I am so, so proud to own a Buell. I love all types of bikes, from loud thumping cruisers to high strung screaming inline 4 superbikes, from dirtbikes to naked hypersports. Buell carved its own category. You don't own a bike, you own a Buell. My Firebolt XB12R is so bad ass, it looks hot from every single angle and has that bad ass, shake-your-teeth-out engine roar!!!
Dude... For real when I read your comment, I feel like I gotta buy one! Sadly here where I live these bikes are quite expensive, and its parts are too. But I'mma go all in for it!
@@RenanBorges96 hey its a year later, and my opinion hasnt changed. Still have it! I got loads of videos of it on my channel, all in high quality. Check it out, youll fall in love
That pass through on the frame/tank is only on an 03-05 model. This was actually Eric Buells plan, until Harley Davidson demanded they make the turbo in house instead of letting Garrett do the job right. In any case its debatable if this was a good setup for an ultra light weight short wheelbase road racing machine, especially for a production model.
It's funny, I was looking at it thinking "that looks like a factory pass through" and forgot all about the original plan to sell them as a turbo model. I had no idea some of the parts for the axed turbo version made it onto the production model! That's incredible. I'm going to get my hands on an XB12 someday in the near future, but I also want a handful of other Buells as well haha
@@jonnymac8925 Mine has it capped over with a welded plug, and they used it for an additional 0.2 gallons of gas, its an 06. You can find them for ultra cheap, even entire engines from wrecked models are like $1500. Everyone seems to think its impossible to find parts, which is fine by me since I can get em cheap that way, but actually there are so many aftermarket custom builders all over the world that its absolutely not the case. They just want more money cause its custom. LOL. For instance Bott Power just raced a 10+ year old XB12 reworked and race customized up Pikes Peak a couple of years ago. And now sells a $4500 kit to expose the engine and make the bike lighter as if thats needed at 415lb, I mean how light do you need it? Basically its just the frame/gas tank elimination kit with a carbon fiber sportster style gas tank, tail piece, and a short tube that replaces the frame exposeing the engine. But that means I can snag an engine, preferably 08-10 model, and use the kit to build a bike minus some Ohlin forks and carbon fiber rims. And everyone loves a unique custom cafe racer, especially when it sounds like a Harley revved up to 7000 rpm on crack. LOL. I just wish all the Sportster guys would stop buying up all the 1.5 inch crankpin Buell crank assembelies for their big bore performance engine builds. LOL.
i read somewhere that the hole in the frame where you have the charge piping pass through was put there by buell in the original design because the xb was designed to be turbocharged from the factory.
thra5herxb12s the air box snorkel yes. but the hole is there because the bike frame was designed with turbo packaging in mind originally. the earlier year xbs have the hole and newer year xbs dont have it. im pretty sure i read this from the dude who actually built this bike on his own build thread. the guy who said it got a direct answer in an email from erik buell himself.
Nice Bike buddy! I wish i had a Buell :( But short question, is this Bike (with Turbo) sth more for stright fast runs? Or is it possible to to use this powerband on very twisty roads?
Great work on the XBs! I have an '09 1125R and I would like to eventually turbocharge it. I know the XB and 1125 series have next to nothing in common, other than buell trademark wheels, fuel storage, and airbox covers, but do you see an 1125 in your garage soon? By the way, how much money do you have in this thing? I love the XBs, and would have gotten one if my 1125 wouldn't have jumped into my garage.
alright. we are gonna turbo my brothers bike so i think we will just flush the tank, drill a hole from bottom to top and then tig a section of pipe into it and then run elbows off or whatever we need. thanks though!
Without an extended swing arm and bigger rear tire it wouldn't do so well. Chain conversion, extended swing arm, 240 slick rear tire, that bike would probably run 8's.
USE A SIX INCH DR MAD THRUST FAN WITH A THROTTLE CURVE MODULE TO YOUR PHONE. USE THE OVERAGES OF AIR TO COOLING THE HEADS 18 LBS PER HOLE 4 POUNDS COOLING
how much would you consider (money wise) it takes for a simple turbo set up for a lightning xb1200 2009? As you did I would do everything I can myself? Congrats on your bike it is awesome.
Thanks! The cost of putting a turbo setup together depends on a lot of things, but lets say you buy quality components and good materials and do ALL the fab work yourself, you might be looking at ~$3k-4k.
do you know if a 2010 buell xb9sx has a hollow spot where it look like caps are welded on to the tank? same location as yours only it is not straight through and we dont want to go cutting or drilling through the tank to find out. thanks in advance
You really can't keep stock internals with any kind of turbo setup. The stock rings are chrome faced and the chrome will easily chip off with the extra abuse. Stock head gaskets won't hold up either. You can do a set of forged pistons, good rings, and Cometic MLS head gaskets and be good for 10-12 psi with proper tuning. It's a small expense in the big picture. Your crank should be fine with 130-140hp but I would't push it much past that.
It's a Stewart Warner Ultra-Shift tach. I changed to an Autometer analog gauge but still have the SW gauge if you are interested in a used one. It's in good shape and has a simple 3 wire hookup.
Hard to say. It has evolved so much over the years and I have done everything myself except the welding. The current design is much different than this version was. Check out my build site listed in the "About" info.
+Josh Koelker but the XB motor is not all that different from a tuber/sportster. Mario is right about it being a tractor. I dont mind that I ride a 200+hp, 456lb tractor;)
and the heavens opened....and god said "let there be torque" and there was
and he made buell and saw it was good!
chris green lmfao so funny dude

Holy shit that sound. Too beautiful for words...
The way that bike looks, it's no joke
that sound of blow off valve and waste gate .... cool!
I am sure it will pull out of the corners like a boss.
damn! this is sweet! I bet that thing will pull your arms out of the sockets on the street! Good job on this one! Niiiice!

Absolutely, was originally supposed to have an option for a turbo, but Harley put the Kabosh on it
No, 2006 and later frames do not have the hole through the frame. They closed the hole to increase fuel capacity in the frame.
wow is all I can say, nice clean build, what a build!!!
That's just plain awesome dude. I wish my buell sounded that mean.
Dude, awesome job! That bike is freakin sweet
When he opened ... oooo my goooood ! ha ha this thing is crazy!!! If I know something like buell exist I wouldn't buy my softail
Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!😎👍
What are you using for fuel management. The bike sounds great. Great job.
that would be absolutely violent to ride

Saving up to do this to my 09...
Awesome!!!!! Very nice work that's really really cool.
That's for the reply. Ur bike is pretty mean. I've never seen a buell make that much power. What is its top speed? I've had mine to 205 MPH.
alright. we are gonna turbo my brothers bike so i think we will just flush the tank, drill a hole from bottom to top and then tig a section of pipe into it and then run elbows off or whatever we need. thanks though!
Are you selling these kits or just build yourself? If selling whats an approx price for an 06 xb12SS to Australia?
A fair bit of turbo lag there but awesome
Does it still have a rubber band drive train?
Can you show the whole set up please?
Without an extended swing arm and bigger rear tire it wouldn't do so well. Chain conversion, extended swing arm, 240 slick rear tire, that bike would probably run 8's.

and were did you tap into the oil pressure and drop it back off?
How much money do you think you have put into this thing? by any chance are you looking into turboing an 1125r? :P
Now that is beast

Darn that's awesome.

It's not open it's attached to tank and adds volume.
what type of water injection set up is that?
que turbo has usado!? lol yo quiero montarlo en la mia
I want to put turbo on mine now
hey mate have you got aftermarket coil packs or are you running the standard ones?
Stock XB coil on this. Its plenty capable
I think I'll leave my Ulysses as it is!
the duct on my 1125r kit goes through the factory scoop location but requires cutting the plastic air box tray hit me up
Do you think a stock 2006 XB12X will handle a turbo, and if so, what's the max safe boost? I'm assuming it has the smaller 1.25 inch crank pin.
You really can't keep stock internals with any kind of turbo setup. The stock rings are chrome faced and the chrome will easily chip off with the extra abuse. Stock head gaskets won't hold up either. Where did you pick up that tach/shift light from?
It's a Stewart Warner Ultra-Shift tach. I changed to an Autometer analog gauge but still have the SW gauge if you are interested in a used one. It's in good shape and has a simple 3 wire hookup.
ezracing900 I would be very interested in the SW gauge
Cool. email me at ezracing900@yahoo.com
All about Torque!
💪💪💪💪
This shit sounds like a race car lol
Is this kit still available
I built this as a one-off turbo setup so no, unless you find someone to make a custom turbo setup just for you.
@ezracing900 I want a turbo kit: do you sell me one?
Stock engine?
I think I am going to turbo my 1125r, but i only have experience on xb's not the 1125r, Any advice?
+mrsuperbuckets Ive been searching for the same thing!
+mrsuperbuckets do it. you will probably be the first. succeed, and you will be a hero among men.
does it ride or only stopped?
Do you have a bike or just troll the Internet???
1:50 Gasket ko, turbo wins
How much was the install?
Hard to say. It has evolved so much over the years and I have done everything myself except the welding. The current design is much different than this version was. Check out my build site listed in the "About" info.
I am going to run this on my surround speakers ha haaa
grandeeeeee greatt beautiful
Check out my website (the address is in the video description) to read and see more on my bike. The latest build is making even more power.
1$t gear .. put the chain thru the sprocket this is belt
holy shit
jesus christ
not for the timid....
Devil:-)
this bike and all Harleys sound like those old Russian tractors. And they weight as well.
Harley = Russian tractor...
hahahahha
this bike is not a harley nor does it use a harley engine like the older tubers. Get your facts straight before you talk shit.
+Josh Koelker but the XB motor is not all that different from a tuber/sportster. Mario is right about it being a tractor. I dont mind that I ride a 200+hp, 456lb tractor;)
Just laugh at them...
I've been saying that for years. I still like 'em all the same
