feel it too much
most of realistic games on N64 had aged horribly except two Zelda games because muddy texture and roughly model. Cartoonish style or cel-shading had aged very well and nice visually-looking: Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Mario 64, Banjo Tooei
