I like what Droidian is going for, but I think it relies too much on PC formatted apps and I really wish the background pass through would get fixed on phosh, not a huge fan of the constant black screen that most phosh OS's have. Can't wait to see how it progresses.
Wow I didn't know you could install droidian directly from ubuntu touch installer I did try it installing droidian in my redmi note 5 pro manually but after the boot logo I got a black screen I could ssh into phone but I don't know much about it so went back to stock rom instead... I will try it in my pixel 3a thanks 😊 Also how's the battery life in this os?
I'm glad that you found the video informative. Thanks for the comment. The pixel 3a that I have seems to have a weak battery in general, so it is hard to tell, but I would say that it's about the same as on Ubuntu Touch.
If they only can update droidian for my Redmi 9c because Im a fan of Linux, and because it has so many bugs like after 2 minutes the screen blank out for a second then touch will stop working, forever,sometimes rebooting it, will just just result into a blank screen, or just not boot at all
on the latest update my camera works but not the front and the video. and almost other features is working on my redmi 9c. but the only 2 problem is the waydroid not working because the veth on the kernel is missing and the nightlight some driver is missing
I wonder if a used Pixel 3a is worth it to give both Ubuntu and Debian a try. I'm not all against Android but I sure would like to see how a real Linux phone performs. Dualboot between Ubuntu and Debian probably doesn't work, does it?
There any support for dualbooting that I know of. It's not like a standard GNU/Linux distribution. If you have a spare Pixel 3a then it's work a try. I would say that Ubuntu Touch or Droidian is for people who want something different from Andoird. It's not a one-to-one replacement.
Did they enable display through USB C? I know google intentionally disabled the feature in pixel 4 and 5 in the kernel build on android, but idk if pixel 3 supported it. I have a pixel 4 itching to get debian on it. mobians documentation is a joke or id consider trying to port.
I'm quite sure the Pixel 3 did not support it either and only displays through Chromecast. And yes, documentation is often a lacking part of projects ;(

Yep, similar for me! I don't have a Librem 5, so it might differ a bit. But in my experience, I have to manually add the apn settings for mobile data to work. I had to search it up online for my specific provider.
@@CyberPunkEdu I manually added the APN from tmobile under the network settings, it is still doesn't detect the 4G. The modem app from the store shows testing successful, but status is still shows Mint: disconnected. Probably need to wait another system update.

@@Crftbt Good thinking. Droidian has had some updates recently, Camera is working on Pixel 3a now too. Ubuntu Touch tends to be pretty stable and working well. Both are installable from the UBports installer, so you can try them both out pretty easily now. If you use Droidian then go with Phosh, as the Cutie shell really isn't that functional yet.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not familiar with the Redmi 9c. I used the UBports installer to install Droidian so there were no issues. Often with boot loops, it means a bad install, or needing a factory wipe, cache wipe, etc. Sometimes dm-verity.zip is needed to have it boot properly as well.
I just use the ubport installer 0.10.0 version the latest. And it's work fine with no errors. But the drivers on my Redmi 9c is not yet stable. Is too laggy
Please see the beginning of this video for flashing android on the pixel 3a: th-cam.com/video/CdNGSdYCaDY/w-d-xo.html . It's the same process as "downgrading" android version, but use the version that you want.
@@CyberPunkEdu thanks for the response. its not the same, phone is not visible either windows or kali linux i use. droidian doesnt have developer mode. i have unlocked bootloader to downgrade to android 9 but is different now that phone uses a debian OS
Sorry, you are right about the difference, but if you can get to fastboot mode then it should be able to flash the android ROM similarly. Otherwise, from fastboot you can flash a custom recovery and an android ROM. If you follow one of the LineageOS install videos that will get to some android. From there if you want stock android then the chrome installation will work from lineage. Let me know if you need more help.

From there you should be able to flash the device via developer.google.com (flash.android.com) in chrome in windows. On a GNU/Linux machine you should be able to access with normal fastboot commands if you want to flash custom recovery and custome roms.

Actually droidian has that bug in some Xiaomi phones that the brightness is set to 0% u can modify system files in recovery before rebooting

I noticed that sometimes on the Pixel 3a as well. It may get addressed if we file some of the bugs github.com/droidian/droidian/issues
The droidian on my Redmi 9c. My experience is better. It did not goto blank screen or touchscreen not responding. On my phone it works fine.

Night light isn't working on my device: Pixel 3a. But the feature is in the OS.
