    Hi guys. Let's quilt as we go!! I've been meaning to try it for ages and today is the day! Give it a try and let me know how it went. Enjoy, Sandy

    I haven't done FMQing yet. This is a great way to FMQ, rather than waiting until the full quilt is made for us beginners 💞

    This is a great way to use scraps! I have done things like this many times, but with one difference, I start with a common strip in the middle of the block and add to each side. When you do this, you can make an entire quilt top which will be very scrappy, with the one common element being the same central strip. Then, I piece the blocks together making the central strips creating an “x”. This creates a larger block which can then be made into any size quilt you want. It uses a lot of scraps!!!

      Sounds so cool! Can't wait to experiment a bit more with it!

      Do you use the same color strip from the middle to put it together?

      @@traceyfinch2615 yes, I did but you don't have to, if you prefer to mix it up it will look great too!

    I am really impressed with you. You look very young, and you said you didn’t have that much experience with quilting, but I’ve watched two of your videos and each one taught me something really valuable. Please keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you.

    Hi! I've never seen this method of joining the blocks together for quilt as you go. I like it. I have four large blocks that I will quilt individually, then join them. I may try this method. Thank you, Sandy. Nov. 17, 2024. It's rainy here in Oregon. Usual weather for November. Marion

      Thank you and welcome! The amount of material depends on the final size you have in mind, I always prefer to do smaller pieces to make it easier to filme but all the projects can be adapted to whatever size you prefer.

    Great tutorial and I love this idea of QAYG... but I have this problem of wanting things equally measured and symmetrical😅. I'm sure you heard me gasp when you started the second block and you were casually cutting the pieces with scissors and no exact measurements 😂😂😂! Yes, I would like to see you do one for an entire quilt. I'm new to quilting and I've not completed a quilt before so it will be a great learning process and experience for me.

    yes i'd like you to make a complete qayg quilt like this! Especially how you did the last block joining. I have Splendid Sampler quilts I need to join and want to do a qayg but am too scared to start. I may join 4 of the blocks together with sashing and cornerstones first then make it as qayg with the other blocks that are in quadrants if you know what i mean.

    • @seweasybysandy
      @seweasybysandy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Okay, I'll look into that for sure, because I had so much fun with this video! I know all about being scared to start but, quite honestly, every time I've been too scared to do something and then just went ahead and did it, it was ALWAYS worse in my head. And funny you should mention that because my next video is about a quilt block I was terrified to try again and decided it was time to give it another try! Have a great week!
