    Skyler you nailed it with the Service issue. at 13:35 in. The service center is not like a Dealership where there is this dedicated large area with experienced mechanics working only on non-new vehicle problems. It is all about getting new vehicles out the door by making sure they are ready to go out the door from the factory. I did not see that many people working in the service area that day either so maybe an understaffed service center in Minneapolis. The person who serviced my vehicle for wind noise was like a loaner service person from Austin TX.

    Rivian hired me as a Electric Truck Technician. Any starting point before I start in 2 weeks.
    I use to be a maintenance mechanic in the Army for 8 years….lol, 8 years ago. I went the warehouse, driving job route. I was a Instacart Shopper the past 3 years. I own an Electric Nissan Leaf and love it. The mileage is horrible but It helps me stay better prepared and make reasonable, logical, and better decisions.
    I watch this 3hr video of the theory behind Electrical Cars.
    I’m grateful and thankful for this opportunity. I’m a student in life and willing to do what I need to do to show Rivian that if they give me a chance to learn, I’m willing to repair with confidence and brings no excuses.

    I've had 2 service calls driving to the Bellevue WA SC and 1 mobile service. My observations are pretty much the same. And in spite of the inconvenience of driving 100 mi o/w to the SC (mobile service was awesome) all the staff I've dealt with have been great.

    just to add to Skyler's points at the end - I've had a great service experience here in Denver. The people are friendly, knowledgable and very accommodating. I had a major repair over the last couple of weeks (video on the way) and it was done in two weeks. I've heard of other brands that would take a month or two to fix a similar issue. So, for me, it's all good. thx for the vid.

      Scott this is great to hear our Denver SC has been fantastic-I’ve “gleaned” that other SC’s, esp in the PNW are overwhelmed. Looking forward to seeing your “major repair” video only a year in, what that would have cost out-of-warranty, and if that would affect your decision to own it out-of-warranty.

    I an with Skyler’s point of the CS doing heavy lifting for final inspections and deliveries and that load needs to be lightened. The Quality Assurance and/or Inspectors need to have the units coming from Normal and place on transport trucks at 100% and then CS’s do a sanity check is all. For instance those air tips should not have been recessed leaving the factory.

    • @shivampatel5802
      @shivampatel5802 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely agree , I took delivery today and was surprised to find things that was easy to identify by just listening or looking at the car . Fir instance my drivers side door makers noises opening and closing thru the entire motion . That should never leave the factory like that .

  • @DavidLeee
    @DavidLeee ปีที่แล้ว +2

    in the PNW the wait times are 4-5 months out unless your vehicle is bricked. its crazy how poorly the SC was thought out here. based on RS order tracker, we are the 3rd most popular area for R1 orders and the have a 10,000 sqft center which services EDVs and R1s.... way too small. Rivian is supposed to to be leasing a 100,000 sqft warehouse near downtown Seattle last year (which tells you how small the current space is) and another location about 3-4 miles from the current one to expand. No idea when those will be ready and why that 3rd location is so close to the current location.

    Because we are 200 miles from the nearest service Rivian schedules as many as possible for the tech to do in the area.The last time there were 6 visits. Because we live 15 miles from town, I try to meet the service tech somewhere in a parking lot so he doesn't have to spend an hour round tripping just to my place. I'm looking forward to summer road tripping when the weather is nicer.

    Just took delivery of my R1S today . Had to put in 9 items fir service . I don’t understand how the car makes it past quality control at normal and then again at the service center . I think they really need to do a better job at catching stuff you can hear or see . I think they must have tested my car in the snow in normal , I received it in California with salt crystals on it.

    Ok, so I need to add my 2 cents on the good, bad and ugly. First let me preface that I am hopelessly a half glass full kind of guy.
    Let me start off with the ugly.
    1. Not enough service centers. I live in the Catskill mountains upstate NY and the only service center in a state that is freakin enormous, not only in land mass, but in population! The only single service center in the entire state is in Brooklyn NY! I don’t know if any of you have driven to Brooklyn, but it is a nightmare! It’s also a 2 hour drive in some of the worst traffic jams you would never want to experience.
    I know eventually , hopefully , more service areas will open up to Rivian customers who live north and west of the city.
    Also, as you can imagine, with Brooklyn being their only service center in New York State, they are so busy not only repairing vehicles, but prepping and delivering them too.
    Now for the Bad
    1. When your vehicle is in for service, and you need to call the service center where the vehicle is located, you must call the general service center. You are not given a direct number to call so you can speak with the service manager. You only can ask your service advisor In Illinois to try and patch you through. I must say I can get through to the shop, but it is hit or miss depending on if someone picks up the phone at the shop. My suggestion is to set up a text number directly to the shop so you can find out about your vehicle.
    The Good;
    There is so much good about Rivian Service!
    1. The staff is incredible. I haven’t talked to anyone at Rivian, either at the main Service Center or at the repair center who didn’t make you feel like your concerns were not important. Everyone I have talked to always bent over backwards to make sure a my concerns were addressed. I never felt rushed or made me feel that even my smallest concern wasn’t important. Great customer service. Much appreciated.
    2. Work done on my R1T has been quality work. It may take a little longer, but when they say the issue is fixed, it’s fixed!
    3. Here in NY the approved independence body shops that Rivian uses (yes I had a fender bender) worked closely together to accelerate the repair process. Rivian gets parts to the body shop quickly, and the communication between Rivian Service and the body shop is seemless. The body shop and Rivian worked together knowing how far away I lived took care of all the details of transporting my R1T from one shop to the other so that I didn’t need to travel back to Brooklyn to deliver it myself. Again, great customer service treating me like a person and not just a number.
    4. As everyone else has commented, remote field service calls are too good to be true.
    So, I have a very positive view of Rivian Service and I think the Bad and Ugly will improve to good as time goes by. S[OO]N

    In ugly column I have to say my gear guard captured a driver delivering Rivian at the service center in Brooklyn, taking out his member and urinating next to my r1s. Not what I expected to see when looking at the videos before deleting. It’s not a big deal but definitely should at least let their own team know that these cars do record you…

      All things in life are relative. I just remember all the times I got screwed or lied to by dealerships. Those painful memories allow me to accept most Rivian disappointments as just early adopter tax. While not directly service oriented, the RANs are simply wonderful on the West Coast. Wish all R1T/S owners could experience them now.
