  • Update New BLM Rules at Ogilby - • Ogilby Road BLM Califo...
    In this video, I update you on the last few weeks of our southern snowbird trip. I show our free BLM (Bureau of Land Management) campsites at Ogilby Road near Yuma, AZ and across the street from the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.
    I give an overview using Google Earth on the locations and a 360-degree video sweep of where we stayed.
    The last half of the video shows the birdlife of the scenic loop drive at Cibola. One part at sunrise and the other at sunset. Be sure to watch the last part of the video for max bird action. :)

    It costs us a pigs ear every time Ms Stella and I watch one of your videos ... to Stella, all birds are ducks and she ignores the Sandhill cranes in our central FL campground unless she sees them picking at the shiny door handles on the trucks and RV's, then she runs over to see if they are eating any pig ears! Our campground is 100% full now so watching a boondocking video is a great relief. Tuesday Sheila and I head over to the Tampa RV Supershow on Industry day to see all of the latest RV evolutions for 2018. a good chance to dream and plan for our next ideal boondocking machine.

    Ray, before you buy another pair of glasses in Mexico, try Zenni on the Internet. I dropped my glasses that resulted in ruining 90% of the lense... I learned about Zenni.com and replaced them that were pretty much identical - progressive bifocal, titanium frame, and good coated lenses with high index. The local glasses were $520 to replace the lenses. Zenni was under a $100. Thanks for the videos. Enjoy the warm weather.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, other commentators mentioned them, but they don't serve my extreme astigmatism. The online form doesn't go as high as my cylinder correction - 6.75 and - 6.50 Their FAQ states they can fill up to + - 6.0. I've run into it with many low-cost glasses providers.

    Thank you so much for sharing the map orientation for all of the places. It is very helpful. I loved the video section with the geese on the pond and snow geese flying! We used to go watch them at Graylodge in Northern CA. The sites and sounds of the birds are so beautiful! Love to hear them. What were those birds with the yellow breasts? They were pretty too.

    Did you see the old wooden road on the west side of the sand dunes north of I-8? My grand parents drove from San Diego to Yuma on the board road across the dunes to get married in1927. And did you get a chance to check out the Cargo Machado Mts. There are some old gold mines to explore. A friend of mine has a mining claim just before you make the left curve on the way to Blythe. You can camp and explore on any claim you just can’t take any minerals from them.

    Ray when you boondock for that long do you pack up and dump your tanks some where in the middle of your stay or can you last the whole 11 days? If you mentioned that I missed it. Thanks for your reply. Love your videos.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can last 11 days or more if we really conserve water and will consider doing that if we are far away from a dump and love a spot. But for this place we use water fairly freely as the dump and fill is close. We are really proficient at packing up and resetting up after so many years. Takes us about an hour to an hour and one half to be dumped and recharged with water and back and set up again. Cheers! Ray

      Thanks. For Canucks, definitely! For US citizens maybe not as much as I saw a few people in line just show their Drivers Licence or some card like that but to be on the safe side I say get a passport. Then you can come visit Canada. :) haha

      Ray, I have been coast to coast in Canada. Well Moncton, N.B. to Vancouver many times. Mostly business trips but the Canadians really know how to party, and BBQ Steaks..drink Molson, any thing Canadian! I have great respect for our neighbors of the North. Especially after 9/11, all those flights were allowed to land in Canada, all the citizens treated Americans like guests. I will never forget and will always honor that!

      Ogilby was excellent and Cibola was usually good but a little flaky during certain times of the day, usually breakfast and dinner hours. Seems the tower overloaded a bit I guess. We use Verizon and T Mobile. I didn't need to use my booster, good signal strength.

    Ray, being so close to the border, have you seen any illegals or drug traffic in the area? I would worry about being out there, especially at night! Just curious!

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, it's not as dangerous as some make out. There are lots of border guards and surveillance going on. There are literally thousands of RVers camped in the southern desert near the border in the winter and extremely few incidents. The last thing most traffickers or illegals want is to come near some RVer. They want to evade detection. Plus most of the US RVers are packing. ;)
      Usually from what I heard the only time they come near RVers is because they are dying and need food and water.
