  • Ben Lawers Dam. A wee short video of one of our favourite places, set within the stunning Ben Lawers mountain range and nature reserve in the southern highlands of Scotland.
Contructed between 1951 and 1956 this massive buttress type dam is 344 metres in length and 42 metres in height. Ben Lawrs Dam is part of the Breadalbane hydro Electric Scheme.
Built across the southern end of Lochan na Lairige and fed by a system of tunnels and aqueducts from a ctachment area of 45 square kilometres. The water in the Lochan has now been raised by a massive 27 metres!
The water drops from here down to Finlarig power station on Loch Tay, a drop of 415 metres.
We were staying in Aberfeldy and in the beautiful Glen Lyon so it would have been rude not to drive through and visit this awesome place.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
