How do you do that

It was easy to do.

You gotta jump into the challenge, then right before it teleports you, you press menu, then exit to main menu. And if the menu opens then closes automatically you did it right. If you need to continue in the menu, then you did it wrong. Once the menu closes, you should be in the challenge, then you just exit you'll be taken to the backrooms- the training room.
