They're so difficult to sink even without crews conducting damage control that, often, after live fire exercises on carriers or supercarriers used as targets, to actually be sunk demolition teams have to board and destroy specific parts of the vessels to get them to actually sink. With a live crew and damage control? Literally nobody knows how many missiles it takes to sink a supercarriers. This mission shows perfectly why the Tomcat had to meet the exact design specifications that would make it the defender of the fleet. You showcased its speed, the power of the AWG-9 radar system and the Phoenix missile and still the Backfires got some of their missiles of. The long loiter time was a key puzzle piece to the Tomcats mission, it needs to be on station already to beat the range and speed of the most advanced Soviet bomber/missile combinations.
The Phoenix was garbage though and failed to live up to it's mission. 3 fired in 1999 during the Iraq no fly zone all missed and back in the mid 80's out of 20 test firings against target drones doing 200knots on a straight trajectory only 1 hit.
@@Ushio01 Nice cherrypicking you have there, bud. Or did you get a stiffy at the idea of being a contrarian and forget to read the rest once you found what you wanted?
@Ushio01 AIM-54s were used to great effect in the Iran-Iraq war, mainly against fighters. Considering it was designed to be used as an intercept weapon against much larger targets than MiG-21s, I'd say it performed quite well.
I’m surprised Nimitz survived, looked like a lot of hits. Then again, the thing is absolutely massive, and the US Navy has a proven history with fast and effective damage control.
@@christopherchartier3017 chances are the last 2 wires would still be working since the Kitchen is a penetrator missile, the Hydraulics would be fuc*ed and I'm pretty sure you just lost half the Marine contingent since that thing just took out the arsenal, but you would still have most of the electrical systems functional since none of the missiles hit the nuclear reactors and The wiring is redundant as all hell, the aviation fuel bunkers got demolished with the second missile impact and the 3rd took out the CIC, pretty sure all of the radars and the defensive armaments stopped working after the first hit but the third one would have definitely savaged all defensive systems save for the CIWS since those are self-contained and automated. Nevertheless you could still recover aircraft, although you would have to be careful since you only have two wires left, and have to use either the manual ratchet or the electrical recovery system, you could not launch again though, the catapult is absolutely gone, also I'm pretty sure half the hangars are completely gone as is the ready arsenal in the rear hangar, and the mechanic shop has completely ceased to exist. Nevertheless the damage is not fatal, she could recover, as a matter of fact it would likely be surprisingly quick, maybe five months or so in wartime, two or so years in peace time. It did however suffer massive casualties, as I said half the Marine contention is gone, The entire mechanic staff is gone, most of the aircraft technicians are gone, basically every single weapons technician is gone, half the officers are dead and I would be surprised if any of the deck crew survived the 3rd hit. All in all realistically she would have lost about 30% of the crew. Honestly I think the EW did its job, Yes the missiles still hit the ship but only one of the missiles was able to hit a vital point.
Recreating Dance of the Vampires, easily my favorite chapter of Red Storm Rising, was my first thought when I saw the release announcement trailer. Glad to see someone doing exactly that.
The fact that they have randomization tools in the mission editor is so awesome. This guy was clearly designed by folks wanting to make their dream game that they could fuck around with for many years to come and it shows in every aspect from the engine, to the animation detail, to the quality of life features. I’m looking forward to throwing my money at these devs!
Depending on what the mod tools and support there ends up looking like, this might actually end up a true successor to the Harpoon II game. Computer Harpoon II was a naval strategy game from the mid 90s that ran exclusively on DOS, and had only map visualization. Because the units were just records in a database with no 3D models or anything, and the game came with a database editor that allowed you to change everything about a unit, people would create their own "accurized" databases or themed databases for the game, with additional weapons, ships, aircraft and sensors to allow for play in alternate settings. None of the naval strategy games with a wide release since then - Jane's Fleet Command, Command: Modern Air and Naval Operations, or Command: Modern Operations - have had the "user editability" to allow corrections or additions out of the box - JFC eventually got mod tools developed by third parties who had to deconstruct the data storage formats without help; and C:MO's devs have also locked down their database and thinks you should submit corrections to them instead of allowing tinkering. (Which is kind of rich since the guy who runs their unit database is an ex Harpoon II modder). If we get to backfill all the stuff that's "missing" from the game ourselves, this will take off like a *rocket*.
I'm pretty much buying this game as soon as it is released, Modding is something the devs really wanted to showcase with the game considering that they modded their previous game (Cold Waters) themselves and found a lot of limitations. Hopefully, the mod tools are flexible enough so that we can have USN vs PLAN, complete with all the stealth RCS, EWAR, ELINT, data link, etc. shenanigans we have today.
I happened to read that book when their was a coup in the Soviet Union. Good book. When I put the tv on, I thought at first, I was dreaming and staying up too late reading it. lol
I think the problem with these scenarios is the carriers have zero aircraft airborne at the start of the mission so close to the engagement zone. In reality she would have surveillance, countermeasure, and CAP airborne 24/7 at extreme range to provide a large bubble of air defense. Those bombers were able to get so close because you had to scramble all those aircraft and didn't have time to establish a long range defensive bubble in time.
@@Secretgeek2012 Or maybe start the mission with a standard CAP already airborne with partial fuel? But I haven't seen the editor (obviously), so I don't know if that's possible or would cause other scripting issues like the pre-launched aircraft not being correctly associated with the carrier.
Yea, and accurately modeling *how* the soviet force knows about the carrier group position enough to already have bombers 400 nm away on a direct intercept course is important as well. In this era, were soviet spy satellites good enough to find and track a carrier group like this? Would have been more realistic if there was a stealthy soviet sub shadowing the carrier group. Honestly though, a scenario like this it would make sense to have at least one or two subs in the general AO, as well as having at least one hawkeye already ~100-200 nm out from the carrier group... the scenario would *start* with the hawkeye detecting one of the bears, and you would assume either a soviet sub or satellite were responsible for getting the initial rough intercept course for the bomber groups.
Oh, is THAT what theyre saying? I've heard "Oh my!" from the outset. Now I just have to figure out what the Ruskies are talking about when discussing their taxes.
Former EW here. One sweep of your radar is enough to get your location of the soviets have more than one platform intercepting it. In other words you may as well leave the ship air search on. Assuming this game is accurate at all with regards to electronic warfare. An Oscar doing a BOL on you would be a nasty surprise and they could do that with 1 sweep if they know they're within their range.
I think the point is to not continue to broadcast your location. Also idk how the AI treats it, but the longer the enemy broadcast, the more info the EWO can deduce, such as range and type. Remember computers were as advanced in the 80s so instant computer identification isn’t a thing in this game
Great to have an EW guy here. Could you please tell a few thing about Tu-22PP or Tu-16PP supposed to covert the strike? Also recce Tu-95 have a surface search radar, satellite link and mid course link (to my best knowledge). Priority is to get them first, that greatly reduces launch range for the bombers and i guess missile accuracy as well if they have to use their own radar, and being jammed
Also a former EW. He needs to rely upon his Hawkeyes and stay in EMCON prior to engaging the enemy, but once engaged he needed to light everything off and keep it lit off. trying to play around going in and out of EMCON after the enemy already has found him, is just handicapping himself.
@@alnotz Yeah, you want to get the guy with the Big Bulge before he can find your fleet and pass on the targeting info to the Spear-chuckers. Which I believe he did as I don't recall seeing any ESM intercept on the Bear. I think the Bear was also in EMCON and relying upon ESM himself Lighting off that SPS-49 and SPS-48E on Leahy allowed them to FIX the CVBG location. But once the enemy finds you, there is no point trying to play games going in and out of EMCON. Light it all off at that point. It is worse than useless trying to play EMCON games at that point unless you suspect an Antiradiation missile attack. Former EW myself. Served on Halsey, a sister ship to Leahy seen in game. The modeling was not showing the SLQ-32 antennas on Leahy for some reason.
I think it's possible you may have been jamming out your interceptor missiles. At 21:06 Rampage 2 is given an order to jam a point very close to itself, and as it keeps moving the jam cone starts turning back to where it was, starting to aim toward your strike group as you switch away.
I thought the same thing however, there is an icon that appears when somehting is being jammed. A tiny sun. It looks like my missiles were not being jammed but the hostile contacts were.
@@Wolfpack345 I'm pretty sure AS-6s use intertial navigation towards a preset killbox before activating their seeker in the terminal phase. So I'm not sure the jammers would have helped anyway?

I really hope you keep it up with the narrative aspect and cinematic shots you have been adding to your videos as it makes the videos more entertaining and it just stands out when compared to regular videos. Great video as always and keep producing this PEAK!
Nimitz is a champ for eating all those anti-ship missiles, living all of them, and still being able to recover aircraft. I also find it interesting that the escort ships really couldn't do anything to stop it, although it seems like the "first aegis cruiser" was just in a bad position to repel the strike.
I wanted to let you know that with all the content coming out regarding this game, your videos are by far the best. A lot of creators haven't matched your level of competency and video structure. For that, i thank you haha and i look forward to all your future videos!
Its probably not that feasible, but I'd absolutely love to see all the different colored shirts running around doing their jobs on the deck of the carriers. It doesn't have to be that detailed, just something to making the carrier come more alive.
Adding some generic human models to the preflight/launch/ recovery animations wouldnt be that work intensive. Sure rigging the people is a pain, but you can reuse them for all aircraft of a whole side.
They've basically built a platform that could take us from the cold war era into the modern era of war fighting. Cant wait for that DLC or sequel already. In the mean time i bet modders will be all over modern era equipment.

you play this so much better compared to the other youtubers at the time, I appreciate you using your aircraft to their full extent and by launching AWACS first and using their radar instead of ships, setting your planes to go high, and not setting everything to weapons free immediately
The attention to detail in this is incredible - flaps and rudder control showing, missiles climbing for longer range, bailing out crews and model damage, not to mention flares and evasive maneovres. Heck the radars even stop when not engaged. I'm so glad a milsim is being made that has a modern interface but preserves the crunchy detail of the grognard tabletop esque ones.

Are they called the Jolly Rogers with the livery? I grew up as a Navy brat and lived for a long time just a mile or so from Oceana NAS in Virginia Beach and remember, fondly, seeing all the planes fly over to land. My brother and I would try and figure out what squadron they were with as they flew over. I remember the Tomcatter's, the Black Aces, The Jolly Rogers but I have to say my favorite, especially when the Tomcat had the full color livery was the Pukin Dogs...there was something about that blue and black tail on the Tomcat that was just beautiful.
That was AWESOME. Thank you Wolfpack for recreating one of my favourite books and one of the most exciting chapters in the book. Tom Clancy is smiling down on you.
I would have kept the air search radars on from the Hawkeyes. They already know there's something out there and a general idea of the location. Cycling the Hawkeye radar does nothing for you except blinding yourself, when you're in the sky.
Not how it works in reality. They take turns turning on and off in sequence. That's to triangulate and keep jammers/ attack confused as the location. Growlers and Prowlers should have already been in the air, two minimum, the rest launched before the cats. 18s in this time would have been used up close and 14s for running out to long range intercept. Wolf knows that so I'm not sure why he did it this way other than a challenge. I also never saw a phalanx, or "CIWS, sea wiz" going off. The eye in sky is not left on in war time, passive radar is not that accurate and just gives general location, speed, and alt. Having the eye on is pinpointing it's location. That's why the call bulldog is made when a weapon system goes active with it's own radar for pinpoint accuracy around 10 miles. Actual tactics and numbers are incorrect but close. I don't want to see the inside of a jail. Side note, Growlers are newer, much faster and way better than a Prowler but not as sexy IMO. Growler's were not made in this time frame.
That battle is precisely why we need the French Navy in SeaPower too... Never forget that, beyond the US taking all the spotlight as always, Foch was there for the Dance too...
Not for all of it, unfortunately for Foch. But yeah, I was thinking the same. I'm sure they'll be added, as will more of the Royal Navy and hopefully other nations like Canada, Netherlands, Spain, China etc.
The attention to historical detail the devs have is amazing. One of the things I’m most excited for is being able to set up small but hyper-specific scenarios to make cool visual aids for videos explaining how naval combat and naval aviation works.
I was stationed aboard the USS Nimitz working in air ops during the early 80s. It was the Reagan era, where the talk was of a "600 ship" navy. I only mention that in regards to this scenario because, when we deployed, our carrier task force was typically at least twice the size of the US task force in the scenario here; normally made up of two CGs, four DDs, a few OHP frgates and perhaps two SSNs as well as support vessels. My only other thought is that, --- although not their primary capabity --- our A7 squadrons aboard could potentially serve in the air to air intercept role. Obviously, they were not used in this scenario.
Genuinely did a little jig when I saw the notification, I love watching everyone who has been given access to the game but with your added narrative immersion and just overall skill in how you play I actually cannot get enough, already looking forward to more!
That intro makes me feel like watching a really good 80s-90s Cold-War movie, or a James Bond movie. Seriously good stuff, the music, the ingame camera angles. Really good stuff.
Too cool! That chapter of Red Storm Rising is probably one of my favorites all time of any military thriller/war novel I've ever read. Great job with the intro.
the golden rule when making games, are you as the designer having fun? If yes, you have a game worth making. Congrats on making it to early access, huge achievement! Good luck to you and the team on the continuation of development!
The atmosphere and cinematography for a regular video of gameplay is top shelf. This video is like watching a movie. This game is everything we need for modern naval sim. WHY is it not November yet. Maverick had a banner day up there with all those splashes. Every video makes the need for this game grow exponentially. You're on fire with these. 🍻
Man... This reminds me of that hellish Harpoon 3 mission where you need to take your 3 carriers and escorts into range to support attacks into Northern Europe. And the wave of soviet aircraft is just insane. My best result got one carrier limping, one had to be scuttled, one destroyed... And no air wing left. The carnage was tremendous.
Soviet naval aviation was designed to deny the atlantic SSBN bastions to NATO naval incursion. Trying to push into the north see is sticking your dick in a hornets nest.
My nostalgia overflows with your tribute to Red Storm Rising and by seeing the Jolly Roger's F-14s. You display Sea Power better than anyone else on TH-cam, so keep it comin'
Beautiful rendition of the Tom Clancy's novel. Can he rest in peace, for me he was the creator of the techno thriller and many will remember him forever.
This scenario bring a Sum of All Fears vibe to the function that people should really get onboard with[its not their fault tho the game needs more marketing, i never wouldve found this game if it wasnt for a friend of mine sadly, and im super excited to play omfg]
Watching a ton of other TH-camrs who got Sea Power bumble through the missions with their radars on the entire time is painful. Happy to see you know how modern naval warfare works :)
Reminds me of the old Harpoon game. 2 sure win sitations. Nato had an CVN (or more impotant f-14 with phoenix missles that had the range to splat down incoming missle salvos) or the sowjets had a critical mass of Tu-22 that cant be interceped by the mix of speed an weapon standoff range. AI behaved strange thogh not salvoing when they had the chance and not sprinting in on afterburner low.
Yeah I'd have big concerns about buying this game if the AI does stupid stuff all the time. No better than Harpoon when the Tu-16's dogfight (with their tail guns) fighters rather than head for home.
The backfires actually need to stay high for two reasons: 1, the Kh-22 is not a seaskimmer, it is propelled by a liquid rocket and relies on flying at insane speed (mach 4+) at very high altitude to get past defenses, so it wants a high altitude launch. 2) they need to be high enough to locate the carrier group with their surface search radars.
Its awesome watching WP and the Mighty Jingles for content on this game… I check every day for new vids from them. I can’t get enough of Sea Power lol I’ve tried some other creators but I really like the depth of gameplay in Wolfpack and Jingles’ vids
that’s because it’s literally copied from one of the chapters where USS nimitz is attacked by soviet bombers, and iirc pretty much the same outcome occurs, nimitz is critically damaged, but not destroyed
Wolfpack you have created the classic scenario. Bravo! This game takes me back to the computer game Harpoon and the tabletop minis game upon which it was based. These games were about 30 years ago. So to me Sea Power feels like a long-awaited spiritual successor but of course it’s not. Fun fact, Tom Clancy validated some of his ideas for Red Storm and Red October in discussions with the creator of Harpoon so while Clancy was not a gamer he clearly saw the value in naval simulations to better understand the real world. Which to me is a hallmark of a great game.
That was a fun episode. I think a scenario could be made where due to the damage sustained to USS Nimitz not only have the Soviets stepped up their attacks but as a result she and her task group are in trouble. One of her sisters has been sent with a larger escort to race up and rescue her. Break through a small force that stands between the two. Send aircraft to help relieve Nimitz from the enemy. Rendezvous with the carrier and cover her retreat. I don't think its possible to do all in one mission. But as a small set of missions that would be cool. But thats just me.
I love the time period they chose for the great variation of aircraft. Love the classic F14, A6 Intruder, A7 Corsair and the Prowlers, S3 Viking ASW along with so many others.
23:17 "The good news is we are keeping these bombers out of range, they are not really able to engage" says right after receiving multiple missile hits on the carrier. This made me chuckle - Baghdad Bob moment there.
I do not know how the AS-4 missiles are modeled in game, but the real missile uses inertial guidance to get close to the target and the RADAR is only for terminal guidance. So in theory, the Prowlers would likely have minimal effect in the transition phase of missile's flight. Maybe they might have an effect on terminal guidance, but that would probably be hard to coordinate.
A very good point, I suppose jamming those is no avail, especially if guided by a Tu-95 or Tu-16 recon variant in mid course. In terminal phase... well. I have no information on what kind of radar they have and never heard about jamming those. Plus, all these missiles had "flock mentality" like SSN variants, so that they were in link with each other.
Oh man, Red Storm Rising is an AMAZING book. Tom Clancy did so much research for his novels it’s wild how he got all the info. This scene in the book is great. Another favorite part of mine happens in Germany. The Russians are pushing into West Germany and the US drops airborne troops in front to try to slow the advance. Paratroopers take up positions a long a valley and are in the trees on either side of the valley. The Russians had more tanks but the US equipped every soldier with a LAW rocket (Light Anti-armor Weapon) as the Russian tanks enter the forest the scene just describes hundreds of smoke trails coming out of the wood line and all the troops open up with rockets at once. Again, excellent war novel.
@@Raptureo0ounless its on a different draft. I don't remember that either. I remember the us tankers falling back fighting then tge offence later after the major resupply came in. Also Iceland, that would be sick doing a soviet defence to an attacking us carrier group!

In any case, thanks for showcasing this amazing game.
I love Red Storm Rising. I read it at least ever year or two. Such an amazing book. This game is going to allow some really cool missions to be built around it.
Tomcats could carry 6x Phoenix. They couldn’t return to land on a carrier with that load, but if it’s a shooting war and BARCAP against expected incoming supersonic vampires, that would be the logical loadout.
Almost exactly the same scenario as Tom Clancy's "Red Storm rising" The difference in the novel, is that the Ruskies had false targets and lots of jamming. Awesome mission and better results. Well done!

I think with those EWar planes you wanna keep them as close to over the fleet as possible. Most Soviet ASMs used high-altitude, high-speed flight patterns that didn't actually turn on their radars until they were going terminal.
Awesome video, from intro to scenario to execution. The way those SAMs seemed to fail, you were lucky the Backfires held onto some of their missiles. I guess the pre-early-access wrinkles in the game balanced each other out here. Keep up the great work, can't wait for this game to launch!

@@TheBelrick American cold war-present supercarriers are extremely difficult vessels to sink, as opposed to knock out of operation, and nobody even knows what that looks like except the USN, as USN is the only organization to ever sink one of these supercarriers.
Administratively, you could probably do it with a bunch of heavy torpedoes or quickstrike bombs. In combat, if you win undersea, perhaps. But it won't be easy.

This mission shows perfectly why the Tomcat had to meet the exact design specifications that would make it the defender of the fleet.
You showcased its speed, the power of the AWG-9 radar system and the Phoenix missile and still the Backfires got some of their missiles of. The long loiter time was a key puzzle piece to the Tomcats mission, it needs to be on station already to beat the range and speed of the most advanced Soviet bomber/missile combinations.
that, or the Hawkeye needs to be much further out. but even then you want the Toms out as far as you can get em.
@@sawyerawr5783 Yeah, that would almost certainly put the Hawkeyes into harms way, before the Tomcats could react.

@@christopherchartier3017 realistically it would probably survive that strike, but goodbye to your airwing cause the entire rear deck would be gone
@@battleoid2411 yeah, after seeing that first missile hit the stern my first thought was “how tf are the arresting cables working” lol
Also my first thought
I would like a recreation of Chapter 35: Time on Target. That's my favorite video from the FIXEDIT channel.
You are in for a treat, a guy named FixEdit did it in DCS a couple years ago th-cam.com/video/zo8FhChnyq0/w-d-xo.html
I feel like most of the Red Storm rising stuff will be recreated and I'm totally there for it.
I was about to comment the same thing; Vampires is also my favourite chapter.
Hell yes it’s this chapter! First ever Tom Clancy book for me is Red Storm Rising and I’m loving every page of it!

I imagine a mission creator could delay the start of an attack to allow the player time to set things up like that?
@@Secretgeek2012 Or maybe start the mission with a standard CAP already airborne with partial fuel? But I haven't seen the editor (obviously), so I don't know if that's possible or would cause other scripting issues like the pre-launched aircraft not being correctly associated with the carrier.
You can start with aircraft already airborne. Like with the Hawkeyes. I just wanted to show off the flight deck operations
@@Wolfpack345 The over-the-shoulder shot of the Tomcat taking off was epic. 😁

I thought so, too! USS Nimitz is a tough lady!
God bless her and all who sail on her.
@@tomdrv9901yeah I was wondering about the same thing, makes sence.
@@tomdrv9901 Yea it makes sense - ships just don't move fast enough for you to need anything but IOG most of the way.
@@mavor101It’s easy to think that, but when you fire from very long range and ships are aware of it while utilizing their jammers, IOG really isn’t enough since evasive nautical maneuvers would throw that off. At closer range, I’d definitely say IOG would work

Nimitz is a champ for eating all those anti-ship missiles, living all of them, and still being able to recover aircraft. I also find it interesting that the escort ships really couldn't do anything to stop it, although it seems like the "first aegis cruiser" was just in a bad position to repel the strike.
I guess I could have had her behind but I am not sure it would have helped much. Tico was ripping missiles as fast as they were loaded.
I am a bit surprised seemingly not a single one was intercepted. I mean he fired like two dozen abms at them plus jamming.
Yeah no way it should be able to recover anything after those hits on the rear deck

Its probably not that feasible, but I'd absolutely love to see all the different colored shirts running around doing their jobs on the deck of the carriers. It doesn't have to be that detailed, just something to making the carrier come more alive.
Yeah, adding some people on the ships would be an amazing add. Hoping they sell enough copies to add that post launch.
Adding some generic human models to the preflight/launch/ recovery animations wouldnt be that work intensive. Sure rigging the people is a pain, but you can reuse them for all aircraft of a whole side.

I knew someone else would mention him! I hope this game will help him in his work tbh

The attention to historical detail the devs have is amazing. One of the things I’m most excited for is being able to set up small but hyper-specific scenarios to make cool visual aids for videos explaining how naval combat and naval aviation works.
The bombers never launched half their missiles. Shot 1 each and said the others were not in range despite being the same missiles
Rip Tom Clancy. He would be rolling in his grave for what they did to Rainbow Six making it a Hero Shooter.

Geez, the unit models are darn pretty. I love how the camera can follow right from the hangar deck. Good stuff.
I can’t get enough of Sea Power lol
I’ve tried some other creators but I really like the depth of gameplay in Wolfpack and Jingles’ vids
This has a Red Storm Rising feel to it. Well done sir.
that’s because it’s literally copied from one of the chapters where USS nimitz is attacked by soviet bombers, and iirc pretty much the same outcome occurs, nimitz is critically damaged, but not destroyed
Not only was Harpoon used, Larry Bond was co-author of Red Storm Rising
That was a fun episode. I think a scenario could be made where due to the damage sustained to USS Nimitz not only have the Soviets stepped up their attacks but as a result she and her task group are in trouble. One of her sisters has been sent with a larger escort to race up and rescue her.
Break through a small force that stands between the two.
Send aircraft to help relieve Nimitz from the enemy.
Rendezvous with the carrier and cover her retreat.
I don't think its possible to do all in one mission. But as a small set of missions that would be cool. But thats just me.
It would be cool if campaign settings carry over damage from previous scenarios tbh. Then you could chop them up.
I love the time period they chose for the great variation of aircraft. Love the classic F14, A6 Intruder, A7 Corsair and the Prowlers, S3 Viking ASW along with so many others.
Smart to launch the prowlers I've only ever heard stories of their jamming capabilities but they'd probably too op for this game even back then
23:17 "The good news is we are keeping these bombers out of range, they are not really able to engage" says right after receiving multiple missile hits on the carrier. This made me chuckle - Baghdad Bob moment there.
Truely one of the best videos i have seen in a long time and you have convinced me that Sea power will one masterpiece of a naval warfare game
The most minor of nitpicking, the long range surface to air missiles that were fired are Standard - 2 (SM-2) and not Sea Sparrow (RIM-2).
Even more nitpicky, the RIM-2 was the terrier, the Sparrow is the RIM-7
@@TexanHuman That is a very good catch.
@@ryanboyer5934 I am sorry for being such a “well actually” type jerk lol
@@TexanHuman not at all. Facts are facts.
The production value of all of your videos is amazing.
Thank you
I do not know how the AS-4 missiles are modeled in game, but the real missile uses inertial guidance to get close to the target and the RADAR is only for terminal guidance.
Thanks for the great closeup of the Tomcat launch. Seeing the engine spool up like that was great. Detail in the models is fantastic.
Thank you for these videos, I'm pretty convinced I need this game now
Fantastic work, it was like watching a real cinema film.
You have a talent for storytelling.
Good stuff! I thought you were going to lose the Nimitz. It'd be interesting to play the Soviet side for this scenario.
Excellent presentation! Wolfpack brings the naval drama hard!
Wolfpack back on the stove cooking some good fucking food here
My buddy and I were litterally just talking about this scenario from the book less than a week ago. Wolfpack always delivers. Great video!
Larry Bond never gets enough credit for the work he did on that book.
From Which book ist the Airborne with LAW part ? canz remember it to be a Part of Red Strom
Greetings
@@Raptureo0ounless its on a different draft. I don't remember that either. I remember the us tankers falling back fighting then tge offence later after the major resupply came in.
Also Iceland, that would be sick doing a soviet defence to an attacking us carrier group!
@@Raptureo0o Pretty sure it’s in Red Storm Rising. The Fulda gap part. Might not have been American troops but it was NATO forces for sure. It’s been a few years since I read it.
@malusignatius agree - Larry Bond was a big contributor to Red Storm Rising. His own books Red Pheonix and Vortex are also excellent.
19:33 Never seen a Backfire get hit so hard it grows another wing
Hell yeah aircraft carrier gameplay
Man, you opening productions just get better and better Wolf. Thanks for sharing.
It'd be good to see you complete subscriber generated missions in the future
What a unique and amazing game. I know very little of modern marine warfare, and through these videos I am able to understand what principles are at play and what solutions and materials are used to address these principles. Incredibly interesting for me.
I probably won't be playing this myself, but for sure would love to see (much!) more of this, keep those videos coming sailor! (as far as I'm concerned...)
In any case, thanks for showcasing this amazing game.
Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising vibes
R u restarded
Go look at the book, then look at the names of the chapters and come back when you realised the problem here
I love Red Storm Rising. I read it at least ever year or two. Such an amazing book. This game is going to allow some really cool missions to be built around it.
Wolfpack coming back with something sick. Love that you and stealth17 are collaborating with each other!
Tomcats could carry 6x Phoenix. They couldn’t return to land on a carrier with that load, but if it’s a shooting war and BARCAP against expected incoming supersonic vampires, that would be the logical loadout.
No it wouldn't
There's so many components of this game that were sorely needed in "War on the Sea". I'm really looking forward to Sea Power!
Almost exactly the same scenario as Tom Clancy's "Red Storm rising" The difference in the novel, is that the Ruskies had false targets and lots of jamming.
Awesome mission and better results. Well done!
Great video of one of the best scenes in one of the best military fiction books ever. Keep the videos coming! Until we can play ourselves, we’re living vicariously through your channel.
I think with those EWar planes you wanna keep them as close to over the fleet as possible. Most Soviet ASMs used high-altitude, high-speed flight patterns that didn't actually turn on their radars until they were going terminal.
The visuals can certainly be improved but it's already amazing to watch these naval battles. Can't wait to play it myself!
Awesome video, from intro to scenario to execution. The way those SAMs seemed to fail, you were lucky the Backfires held onto some of their missiles. I guess the pre-early-access wrinkles in the game balanced each other out here. Keep up the great work, can't wait for this game to launch!
Love Tom Clancy and love this video
The shot of the tomcats climbing is brilliant, and everything you showed just makes me want the game more and more
