The XBs don't mind being abused as long as they're warmed up prior to any hard pulls. If you can afford it and source it, get a K&N fitler and a race exhaust, then have the ECM tuned by IDS in the USA. Then you'll get some nice strong pull up in the RPM range. I love Buells cause down low its a torque cruiser and up high in the RPM range she pulls hard (for an air cooled Vtwin). More smiles per mile than my previous GSXR 1000
Unique bikes. The "gas tank" is the air box and the swingarm holds the oil. Helps keep the center of gravity low. Lots of different twists on these bikes. I had the firebolt (until it was stolen - sad day)
@MoTremor I had the firebolt also. Until it was stolen. Cops found it a day later dumped into a ditch. I rerouted my ignition switch under the frame and they couldn't figure out how to start it. Sole my battery and ripped out wires and damaged the frame where they dropped it on a ditch. Sad day
@@jeffwhite543 I'm often forget key in ignition lock ( when stay parking on a shopping mall, and all time when I come back all was ok ( in Russia Buell not interested auto and motorcycle thieves)
Perimeter brake. Allows for a super light weight wheel. Brakes work great. Fuel is in the rame and the oil is in the swingarm on these bikes. They are lil torque monsters. Handle amazing
I put 20k miles in a year and 8 months on an '07xb12r. Average 50mpg. Got totalled by a hit and run driver a few days before my kdfab exhaust was completed. Snapped my left femur. $25k doctor bill with insurance. $40k without. 5 month recovery. I'll get another one day. I would recommend Michelin Road tires that last over 10k miles. The Pirelli Diablos last about 7k miles at the most and cost $500 after installed.
Toevallig heb ik een Buell XB12XT staan en ga ik aankomende week voor een XB12S kijken.. die dingen zijn echt uniek. Hele bijzondere ervaring! En ze worden zeldzamer en duurder, goeie investering.
They’re all over the place where I’m at super cheap. I’m thinking about buying one and putting the hammer 1275 120hp kit in it like I did with my sportster.
Looks like its from outer space & instant torque. Love mine. If you open up the exhaust you get the very American - blap blap blap - i enjoy the looks. Most asked question - what is it? 😆
I remember being young and broke sitting on a brand new one and thinking.....one day. Now that I'm older with a little coin I'm thinking.....not a chance. I would love one but HD reliability and a serious lack of parts means this will have to live in my dreams. If they kept the company going it would be a no brainer.
They are fun bikes. I've had several. Torque monster, handle awesome. Not built for top speed but one of the funnest bikes I've ever owned and I've had over 10 different liter bikes.
Give it ten seconds for what? Within a second oil is pumped thtrewout the whole engine. Waiting longer will do nothing unless you plan on waiting for oil to reach running temp. If that's the case then ten seconds is way to short. It will take 2 mins plus if you want oil warmed up. It would take forever to warm oil at idle
My friend had a XB12 in mid 00's when I had a 600RR. I never liked the Buell's as specially after riding SV650's that were V-twins and performed much better.
Not really, sounds great with a stock exhaust. And look, I love a good exhaust note on a bike, but an important part of why all the good/fun roads here in the Netherlands are being closed to motorcyclists is obnoxiously loud exhausts, and I can't really blame the people pushing for these measures.
It's not the fastest on the straights, it shakes like a Harley under 3500 RPM, and rev limit comes early at 6800... But for some reason it gets under your skin, and in the right hands no one can seem to keep up with you through the twisties. Oh and wheelies are magical, probably due to the high flat torque curve paired with a belt drive under constant tension. Bikes come and go, but mine is not for sale.
Yes, was a drembike when i was young. But when i got it it was such a big disapointment! 😢 The litle fun the bike had ended way too early on the rev counter. Almost like running in to a wall! 😅
