When you think about a super band, we’ll …… there you have it, it doesn’t comes any better.
I am here as a 53 yr old black woman whose mom loved this song when I was 6 and also loves Mike McDonald and Steely Dan
Their music is ageless and colorless. It's just darn good music that never gets old. And always sounds better the louder it is played...
Your Mom has great taste in music and so do you !!
Me too!!
Hun, it's great stuff and I'm here with you.
God Bless you & your mom❤❤❤
This might be the chillest song ever written. Boz is super swagger.
Sure does.
If you dislike this...we probably wouldn't get along.
lol nice 1 i agree
Yup
Agree!
We can be besties. LOL
Lol similar to not liking dogs.
Here we are a couple of weeks away from 2025 and it could be 1975 listening to this legend. So thankful for living my best life with incredible memories of music from the likes of Boz Scaggs and his amazing musicians and singers.
Happy New Year. Yes we were the lucky ones.

When I first heard Bozz Scaggs I thought he was a black gentleman like myself, men like him, Michael McDonald and Bobby Caldwell, Hall& Oats ,Jon B, Average white band, KC and the sunshine band, Simply Red, had me fooled growing up , I really appreciate their every fiber of music and inner soul they put into there music and preferably there classics. These are Men of Soul.
Doesn't matter what colour they are! If its soulful its soulful! I could listen to Lydia Pense belting out "Im a good woman" followed by Otis Blackwell growling on "its all over me" I don't care what colour they are- People are people and some are very talented!
Me growing up black trust me it definitely didnt matter about color, they played these guys on predominantly black radio stations when I was growing up, when I grew up listening to them and heard them there sound had transcended me to great moments in my life, there soul and sound is one of kind.
Me too, also Alex Ligertwood, also another great singer from Glasgow Scotland, sang with Santana for a few years.
@@oldskooljunky1 thank you Bob, also love Steeleye Dan and guitarist Larry Carlton, love the blues greats like BB King etc but my favourite guitarist overall is Carlos Santana, first saw him in 1977, plus of course the king Elvis. Had my dream trip last year at the age of 58, Gracelands, other places in Memphis Sun Studios, the civils rights museum, Stax Music, then Memphis, hired a car and booked motels and hotels as I went along, plus went to Nashville, I cant explain the thrill I got just driving done the highway, not sure of your age but used to love the cop show Chips plus of course Starsky and Hutch. Sorry went on a bit Bob, anyway greetings from Essex in England.
@@colinpadley1897 I agree. I vacationed to Memphis in 2005, and enjoyed it as well as i have enjoyed any place I've gone in my life. Stax, Civil Rights Museum and Graceland____wow!
I just turned 73 years old and while listening to this nugget it became apparent how much magnificent music we have enjoyed over the years.A big tip of the hat to all the performers.
Right up there with You? Blessed to be 73! AMEN !
We're lucky to have grown in the 60s_70s. DHS Ca class of 71 radio jock beginning in 69.
Amen brother
Boz was unbelievable
Thank you for the music 🎶 🎶
I’m reading about you guys putting down this drummer and comparing him to Jeff Porcaro (May he Rest In Peace). You guys are nuts. Open your ears. This cat is playing his a- - off. It’s stupid to compare him. He brings his thing to the gig and he plays beautifully. If you couldn’t see him playing you probably wouldn’t even think of Jeff. Give the man the credit he deserves. He did a wonderful job on this performance.
Bravo
Good for you, tipofelice.
Shannon Forrest is a great drummer. Jeff would have loved him.
Jeff was awesome, if I could drum like that guy playing on that I'd be very happy ha ha
great drummer!
Bass player and drummer...."We got this!"
Could anyone transport me back to this time ?....I will behave , I promise
sorry, no behaving allowed.
Made me cry dont know why. Maybe its been so long ago. But still works and maybe their is a way. Much love from Germany.
Blue eyed soul at its best.
I would go back to this time in a heartbeat! No regrets!!! Bring back this good music!!!! ✌️🌈 ☮️
So will I!
Real music, love Boz Skaggs, and the best of the best musicians and singers were used, real talent putting his collaboration together. I listen to music every single day, my life is heavily infuenced by music. I have joy and I am grateful to have lived through a generation or two, some of the 3rd generation that produced such joy and happiness on my part.I know next to little, music of the present generation, every now and then a riff will catch my ear, not very often. I hope the younger people feel this way about their generational music to love as they journey through life.
You know when it's real you can feel it in your soul! 🍺😎👍
Thank you so much for your inspirational talk. Really helps me stay Positive

I stuck my ear buds in my 13 year old son's ears and pressed "play" . . .his eyes got real wide and he listened to the whole song. Reminds me of the first time i fed him a bite of steak, he had the same look, smiled and has never been the same.
Brilliant move.... this music needs to be shown to all...
A true carnivore as well. The apple of my eyes..
Absolute the best super group of all time but only those in the know..

GOTTA LOVE IT...

Great way to make the kid. Hats off.
You are good parent. Teach these children what real music is.
Hats off to the drummer. The main character from beginning to end. Loving his energy. Mr. Shannon Forrest.
Not forgetting that fine guitarist, mate.
@@wotizit2937 Nor that simple but iconic bass line.
I know Shannon, he's a very good drummer.
they always are IMO
Definitely a great drummer ❤️
Kids today will never understand what they missed back in the 70s and 80s! Great music, great dance clubs, great live concerts, great cars and for me great women!!😊
For all that, but a man that actually respected a woman. Good music, good fun, good safety, ect... those days are long gone.
We are all ignorant most educated fools on the planet.. you included!!
Simple Respect of Others..Everywhere Everyone..
They know. All my kids listen to 60s, 70s music.
My kids heard all my music when they were young and now have a love for it and actually listen to it
🎉❤couldn't get enough of this funky groove in 1976 i was just 10 years old but i always knew this song every time it was played on the radio
That's right!! We must be the same age....in 1976 I was 10 and I remember hearing this all the time....
I'm almost 70 years old, and I still love the beat of the drums and the sound of the entire group, Boz at his best.
I just turned 77 yesterday and keep coming back to listen to this outstanding version of Bozz killing it,,, still rockin it. Still listening and diggin it...
76 and also loving it...glad to see I'm not alone.
71 today, still fine music.
I'm right there with you at 68! Loved music my whole life!!! Love to you ❤
All you youngins! Back at cha next year!!
👍🤩💝OMG Boz Scaggs just turned 80 years old (DOB June 8, 1944)
🎉Happy Birthday Sir🎉
Still Rock's and he's not slowing down anytime soon 😊
I have never heard a performance so close to the studio cut. That’s perfection.
thought so too. it was perfect. bluesy, jazzy, breezy and smooth as silk.
Boz hadnt lost a thing. very impressed.
I was thinking the same thing. PERFECT! (if not even better) and, 3:32 - - nice
Talented musicians
Most musicians are perfectionist.
I came here solely looking for this comment. I’ve never listened to Boz live, and did NOT expect this. My jaw literally dropped when he started signing. Sounds JUST like the recording. Un-freaking-believeable stuff.
Please bring the REAL MUSIC back!!!!!!!
You mean like this I hope
I'm sure you're referring to this LIVE PLAY!!! Great musicians, couldn't ask for more ❤❤
Im trying .
Boz still has that voice, no overplaying just letting the songs breathe. All playing for the band . .Masterful
Hard to beat Silk Degrees...still plays
Makes me want some weed!
I love this cat.
You better believe it and Donald sounds incredible!
Always my favorite! Love Boz ! This and of course “ Love luck what you’ve done to me”. He’s at top of my list of all time favorites!
His talent is unsurpassed! Love the “Boz Man” ❤❤❤❤😊
Crying my eyes out here. Could be the whiskey. Could be the top quality musicianship. Could be Boz's amazing voice (loved the bass player's smile when Boz started to sing). Just walked my gorgeous springer spaniel up on the golf course here in South Wales. Feel so blessed right now despite all the crap in the world. Who says music has no power.
Agreed ... A seriously classy dude
Boz is the Man!!!! Music is the power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let it out Brother. Good music, good times.
That bass player would be "Ready" Freddy Washington, bass player to the stars (Steely Dan, etc.). Just saw him last night with Ray Parker, Jr.
Thank God for great music 🎶 and great memories
This children is called music and singing, performed by true artists of their craft, watch listen and inwardly digest - you might learn something.

A wonderful song , and band ! Smooth , Soulful , the Best ! Here in 2024 - as great as in the 1970’s ! Thank you all , and Boss Scaggs
@@paulamontana9970 Paula.. do you know how to dance..is now the question at hand

This song is still one of the smoothest grooves ever, even after all these years. And, man! that horn was a nice touch.
Tight tight tight instrumentation! The drums and Herington's guitar licks, that flute, and Freddie Washington's bass, d-d-duh. All so Boz can mess around with his amazing falsetto.
Definitely
Definitely
Pretty much every generation has heard or knows this song.
My kids know it because of it playing on classic rock when they were growing up and they are in their late 20’s.
Most kids might hear some of these old songs
that they use on
commercials and think it was made for the ad and not an old song they haven’t a clue!
@@2Niche4U Really? Well, it still sounds great.
66 years old. Love all these guys. Great music for decades. Still have it. ❤
Oh my god 59 years of age and this tune gets better . What a great arrangement. Thank you Boss Scaggs for your funky music
3:28 Alan Shearer on a Trumpet....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excuse my ignorance but who is Boss Scaggs ?
William "Boz" Scaggs
American guitarist and singer/songwriter
Former member of the Steve Miller band.
Went solo and had a string of hits from the mid 70a into the 80s.
Excellent performer live on stage.
This song "Lodown" from 1976 is one of his biggest hits.
I'm 65 and still recall this in the twilight years of my youth!

PURE CLASS, WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC…. STILL SOUNDS GREAT….
I was a teenager when this song 🎶 was sounding openly on the radio. I mean late in the 70s.
@@MrChinchilla_hn about 13 for me. Nobody will ever convince me the 70s weren't the greatest music decade.
I was just playing some Steely Dan , and a commentator used the same word ..this music indeed echoes CLASS...
Uffff its great, great.....and more in LIVE....WONDERFUL
Amen Alan. Was the greatest musical period
Boz Scaggs....very, very underrated - here in the UK lowdown was a huge club hit. This performance is a masterclass, a breath of fresh air........
The best of old schoolers laying down their licks!
The best of old schoolers laying down their licks!
underrated by whom ,surely the most over used term ever to be found on youtube posts , i laugh when i see it used in comments ,not underrated by me .
Boz and Steve Miller busked around Europe together. Boz and I lived in the same SFO neighborhood in the late 70s. When Silk Degrees was released, I put it in HEAVY rotation. "#Loan Me A Dime" is still a favorite. See Dukes of September Boz, Michael McDonald and a piano man from Steely Dan. TH-cam has a great concert.
You had to move fast in SFO to get tickets. He opened his own venue, SLIM'S.
Boz Scaggs is the coolest white guy around. Sound is perfection and his voice in phenomenal. Thanks ❤
👍🤩💝Yes! Mommy said “him and Bobby Caldwell” 🤩💝
He was great friends with Duane Allman
Magic. 76 years old and still loving it. Real musicians that could show a thing or two to some of the modern trash.
The modern trashers will have to learn what real music is. It will be difficult for them
Ha-ha-ha…. I can relate!!!!! ♥️
When Boz Scaggs started to sing, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, just wonderful to hear this track again performed so brilliantly by all the musicians, will be playing it loads from now on.
You Tube just offered me this is week ago. In the nick of time. So unspeakably above and beyond perfect. Makes quarantine bearable!
" When Boz Scaggs started to sing ....." exactly the same sensation
He sounds better than before.
@@perrytsiokas3419 its amazing. He hasnt lost a thing in over 40 years!! And I love Fagen, but the comparison isnt kind.

Just incredible. Beautiful.
Real music. Real musicians. Professionals. Boz sounds great.
This is the way it should be.
Yes and Amen 🙏💖😇🇿🇲
Boz was the first white artist to hit #1 on the R&B charts as well as win the Grammy for R&B.
The music of my adolescence is probably the best era of music ever, when I revisit these classics I am reminded of what smoothness and groove are all about, this art is lost on the new generation, I spent most of my life performing as a singer and musician and later as a club and touring DJ, now at 53 years of age, sitting back today listening to this concert brings me full circle in my musical journey and opens my eyes even more to musicianship and the magic of a bunch of guys behind their instruments presenting their soul to the listeners and fans.
Music is everything.
Shannon Forrest is a MONSTER drummer. He has played on so many No1 records across so many musical genre's, it is incredible.
That's why he was TOTO'S drummer for years
Keeping Jeff Porcaro's legacy

Shannon Forrest absolutely slaying it here on the drums. Understated, but so in the groove, it's amazing.
+talktomeaboutlife slaying it ! yep
+talktomeaboutlife Totally agree. Sweet.
He won 2016 ACMA Drummer of the year. He's played on more #1 songs than any drummer in Country Music History. He is nicknamed "The Hitmaker"
He's an awesome drummer!
He's good but I think Jeff Porcaro did it better.
To the people crapping on the drummer. If he couldn’t play he wouldn’t be on that stage, period. He’s on stage with three major artists. He’s not there because he sucks.
He’s not great.
Good golly, the years haven't laid a glove on Boz Scaggs' voice!
Agreed! Nor has it hurt Michael McDonald's nor Donald Fagen's voice either!
@@charliehecht8401 I have to disagree with you about Donald Fagen but everyone else sounds great still

Number one.. This caliber of musicians wouldn't have anything but a very good drummer!
OMG! This tune was cool when I first heard it in 1977 as a 17-year-old, and it is SUPER COOL still in 2022! Still love Boz😊
Great tune 👍

It's still cool in 2023 ✌️
Shannon Forrest KILLING it on drums!
I had dinner at Boz Scaggs house in San Francisco 1985 with 8 others . He was cooking chicken. I looked at a family album and discovered he has a twin !!! I asked him and he confirmed 😄. Boz is a real down to earth person. Very warm.

One of the best live recordings I've ever heard. Bravo to everyone involved.
I’ll bet that’s due to Donald Fagen’s notoriously high standards. That man doesn’t slack on anything live or studio
You maybe need to hear Incognito version
Thank you Donald Fagen, Boz, Michael and on and on to the hundreds of fantastic artists from the 70's and 80's who really knew how to make music! It will be with us till the end of time.

Not all of them Craig, just the exceptional ones like Boz. The comparison to fine wine is spot on!
True, Craig
That's what I'm talkin' about. This is the great Boz!
I WAS AT THIS CONCERT WITH MY WIFE AND SKAGGS WAS AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME THAT NIGHT.
Amazing performance. Boz 👍🏼 Fagen is getting down 👍🏼 Much respect to McDonald, he doesn't need to hog the limelight, but you can hear him singing backing vox. All the musicians are great. 👍🏼

Amazing drummer and bass player, they both have a built in metronome! And of course Boz's vocals as smooth as ever!
Agree 100% !!! On bass Mr. "READY" Freddie Washington and drums Mr. Shannon Forrest. These two cats along most of the members of this performance have been on more recordings than you probably realized. And number one recordings at that. Super performance by all!

There is a reason that Shannon was chosen to play with Toto after Porcaro died.
Shannon Forest is a great drummer. Nobody can ever fill Jeff Porcaro's shoes, but this guy isn't trying to: he is clearly a beast in his own right and he deserves every respect.
Shannon Forrest KILLING it on the drums! Sooo groovy!!
