Something I'm noticing as I'm watching this video is that the jokes don't feel as forced anymore. They are quick and don't drag on as much. If this is the direction jokes will take in future videos, I'm all for it. Keep up the good work.

This is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the Smash Ultimate video. It's a really good compromise between the old style and integrating some on camera humor that doesn't feel over the top and forced.
Great job on this one. Glad to see you took the criticism into consideration, but not regressing and still taking the content in the direction you wanted.
Also, I like how you left some cheese nips in the background. Not everyone is able to have a sense of humor about doing something that didn't really work.

I think the “don’t make players want to quit half way” goal of the development team was pretty successful! When I was 4/5, I had no attention span or smarts when it came to video games. Super Mario Galaxy was one of the few games I was able to complete and stuck with to the end.

I still had the same quitting halfway through problem I have with all the Mario games, but somewhat for a different reason, usually it just got way too frustrating past a certain point but Galaxy only got a bit more frustrating and I just moved onto a different game. I have ADHD and tend to hyper focus on a specific game for a while, and Galaxy was no exception, and that hyper focus just ran out rather than giving up from frustration and then moving into something else.

The "keep going and finish the game" mindset they had for Galaxy definitely worked. I finished it in 3 days when I got to play it again on the Switch. (I hadn't brought my wii with me when I moved countries)

This is an AWESOME video. Live action, but no forced/out of place humour. The jokes just fit perfectly in.
BTW, the early sound effect for Mario burning is from Mario 64, just sped up.

16:46: fun fact the low poly version of this planet in the final game seen from far distances looks like the early build version. I found this by doing the megaleg gravity pull skip thingy glitch and when you pass somewhere around the knee of megaleg it changes to it. I could only see this when performing the exploit

This video just shows you how much Nintendo really cares about their games and puts a TON of consideration in EVERY single detail before release. Even AFTER the first showcase, many many changes were done to fully perfect this masterpiece.

@@matchimeow2859 But Starfox 2 was an actual game. Mario 128 was just a tech demo, and frankly it probably never was anything but a tech demo internally. They just kept working on the tech aspect of it until they saw, "Hey, this tech can be used in something" and that's when they made Super Mario Galaxy.

Japanese is my second language, so I will weigh in on this.
Regarding the unused enemy torimochi / 取り持ち
取り持ち in Japanese literally means to take possession of something.
tori 取り can actually mean either Bird 鳥 or take / acquire, but in this context, it means to take or acquire in some way given the function of the enemy.
持ち means to hold in some way.
If the function of the enemy is to take coins in some way, I can see my idea.
However, on second thought, this looks nothing like a bird but the material of the creature does seem slime-like given the unofficial name "Birdlime" which may come from mochi itself, a Japanese food.
I'm not sure what it is, maybe it was a bird originally or just a place-holder name or some unknown origin, but there are two meanings for this enemy and it could be either.
Just wanted to give my insight.
Maybe Torimochi would have behaved similarly to a Like Like in some way. Maybe they were a stationary "hazard" type enemy that would trap Mario and drain either coins or star bits until he gets spat out or breaks free through jump-mashing or spinning. I can see Torimochi gunning for star bits, like a land-based counterpart to the whale enemy that has a "penchant for coins".
You improved everything! You made the video super informational while not being boring and also mixed in scenes with you directly talking to the camera! I loved the cheese nips in the corner and Scotts inclusion in the video too

Fun Fact: The planet that appears when you’re going down the Megaleg path (the one that looks more “organic” than it did in the final game) actually reappears in the game in two places.
1) One of the planets in the tutorial level.
2) Can be seen from on top of Megaleg in place of the new planet.
That is harder to believe than thinking Super Mario Galaxy 3 was a real thing.

I have watched this video many times. it's just so amazing, along with the other videos.
Ahh I remember back in 2006-07, that Wii E3 trailer was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. I remember looking at all the footage of Galaxy I could find and I knew the demo so well that I recognized all the changes when I got the final game. I was only 10 though, so I didn't really understand the concept of a demo VS final game, so I didn't get why it was different from the final build. Good times.
The fire damage sound effect sounds very similar to that of Super Mario 64, but still a little bit different.

The sound for Mario getting burned is used in Mario 64 DS when Mario gets burned, and additionally is used in some of the Mario 64 DS mini games.
That burning sound effect is from Mario 64 - although I can't tell whether it was the ds version or the original
It must be from the DS one, since I've never heard it before and I've played the original (unless I'm just remembering wrong.)

40:00 The bathtub planet sounds like it might have to do with the mario sunshine bathtub final boss fight! Would make sense why the water hurts you.

Maybe some kind of rotating platform would be spun around by this enermy and you'd have to kill the enermy, then move the platform into position to be able to get Mario across.
