Im watching this two years after it was made. I am learning machine embroidery and found a way to quilt blocks or quilts in an embroidery machine. Lots of possibilities. But I am not a quilter, really. For a sewing class I made a lap quilt the traditional way, piecing a topper then making a sandwich with the whole quilt… it was so hard to get that big of a piece (times three) to be laid out and pinned together, I decided I wanted to learn QAYG. And then the next question, of course, “I’ve got blocks made, now what?” And started researching. This method makes sense and you explain it so well. Now I’m going to go watch the back to back method video!
I hit the button hard! I wish I lived in Australia to visit your shop!

Great video. I have the set and book, bought at a craft year years ago but have always felt intimidated. Watching Pauline have inspired me to tackle the great tools I have in hand as I am also finding it a real tough job pushing a big quilt through my machine. I've really been wanting to get into QAYG and I've seen so many different ways to joins the blocks together, but this technique allows for so much creativity! I can't wait to sit down with my blocks and decide what kind of sashing I want to do !

I just found this wonderful technique for Quilt as you Go. I have a question. I have a quilt in the working , have already attached my 5 blocks with strips the normal way(across the quilt) but have not sown the rows together. There is another strip that connects the rows between the block I have NOT done yet. Could I quilt the rows I have already sewn together ( quilt a roll of five) with backing then connect the 5 rows with this Quilt as You Go technique. After seeing this I will not quilt a quilt on my domestic machine, again!! Thank you for your help

Yes you would be able to quilt the rows you have already joined, then put the rows together using my technique, would make it very easy for you to do.
