As a kid a got the chance to see them on the Ed Sullivan show, which on the east coast where I lived aired on Sunday nights at 8:00pm. How fortunate to still have these guys around making great music, and rekindling great old memories for those of us that loved them in the mid 1960's and we still do today. We saw The Rascals at Mohegan Sun last Friday night. The original four rocked out for 2 hours to the blue eyed soul sounds of the 60's. In the middle of the British invasion they survived with their Groovin', Good Lovin', I've been lonely too long and many others that brought us back to our youth for a while. "How can I be sure" fit the moment perfectly. I sent the 45 rpm record to my then girlfriend. Now she has been my wife for the last 42 years. Thank you Rascals!!!!

And the guitar solo by Jerry Riggs is blistering...jazzy, soulful and tinged with harder edge at the same time. This is a masterclass in how the greats do it!

I know listening to music can bring back good and bad feelings and thank god we have our own opinions of the “good old days”.

I actually heard Felix/Rascals ..in July 19 2019.. he played at the Ocean Grove Auditorium in Ocean Grove NJ.. it was my 60th B Day treat to myself.. I would have to say.. I obtained my Rascals Greatest Hits CD from my late sister.. she passed in 2008.. whenever.. I play this CD it brings back all of the 'sister memories' of her and with her.. she was the 1st person who took me to Ocean Grove NJ.. a wonderful small.. no fuss.. Jersey shore town.. which sadly was the weekend prior to 911.. Sept 2001. So I felt this was her way of saying Happy Birthday..to me..

I remember back in ‘67 or so, my brother-in law telling me one day that he got into an altercation w/ one of the Young Rascals here in NYC. His name was Felix something he said. It turned out to be Felix Cavaliere. That’s how out of curiosity I started listening to his group & im glad I did.
I thought what I experienced 50 years ago in Hawaii with The Young Rascals was "just my imagination." Hearing Felix Cavalieri sing Groovin' makes my outlook better (despite covid-19).

My best friend and I cut school in 1967 to go to the San Francisco Airport to see the Young Rascals fly in. Not surprising - Felix gets more awesome with time.
It was 1966, I was 8 and my older cousin Rick who was 16 took me along to hang with his friends at a water canal to go swimming. I was so honored to be with the older kids. When this song played over the radio Rick yelled out "Turn it up, that's my favorite song". It would be mine as well. Good times.

I have this song downloaded to my iPhone and I listen to it everywhere I go. Love the song it makes me feel that I am grooving on a Sunday afternoon in a park! Love songs like this one it transports me to nicer times where everyone was happy and got along. Didn't realize at first but the band backing up Felix is Orleans. Lance Hoppen on bass and the late great Orleans lead vocalist Larry Hoppen on keys in the background. Felix still sounds great. His appreciation and love of R&B music is appreciated!

It was 1966, I was 8 and my older cousin Rick who was 16 took me along to hang with his friends at a water canal to go swimming. I was so honored to be with the older kids. When this song played over the radio Rick yelled out "Turn it up, that's my favorite song". It would be mine as well. Good times.
First time I ever heard this song, I was in the EM club in Pearl Harbor. We had just flown in to pick up a carrier headed for Viet Nam. Fabulous - what a great 4 days!

Didn't realize at first but the band backing up Felix is Orleans. Lance Hoppen on bass and the late great Orleans lead vocalist Larry Hoppen on keys in the background. Felix still sounds great. His appreciation and love of R&B music is appreciated!
