  • In this video, I give you a look at the mundane side of our snowbird boondocking travels. Time to do assorted chores, laundry, flush the tanks and get refilled with fuel, propane, fresh water, etc
    We stop off at a cheap little RV park in Gila Bend, Arizona. It's located on Interstate 8 between Phoenix/Tucson and Yuma.
    I show you around the RV park, dog park, and truck stop. Then explain the benefits of our Passport America discount camping card which gave us 50% at the this Holt's Shell RV park. $11.98 plus tax.
    At the end of the video, Anne gets a turtle!

    Thank you for showing us around the RV park! I could not believe the membership price for a stay...not to mention the free dump station and water. Do you have any other memberships besides Passport America? (You may have mentioned this in earlier videos...I just can not remember.) Hard to beat a $44 card that saved you over $200 in fees! Great video!

      For a few years, we had the Thousand Trails Zone Pass - www.thousandtrails.com/membership-info Saved us quite a bit over the course of a year but we canceled it once we have the off-grid systems installed and needed RV parks less and less. Also, I got bored of the same parks. Here is a review I did - www.loveyourrv.com/thousand-trails-zone-camping-pass/ Cheers! Ray

      Ok thank You I
      Did google the place and found it called them and they do not take reservations it’s first come first serve. They don’t now accept Passport America however the Spaces are under $23.00 with all tax and what ever so that’s still a wonderful buy. I live in California where State Parks with no hooks or Wi-Fi can be $50. With Tax and senior discount. I am going Tuesday to one on the Pacific Ocean at Fort Bragg MacKericker State Beach and Camping
      Thank You

      Also I am watching on my phone so the map was way to small to see. I noticed on Google it’s East off 85 at the 8 not west to Yuma so if you come down HWY 85 turn East on Interstate 8 to Holts Shells truck Stop.😊 Thank You so much

    I purchased a subscription to Passport America via your link the other day. Once I started getting into the specifics, I found many of the RV parks don't accept the discount on weekends. I am still a weekender/Vacationer so my usage of this membership is going to be limited. I will try to use this when on vacations that allow me to be in the RV during the week. Thank you for sharing this with us.

      Many times you can call ahead to the RV parks and they will bend the dates if they aren't busy. It's all at their discretion so they can have the business or not. ;)

    Hey Ray! Great relaxing video as usual and glad to hear excitement in your voice!
    We are about 128 days from full timing if all goes well and our house sells by June of this year. We just purchased a 'new to us' 2016 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS and are so happy with it and the outstanding customer care we've received from Tom Schaefer's Super Store in Shoemakersville PA. Just south of Hamburg.
    Hope to make it out to the West Coast, or at least Arizona, this ti,e next year...we'll see!
    Take care,
    Mark

    Just wondering... I have left a couple of those behind... haha

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      haha, I've left one behind, too. On the depart checklist now. :) That was my regulator I was just borrowing the next door tap as my normal 25' fresh water didn't reach, save grabbing another hose.

    How often do you actually use passport America? I noticed no water regulator, do you not use one anymore? Glad to see you folks are looking well. Thanks for sharing your travels.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I was filling up my freshwater tank using the next door empty campsites water, my hose was too short to reach from mine, the regulator was left on my tap, I don't need it to fill the gravity fed fresh tank, just for the city water input.
      We mostly boondock but we've used Passport America for 11 nights in RV parks this trip so far after over ten weeks on the road and saved 200 bucks over the regular rate. We paid full rate for 6 nights at other RV parks. So we have only stayed in RV parks 17 times so far in 76 days on the road. Frugality is one of the reasons we are still on the road nearing 7 years now. :)

    Do you worry about snakes and your dog when your walking around in the desert?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the time of year. Snake and scorpions don't like cold weather, so they generally are only active once the temps get to be quite hot like above 85F along with warm nighttime temps too for several days in a row. We tend to follow mild temps so avoid encountering them. I've actually seen or heard 0 rattlers and only a couple scorpions in 7 winters coming to the desert.
